I would not let Ultimate's lack of high numbers in that contest mean too much, it easily got the job done when it needed to. Mostly, the big numbers came from games that in the GotY discussion anywhere. The Xenoblade match probably should not be taken at value given it was major upset (like 3% that Xenoblade reached that point). Wouldn't be much different from taking Mario/Charizard at face value when the latter had a dream run.

Besides, Melee vs. Ultimate is a match that could easily defy how the numbers looked against other games. .

For all of the Messi merchandise they sold, however, it probably was worth it because it captured a generation of fans that will stay with them even when he has left.

Messi brings the club so much money to the club off the pitch, that his contract is somehow magically worth it already. It's crazy how losing him would put be a loss to Barca economically.

And no, it did not make sense. LF had no real motives near the end other than being a great manipulator, probably all the writers understood about him. Dropped the ball with him the moment they made him send Sansa to Ramsay, which makes no sense whatsoever, because it's a cover up from the fact that they did not care to introduce Jeyne Poole in the show.

Both were very pretty when they came out and also very dull imo. While I believe Lopen has great points, TFA wasn't good to begin with either and has problems of its own. I think Avatar has aged worse because I ultimately don't believe that even if TFA had good and continuous sequels, it'd excuse it. It's just that we were more focused on being hyped and coming up with theories at the time than look at its glaring flaws.

Published anti masks studies are typically like "There is a 95% chance that the chance of getting affected while wearing a mask is halved or increased by 25% or somewhere in between" which is basically useless information and probably the reason they tend to get rejected by the most journals. They also tend to completely ignore the purpose of preventing yourself from affecting others in case you're affected yourself and only look at how great they are at protecting you. With a conclusion that says we can't conclude anything they're often referred to as proof that masks make no difference while they actually just prove nothing >_>

My biggest issue with Blitzball is that you can't really do anything when the opponents have the ball. It feels like half a game you're getting. It probably had the most potential, but I don't like it.

There are definitely some games mentioned here that are not sleeper titles at all, CTR being the best but far from only example of that. I believe my Jet Set Radio mention is in a grey zone, though its sequel which was mentioned, definitely qualifies.

Mono grass didn't stop things like Tangrowth from being good!

It's a shame ice is probably the worst typing overall. It absolutely sucks on the defensive side and almost all ice types have defensively oriented stats for some weird reason.

Flareon has always been useless in competitive play too partially because of this. Most Eeveelutions have had use, only the Gen IV duo rivals Flareon for the bottom spot.

The most recent thing I can think of is Sephiroth being revealed for Smash, but that was the trailer.

Baba Is You is the most recent thing mentioned here I played and it's a creative and good pick. Before that probably the ending of God of War.

Well, most recent thing I played and agree with at least. I also played The Last Of Us 2 and enjoyed playing through it for most part, but the most mind blowing thing about it is probably that anyone finds what was mentioned in this topic mind blowing as I don't find that impressive even a little bit (with all due respect, glad some people did because it was clearly the intention!)

Toxel is a baby Pokmon. It's evolution is very good though and it's not that hard to get, especially with EXP share. Noibat evolves later but EXP share saves you once more.

My own extra point to insert about SwSh; I loved the "no f***ing around" nature of the game. You go straight from one gym to the next with very minimal bulls***. If the battles posed a single bit of challenge to compensate for this they'd be the best Pokemon games. Alas.

Now this is certainly a hot take. Especially when the game has very little content instead.

I've played them all and I can't really recall it either. Only it isn't the one on Wii U because I replayed that on Switch recently.

I find the camera and controls a step up from 64, especially the former of the two.

The fact that you get booted out is a weird criticism if you've played any other 3D Mario at all.

The out of order thing is a fair criticism, at least for the ones that might as well have been there. I don't mind though. It's much more annoying when Blue Coins are limited to certain early stages when they might as well have been in the latter ones too.

The platforming stages are generally viewed as the best part of the game and are not viewed as particularly difficult.

Yeah, the game wants you to figure out to skip it as you're supposed it think he's unbeatable at that point. I do like that it's possible though.

I appreciate FFVII's combat system. It's simple and easy now, but created a lot of things that could be improved upon. Many boss fights are still really fun.

Most Bowser fights are good by atmosphere alone, but in general they're mostly all great. Sunshine isn't unfortunately and I also think 3's is a weak point in an otherwise almost perfect game.

I think Final Fantasy is brought up mostly because they're many and they get compared to each other. Besides, ideally, the game you liked the least but still put 50+ hours into isn't too bad or at least has enjoyable aspects.

It's weird holding mini-games against FFX when you can lose that one game you're forced to play (and likely will on your first playthrough). I dislike Blitzball. Maybe it would be fun if you could control anyone when the other team had the ball. But you don't have to invest yourself even the slightest in it. Unlike what it seemed like at some point in this topic, you're not forced to power up celestial weapons at all. Don't bother with them if you don't want to.

My roomate has been playing Death Stranding recently. I think he's enjoying it a lot and he's also playing it very detailed and careful. From what I've seen him play it seems too repetitive for me, but better than I otherwise would have thought.

Rise of Skywalker gets more hate than it should. It wasn't exactly good, but at that point, trying to round off everything was just impossible, it didn't exactly have an easy time not being bad. I fully believe Force Awakens is the actual worst one.

Surprised Mario is brought up at all, I feel like that must be a misinterpretation. Doing something big for someone is not the same as being a simp. He's usually saving the world along with Peach, and while he does go lengths to save her, it's not like he does anything for her before her life is in danger. He's more of a peace keeper, which often involves saving Peach.

Otacon is a very good choice. It's not important whether or not he gets some, it's whether or not getting some makes a difference. If Otacon was only like that right after being with Naomi it would be a different story, but he'd act the same regardless.

In response to the other topic: yes, Frozen is very good and Anna is the best character in it. Frozen has probably been a victim of its own popularity and pass exposure, but I just thought it was really good.

Toy Story 3 is perfect and you should definitely get to it.

Thank you for letting me know though. I wonder why they felt the need to fix it after everyone already knew her as Aeris. It's not like either name is a real name, and they both sound equally "fine." Aeris is actually easier to pronounce, because like 5% of languages have the "th" sound (although 2 of them are English and [castilian] Spanish).

Ha, you're hardly the first person to insist on that! I don't personally have a strong preference, but they have stuck to Aerith since because that was the intention here too, though you could argue they might as well have just kept Aeris at that point.
