But I did grow up in the punk/hardcore scene and kind of have an aversion towards the concepts of celebrity of idolatry; I personally could never get wrapped up in the culture, and I definitely wouldn't kowtow to them if I ever had to interact with them or their fanbases. If you were referring to idols like daruma dolls then I think that shit's cool, and I'm always interested in folklore and local myth. Aside from beating For the King awhile back - I can't tell you the last time I finished a game. I went about 2/3 of the way through DQ11 like 2 years ago, more recently I played Borderlands: The presequel and made it about 2/3 of the way through, replayed DQMJ2 and got about 2/3 of the way through, etc. The only thing I can get into anymore are gatcha games. Maybe depression? Disenfranchisement? I know that with how widespread gaming communities are nowadays perfection is kind of necessitated in gaming and kind of ruins the experience. I remember thinking I was a fantastic Tetris, Worms, Tetris Attack, Super Puzzle Fighter, etc. player but then I'd go online with similar games and get destroyed by Korean and Chinese players. I just don't have the determination to play at the same level that other people do that play nonstop, like Chinese farmers in games. Even when playing offline it makes me feel like I need to savescum or min-max and it completely ruins the fun -- and games that require skill I just get discouraged watching/playing against experts. Vyrulisse posted... Your thoughts on Miracle Whip I guess it tastes better than mayo. I haven't used it in forever, though. I tend to avoid all full-fat dairy products and they kind of repulse me a bit. I only ever use mayo or Miracle Whip if it's on something I'm getting when I'm eating out -- and even then I ask for less than the normal amount. |

Their fries are the best of the three, their nuggets aren't quite as good as Wendy's but their chicken fries are better, their chicken isn't as good as Wendy's but it's cheaper, their burgers aren't as good as the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger but Rodeo Cheeseburgers are cheap and better than anything else at either place, their breakfast isn't as good as McDonald's but it's way better than Wendy's, and their fish is the best of the three. |

The last example literally doesn't even make sense; there's no shaming going on by assigning a positive attitude towards vegetables. |

All of my hard sciences transferred, as well as my basic nutrition, statistics, and a lot of other stuff. So far I'm planning on taking some classes in Asian History and Basic Hindi in addition to my dietetics classes. I'm kind of pissed that I need a math separate from my statistics, because my AP score from High School apparently expired -- so I may be stuck taking some math. |

As much as I love Cleveland we do not have attractive women. The women in the Ann Arbor area and near Detroit are WAY more attractive. Plus whenever there's an attractive model or porn star or cam model or something they're ALWAYS from Texas or California -- and out of the places I lived, as much as I hated Tucson there were tons of attractive women there. |

| bobbaaay 04/06/21 3:00:31 PM #43 | I'm strongly opposed to any of this digital vigilantism stuff, and it's a grossly reductionist view of humanity to complete destroy a person's existence due to a mistake, an opinion that's had no bearings on actual actions, or something they've bettered themselves from in their pasts. Refusing to have discourse or actually open up conversation with people and just cancelling them, harassing their employers, etc. only creates martyrdom and impedes upon any societal progress. I do think it exists, and I think it's ignorant, socially irresponsible, self important, and simple-minded. There are cases where it makes sense, like R. Kelly, Weinstein, or Michael Jackson. It's tough because they had their own mental health issues and their artwork was objectively well-made - but you can't help but feel icky listening to either one, especially after Robert's decades of misdeeds. But those cases are very, very rare. I'm also in a Chris Chan group on Facebook, and I've literally been seeing tons of self proclaimed leftists calling out CWC for his bigotry and suggesting that he deserved everything that happened to him. Like he literally has severe autism. People who're autistic have troubles relating to stuff outside of themselves and are highly prone to different forms of prejudice -- especially when he grew up in the south, his parents were bigots, and the online culture at the time was heavily bigoted. Like jesus fucking christ - you're not being "woke" by pointing out that some things he's done are problematic by being incredibly ableist yourself. There are also cases of people who're on drugs or severely mentally ill who say/do bad/offensive things and they're uploaded online; you're not being politically correct by trying to destroy an already destroyed person who's incapable of comprehending their own political incorrectness. You're just being ableist. |

It stands up as some of the better lo-fi indie stuff, especially from that era -- but it feels too much like that era to ever feel timeless. It always feels like a throwback to the early '00s to me, which wasn't a time I particularly liked or was fond of in retrospect - so I feel odd listening to them. You could probably say the same thing about Bright Eyes - but I was obsessed with Conor Oberst when I was like 16 and literally listened to nothing else, so my nostalgia is way too strong. |
