Understand this: I'm not in the business of blaming today's Americans for their own country's past. But that's exactly the point: get this idea out of your heads that Liz, Phil or Charles are somehow to blame for everything that was done in the name of their ancestors two or three or four hundred years ago.

never watched or read it, but sounds pretty similar

mc of tearmoon has knowledge of her past life where she died mainly due to conspiracies (she was pretty dumb but she didn't deserve the death she got because she eventually tried really hard to be better, and everything before that point was just her being extremely sheltered and pampered), and in her second life randomly and accurately predicts a couple of things and tries specifically to avert just those things... which makes the smarter people around her believe she's a genius

in volume 3 the main conflict so far (her empire declining 5 years from now and her facing the guillotine) is no longer a threat but her granddaughter travels back in time and gives her another source of foreknowledge (which she adheres to religiously, because... she's lived through something similar) (spoilers but if you'll never read it who cares)

she has weirdly good luck, but mostly in that every irrational action she takes inspires the people around her to follow her and become better. she accomplishes literally nothing by herself

But, most live comedy sketches are pretty bad--I don't think it's that easy to write one, especially 40+ seasons into a show. And, an episode is put together all in one single week usually, so they barely even have time to rehearse. And, jokes are often swapped in/out minutes before the show begins, so you can't really memorize anything, you have to read the cue cards.

(I don't know if FF11 has something equivalent, though).

it's been super streamlined compared to the Good Old Days but even then it's still a kind of confusing mess and EXTREMELY long, with every expansion requiring a not insignificant toeing into various different activities. it's all easily soloable but it would probably take half a year to get through all of it, at the very least. i played for years and i still haven't finished some of the expansions' main stories completely!

there's no forced time waits anymore (before each expansion often gave you like one token a day to do activities that you had to do a bunch of to advance in the expansion's plot; now you get like one token every 10 minutes) but holy god the game is a mess, especially for today's average gamer

GU remaster actually includes a cheat mode that gives you maxed everything if you really can't stand the gameplay and just want to see the story, and it doesn't even lock you out of anything (except apparently one achievement for hitting a specific level).

GU combat isn't perfect but it is much more arcadey compared to the first games. Lots of weapon switching, combos, guard breaking, etc going on.

Definitely one of the best "pretends to be an MMO" games out there. Cool visual aesthetic, gameplay isn't terrible, wide cast of characters, and fun worldbuilding.

The grind is usually ramped up to an almost unbearable amount compared to a non-gacha game

depends entirely on the game, but ones that limit the amount you can play daily (so most of them) are definitely less of a time sink than most mmos. which is what you should be comparing them to, because both are designed to be relatively endless experiences

only bad gacha games (like fgo heh) don't have spark mechanics that let you guarantee specific characters a couple times a year if you have any self control whatsoever

all that being said, they do still obviously rely on people acting irrationally because of gambling addiction, but if you legit have no money (like me looooool) you can strongarm a lot of enjoyment out of them without spending a penny. some like princess connect are even downright generous with their rates and mechanics (you get a shitton of rolls for free, you can farm any nonlimited character older than like 2-3 months old, there's a spark mechanic in addition to all those rolls so you can pretty much get anyone you really want, almost all of your power is separated from the gacha, and limited stamina means the most amount of time you spend per day is like five minutes maybe)

Horimiya has been pretty good so far. On ep10. Thankfully it's a romcom, so it avoids most drama. Romdram can be good, but sometimes they're draining to watch.

theres a bit of drama, but at least it's never about anything serious because the main couple pair up very early on and are pretty unshakable
