Take off the nostalgia goggles before watching. Psdouble for example. Seemed great at the tine but most titles were shovelware and I mainly used it for a dvd player. Plus it cost like 600 dollars iirc

Yes, it's harder to overturn youtube channel takedowns without company backing. And yes, the most notable ones tend to be part of a company. But I think that's mostly just because companies can provide advertising/publicity, support with things like tech / avatars / designs / etc, help push for tie-ins / collabs outside the company, and just generally assist in managing things

There's so many random small indie vtubers (or even just smallish companies) that aren't really well known because they don't have the instant publicity that comes from being attached to a big known brand name. Can't get big if you don't stand out somehow for people to find you in the first place

That's what I'm referring to. When small indie vtubers get unjustly shut down they can't do anything about it and either have to create a new channel, create a public outcry with help from reddit and twitter, or give it up while company associated vtubers usually get overturned within the day.

Spongebob had job related humor and plots while MLP had to force obvious morals in every episode and the plots are very cliche. Although that does stop in later seasons once they ran out of morals and started making more complicated arcs with plots that actually focus on the character's jobs.
But Spongebob also doesn't really get into its stride until season 2
