Edit: Oh and the 2016 Fake News fiasco and massive private data leaks and bots (Yahoo! comments used to be good (albeit wild) until they shut it mostly down last year mostly b/c of the bots)

Yeah, Facebook is pretty awful now. I refuse to upload any new pics of myself or my family there. I dont post personal info, work, relationships etc, so even to my friends, my page looks like what some would say is a bot account.

Most people would rather post their braindead ramblings on social media. Most people also prefer to see video of game related stuff rather than trying to parse text. I just realized that it's kind of insane that GFAQs never made a move to video.

You only have your opinion terminated on a website so many times before you stop posting it there. I feel like the turnout of the polls is in part due to how many users are treated here.

Video walkthroughs dont cover everything all the time because the producers of them have to race each other to get the info out. I was really surprised to find info on the newest Valhalla update the same day it released. Were still trying to figure out how to get one small chest in one of the forts.

Eh, when we had a flood at one point in my childhood we didn't need any special proof of what was destroyed/lost. We got money for literally anything we told them was destroyed. We could have made stuff up and got even more money.

I'm very much under the impression that people who don't get anything that they want from insurance, or other companies, are just not very good on the phone and just accept whatever is told to them instead of complaining really hard until they get what they want

The part where people tell them they had whatever is why premiums go up and makes what CFD said make sense. I just think ours is more like you said honour based and you dont have to do their homework for them. Because prices for items change, so you shouldnt be locked-in at what you tell them initially.

Homeowners would cover something, but you're SOL unless you catalog and value everything. Granted, thieves are going to steal more than your games most of the time so there's a lot more to worry about during a full-on burglary. Granted, a lot of thieves are more the smash & grab type so they'll get in there, they'll grab cash and small high-value items, and get out. They aren't going to bother with video games most of the time, or they're not going to grab much.

There are cameras in the building and Im on the fourth floor, so Im good on the burglary. The only time Ive ever had something stolen are when the movers moved my stuff from my moms when I was living in Calgary. Lost AC2/3 collectors editions.

I dont think US insurance is the same as Canadian insurance, not in in a good way. At least as far as vehicle insurance goes. So I expect renter/home to be similar.

Haha! I keep unpacking a lot of old stuff from boxes that have been in storage for ten-plus years. My PS2 and GC both had controllers, mem cards and RE4 in the GC still. Will fire it up and see where I left off a decade ago.

FF12 isnt as rare sealed, but I think that RE4 is in the USD $200 range in sealed/new condition. The good RE2 and 3, as well as CVX are sealed as well.

I have no idea. That would have to be determined if the situation arose. I have a lot of CEs and classic CIBs. Ive never checked or estimated the value of my collection. Its about the principle more than the cost, although, I would have to be really shortchanged to seek legal counsel on the matter.

Years ago I went to the bank to get a vehicle loan for $15,000 CAD for a car. They wouldnt give it to me because the return on the car wasnt worth the loan by their books. I told them the car would go up in value. The same car is now worth $45,000 USD.

Companies would rather use some BS figures from a book than trust professional collectors for evaluating cost of an item. In some cases they would benefit from a default on a loan.

Everything is listed, so Ill get paid-out for my inconvenience. If they dont pay me out properly, I have my lawyer on speed dial.

People just want to be wrong about whatever it is theyre wrong about. Ive used examples from film that are factual and easily researchable, and people will call it out as fiction because its from a movie.

Its funny how movies can make people think about a situation from a different standpoint, but an opinion on the internet will just make the reader want to argue.
