Why is there a loli in this show and why make the robot get into a kid clone body to get with her

Assuming this isn't a joke post, Monster Girl is an adult who keeps getting aged backwards due to the curse that gives her her combat abilities. Robot always wanted a clone body because of what his real body was like. He formed (what he considered to be) a strong bond with Monster Girl, so he based his new body at least partly on what he thought she liked. Robot is obviously socially and emotionally stunted so it is a bit creepy.

I'd like to bring up another issue: disability. If you're on disability, you either need to be able to jump from disability straight to earning enough to support yourself with benefits like health insurance, or you need to not work at all. If you earn money while on disability, it is subtracted from your monthly check. If work and earn any money too many months in a given time frame (not even consecutive months, mind) you lose both your financial assistance and your state medical coverage.

The advice to just improve yourself and everything will be fine absolutely goes to shit if you have expensive medical bills. It's hard as hell to get insurance that will pay for anything expensive in the United States. And when they do pay, it isn't enough. My mother had an excellent professional job with health insurance, and she had more spending money once she got on disability than she did while working because her medical costs were so high.

The final trap with disability is that, while you are on disability, you aren't allowed to save money or have assets that are worth much. You can't try to work because you lose benefits, you can't save up any money because you lose benefits, and it is often impossible to get the kind of medical coverage you need to stay alive and function unless you stay on disability. And those monthly checks? You'd literally be making more if you could get 40 hours of minimum wage.

The system is designed to create suffering and to take away personal autonomy. It's disgusting.

I loved Sonic 3 growing up, but looking back, there were a lot of puzzling design decisions that should have been addressed before they released it. The barrel was the worst, but Marble Garden wasn't exactly a walk in the park either. And the last level kind of sucked balls. Sonic and Knuckles was the better game by far, but the best stages in 3 were better.

This. Also, even if it were as the TC presented it, the "defunding" of the police is being set up to fail because, while citizens would like the police to be reformed, politicians and police unions don't want that at all, so any "reforms" you get are set up to fail so they can point at the failure and say that slashing police budgets, requiring accountability for bad officers, or exploring alternatives to heavily policing people are all ridiculous ideas.

TopicDo you think you would ever put your parents in a nursing home?
darkmaian23
03/07/21 7:25:45 PM

It's not as though you always get a choice. If your parent gets dementia for example, after a certain point, they need care 24/7 that most people wouldn't be able to give them even if they had the time or money. it can depend on disease progression too. My father got dementia-like symptoms from metastatic brain cancer, and if he hadn't rapidly weakened, he would have needed to be institutionalized because he was both violent and paranoid. Depending on how far gone they are, they won't necessarily know who you are, where they are, or what you are doing for them.

Putting an elder into a nursing home is sometimes just the best decision for everyone involved, and sometimes it really isn't even a choice. I don't know how common either situation is, but I felt I had to say something on behalf of families that get dealt a bad hand.

Unregulated capitalism will doom the United States. It's true that prices will go up if minimum wage goes up, but that is only one part of a larger truth. Companies have the goal of maximizing profits. Prices will continually go up anyway, and there will always be a strong push to make workers do more work or automate so that you need to pay fewer people. In my town, they've cut employees, both from office jobs and manual labor, citing COVID as the reason, and they have no plans of hiring anyone else no matter how shit it makes service. At a local store--whose only COVID change is folks wearing masks--everyone is dead on their feet because they've decided to get by with fewer workers now because it saves money. If anyone wants time off or sick time and won't come into work, they get fired.

Some places like Walmart know they are paying far too little and actually teach employees how to apply for government assistance like food stamps. The government has to subsidize minimum wage workers because minimum wage isn't enough to live on, and no, claiming it is for teenagers and new workers is BS. There are too many jobs that want to pay that much for society to function if it worked like conservatives fantasize it does. And it isn't as though you are somehow worth less as person for working at Walmart. Workers deserve to be paid a fair wage. And before you start complaining that minimum wage workers don't deserve to be paid as much a skilled workers, here is the thing: skilled workers ought to make more too! The flow of money has become completely lopsided in favor of the super rich and giant companies that can't be broken up or regulated because of sweet sweet campaign contributions.

Eventually the system is just going to break.

Yeah, if the standard here for qualified immunity is that cops had to believe their actions were legal, it definitely shouldn't have applied because nobody would think that unless they were lying. It's REALLY disheartening that all nine justices sided with the officers here. This sort of ruling sucks for everyone, including the officers that have to work with these two in the future. All cops aren't bad, but it sure is awfully hard to hold the bad ones accountable no matter how egregious the offense.
