Kojima is a pioneer who worked laboriously both in the Miyamoto golden age (on the original Metal Gear) as well as the dawn of the polygon (on Metal Gear Solid) ~ helping to bring games into a more serious light. Its like comparing Table Tennis to Volleyball. Theyre really apples & oranges, but one clearly has a certain edge in terms of greatness.

Chronicle was good and the way it was filmed was good.

With found footage type films, the real trick is getting the acting right. Any hint of fakery or Hollywood nonsense throws the entire thing down the drain. You can ride the gap with comedy, but thats about it. District 9 did a great job with that during the interviews, raids, and other segments mixed with traditional editing & cameras. They made it funny.

With found footage, youre either going pure guerrilla film-crew.... or you gotta be funny. Mockumentaries perfected both styles long ago. Get some nobodies, suffocate them with Hollywood character-acting head-games, film the result. Better yet, grab some people who really believe in the kind of crap youre filming. Its very interesting to watch.

It gets a little more complicated than that, but thats the answer basically. Even if you didnt understand that you were breaking a law, you can be charged with a crime. It gets very case-by-case & in some instances they have to leave it up to a jury to decide. Then it gets taken before another jury. And reviewed. And reviewed again. And so on and so forth. Blah.

I think some areas of the US are extraordinarily strict on the insanity plea too. Like, they get charged & committed instead of simply being committed & declared innocent. No Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity ~ just guilty & insane. Something like that. Idk, its been awhile since Ive read about it. Id be surprised if this person walked, on a number of level.

Time and observation. I think it's mostly a way to explain the unexplained and a coping mechanism for death. I wouldnt take that away from people because it does help.

The thing that gives religion legitimacy is how long it's been supported. But if you knew nothing of religion and I told you that some omnipotent being in the sky is going to let you be tortured for eternity after you die because you touched yourself at night, youd probably think I was crazy.

The problem comes where legitimate albeit inmetttled religious people who are already deviating from the quiet life end up running into for the first time.... political religion, religious cults, pagan religion, and devil-worship religion (veiled or otherwise) without ever having made the personal journey (for whatever reason) and have no such foundation/individual relationship with a higher power to protect their belief system from being destroyed then and there. Most people take the dogmas (take any version of it too) and begin forming their own interpretations & whatnot...... Thats been the great debate since forever, basically. The other thing that happens is people can start asking questions and up forgetting that they care about the answer.

Be really careful with how you subscribe to these sorts of diagnoses. Imagine if a doctor told you that you might be sick, but he cant prove it, and you might just be a normal person who needs to drink more water & get away from domestic stressors.... but again, he isnt sure so he wants to try giving you a bunch of medicine that will definitely give you crazy side effects & cause dependency.

Also, hed like to do a few invasive tests & have you see him weekly. Because thats the gist of (well say) a LOT of mainstream psychology & psychiatry. Theres a huge difference between someone with an eating disorder & someone with diabetes, although they are sometimes related and there can be overlap.

Maybe try moving away from the stressors, drinking more water, exercising, and doing what makes you happy first before plugging yourself into a theoretical equation, rummaged by people who claim to understand the human mind... but theyre still in the process of understanding it.... but still, Trust us. We understand. We just cant prove it.

People arent robots. People are quirky & specialized. No such thing as a picture-perfect normal brain or a picture-perfect normal body for that matter. Anyone who is trying to categorize your personality into a nice neat little box, without taking into account the vastness of the human experience, performing a few X-Rays, and bothering to have you cross-examined.... is not someone you should trust with your cognition.

Diagnosing someone with a brain disorder without ever performing any real medical tests is the real insanity.

Mortal Kombat: Deception was on my mind today. I got to learn about all sorts of things I never knew existed. Because they didnt. But some of them did. So? Thats kinda interesting. And theres tons of fan-favorites you can only fight in Adventure Mode, like... guys they skinned up or lifted from DA, who can only be encountered in little quests. I dont think Ive played anything quite like that before or since.

I replayed Sonic Adventure for the first time since I was a kid a year ago. It was shockingly bad. Maybe 2 is better, but 1 was so bad I had no desire to play a sequel. It's funny because I thought it was awesome as a kid on DreamCast.

It is. But you gotta be in the right mindset for that. If youre paying attention to the graphics & approaching it with a Souls-level player-skill, and dont identify with Sonics relationship with Amy, and arent afraid of Chaos, and arent getting lost in the levels..... Its just not gonna hit home the same way. I still have no interest in 99.999% of Sonic, although I have respect for the Crown Jewels of the franchise.

I stopped caring about Sonic games after 3 & CD. Adventure was a landmark game & Adventure 2 improved on that system greatly. Besides that? The Flickies? The Chaotix? The anime besides the OVA? Thats not stuff thats meant for me, I think. Theres plenty of people out there who like Sonic, but dont want it to be dark or serious or hard. And they dont want mainstream attention from the heavyweight crowd.

The movie was another clear sign of that. Trying to have an intelligent discussion about the redesign was a nightmare. People just did not care if the CGI took a hit. They didnt care if it became generic. They didnt care that the first design looked fine in motion & passed around these minced-up stills & concept art around the internet demanding that the movie be taken from the ground up. Then, they celebrated this event as a victory & had very strange discussions about Detective Pikachu.

Same with Spider-Man. It shouldnt bother me that theyre catering to a new audience. We aint reading or watching Spider-Man every day, or dressing up as Spider-Man for Halloween. We dont want to be Spider-Man when we get older. We dont need a little help transitioning from learning the alphabet to getting used to the prospect of going for a run. Its just important to understand that these franchises geared towards younger people cant possibly meet both ends, IMO. I remember when all the older heads reared at me for loving Ultimate Spider-Man back in the day. Same thing is happening here.

Same with Star Wars. If you venture outside the main films, a few gems of the EU, and a handful of stellar games.... dont be surprised when you run into a heap of junk. Its always been that way. Even back in the day, if you werent upset about the Ewoks, you were upset about Slave Leia. Theyre trying to ride the line between impressing film buffs, selling teddy bears, selling action figures, and pioneering special effects techniques for the rest of Hollywood. What can you expect from that?

What we could use in total is Adventure 3, but with the way the playerbase has become divided & united in the past few generations, I dont see that really being a thing. People are fine with Breath of the Wild, for example. She aint Ocarina of Time. She aint no Sonic Adventure neither. Nor is she a Shadow of the Colossus. The new kids are looking for *their* golden goose is whats happening. I wish them the best of luck. Sometimes it skips a generation. The sooner theyre confronted with better VR, the better, IMO.

Hes a hedgehog who stole Samuss shoes & Gokus powers. Werewolves were popular at the time. Souls was popular at the time. DBZ made a comeback. Looks normal to me. I love alternate versions of Spawn. Apparently these people love alternate versions of Sonic. Im fine with it. Remember when you dropped off Power Rangers but the younger people around you who didnt get into the one you watched started to pick it up and then the exact same thing happened to them? No problem. It just means youre ready for the next level.

• Dark Souls II requiem for Bloodborne

Just the mixture of alien & occult, the use of females as a theme, obscure bio-machinery, a dark realm, promises of power & warnings of doom, etc ~ They hit those notes perfectly for those games.

Demons Souls had the Giger elements more on the back burner, so I guess their original intention was to return to the Gothic Medieval style from the first Shadow Tower before it became Demons Souls or whatever the story was there.

Miyazaki seems more opted to have collections of fairy tale creatures & mythology, which is leaning back more towards the original intention of their RPGs anyway I think. As opposed to rescaping everything through the lense of Giger & Lovecraft. However.....

It is worth noting that the former/latter is what has proven to really stick with people. Theres always two sides to any story.

If we want to really redux this whole thing. We should be modeling after the original Dracula novel free of the proceeding cornerstones, and likewise with the original Frankenstein, going back to Da Vinci & Escher. Gamewise, needs to looked at towards Metroid & Resident Evil trilogy. Those babies are essentially how we go to where were at anyway. Actually I think theyve been doing a pretty darn good job with that, all things considered.

Dark Seed is right up my alley. I am just waiting for the opportune moment to play it. Theres two of them, if I recall correctly.

His art absolutely tells a story, which is very special for just how surreal it really all is. Theres this perfect mixture of familiarity meets alienation, attraction meets repulsion, man meets machine, male meets female, life meeting death, and so on and so forth. Its washed, but sheen. Heavy contrast. Honestly? He may have been the greatest artist of the modern era ~ opening up a door for entire waves of other surrealists to follow, and sort of bridging the gap between fantasy & abstraction a little bit there. What I love to see is his continued fixation on the Xenomorph, Derelict, & Space Jockey archetypes. Thats how most of us were introduced to him and he was correct in sticking to that subject matter. He also seemed to genuinely enjoy it. So, I love that

I finished Secret of Blue Water. Did some lite reading up on it. The studio execs really harmed the momentum by Im assuming extending what was the island stranding section to draw out the length of the run. Yuck. Otherwise, wow. What a way to build myself up for the final Evangelion

Basically, this was extremely fascinating. Especially with my palette & having literally just watched Metropolis 2001 hours before starting Nadia. Wow. The rebuilds make so much sense in hindsight. I got what I wanted out of that show. Best anime Ive seen in a long, long time.

I just wanna know who hawked all my MK ideas to NetherRealm, and if they understand that Im relatively kool with it and would they like to see the concept art from 2013? The intention was never to profit off of it anyway. It was never meant to see the light of day. Attention Ed Boon: You need to stick Jade in a suit & tie. That shit would be hot.
