It seems like hollywood was complete wild west until it started improving maybe around 1980. Like that seemed the time when children of famous people started becoming child actors. So like they knew the shit that was going down and kept and eye on it more or something.

by the 90s on it seemed like it was more the parents abusing the kids than the studios.

It's already going critical. Birth rates are plummeting and the US is going to be in rough shape for the future decades. You can say the same thing for most developed countries actually.

US is doing quite well actually. Immigration and birth rates of immigrants is what is helping us. US will be closer to 500M people in 2100 than 350M.

Germany is probably most screwed western country. France and UK are doing ok, they could have slow and steady growth or decline.

Japan is most screwed. They should have ~60% of their current population by 2100.

Initial lockdowns were
1) Hope to contain the disease
2) Stop hospitals to get overcrowded
3) We didn't have enough ventilators
4) All of our treatments of the disease at first were really poor.

Current with delta varient:
1) There is no hope contain COVID.
2) 70% of people are vaccinated, hospitals will do fine.
3) We have a surplus of ventilators
4) We have more treatments now for the disease and better understand it.

Only an alarmist or shut in would call for another lock down.

You open your eyes and suddenly you are your 13 year old self. A man with a microphone is saying congratulations, you are the grand prize contestant for this first ever Nickelodeon's Super Toy Run! You have 5 minutes to fill up as many shopping carts as you can with as many toys as you want and you get to keep them! Once the 5 minutes is up, you and as many carts filled with toys in the cart return are teleported back to where you are right now.

Suddenly your stomach drops. This. was. your. dream. You planned for this for years but that was decades ago.

The carts are smaller child sized carts, not the typical full sized retail carts. Figure 2' long, 18" deep, 18" wide, or 4.5 cubic feet. Figure each cart, if games are put in carefully, could handle 120 video games. If put in haphazardly, 60 video games. That would just be "inside" the cart. You can have it over flowing, but that will slow down your return unless you want stuff spilling out.

Attached is rough diagram of the store. Basic rule is small, expensive items are further back, small cheap stuff near the registers, large items on the sides, girls stuff close to entrance, then just organized in ways that make sense. If you have questions where something is located let me know.

The distance between cart and cart return would take ~20 seconds.
Carts to back of video game entrance would take maybe 30 seconds, and then 20 seconds to cart return from entrance.

A reasonably number of trips might be:
2 trips to video games careful stacking.
Or 1 careful stacking + 1 action figures + 1 board games.
2 trips action figures plus 1 front of store (legos/girls/board games, bikes)
Or 4 trips front store (legos, girls, board games, bikes)

do you have the action replay plus 4mb cart? Gotta make sure you get one of those for imports.

Guardian Heroes. For $250 worth it for US version. Don't get JPN.
Saturn Bomberman. Feel free to get JPN version to get cheaper. Not worth the $500 asking for US version.
Bomberman Wars (JPN only) tactical RPG, around $20.
Nights into dreams - At $80-100 one of the cheaper good US games. JPN version will cost you $10 and come with Christmas Nights if you want.
Christmas Nights
Burning Rangers - If you buy it buy it closer to the $600 than $1000 for US version. PAL like $200-300. Toss up on if it is worth it. I'd rather have 4 cheaper games than 1 of this. Graphics look particularly dated on this game.
Dragon Force (i dont actually like this game but a lot of people love it). Lots of text but story really doesn't matter on this one, JPN version perfectly playable. US is like $300-400, JPN is like $25. Also JPN only sequel if you like the first.
Albert's Odyssey - $300 for US. Only version worth buying if you want it. If you find yourself considering the jpn version get the SNES cart instead.
Legends of Oasis - For only $150ish again one of the cheapest good games. People are sleeping on this one, get it before its another $500 game. Don't get JPN version, too much reading.
Panzer Dragoon Saga (again I don't actually like it all that much but a lot of people claim to love it. The battle mechanics are very innovative for 1997 or whenever it released). Don't buy it. Not worth JPN version, too much reading, not wroth $1200 for US or 600 for PAL.
Panzer Dragoon Zwei. I don't know its worth the purchase price, but its fun for a few hours. But rail shooters I get tired of.
Metal Slug (JPN, ram needed, think it only uses 1mb though) $100 but best version this side of a Neo Geo.
X-Men children of the atom - not worth it at $100+ for US
Marvel Super Heroes - Probably not worth it at $150-200 for US.
X-Men vs Street Fighter (JPN, ram needed) - Worth it at $40ish
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter (JPN, ram needed). - Goes for like $150, honestly not worth it unless you much prefer those characters to the X-men ones.
Castlevania SOTN (JPN, better than PSN version) - Only get if you love the game and just wish it had better animations. Goes for about as much as black label PS1 version. Search for "Dracula X" if you want to chance upon a jpn seller that doesn't list it as symphony of the night. happens sometimes and you can snag it for like $50-100 instead of $150.
Magic Knight Rayearth. Get passed the cutesy cover and characters and its a great game.

Burning Rangers - Imagine 3d megaman only you only get the mega buster (chargeable), and rather than you being a robot fighting robots, you are a fire fighter fighting ... fires. Surprising awesome game given the premise

Shining Force 3, all 3 scenarios. Scenario 1 is available US, PAL, JPN. Rest are JPN. Also a "premium" disc that, given the sort of game, is actually really fun. The premium disc just has a bunch of boss battles and OST and various stuff on it. I'd definitely recommend scenario 1 and then premium disc. 2 and 3 you need a translation guide to play with.

I sort of get what TC is talking about, for me I think it is that I categorize men and women differently.

Men i categorize like
head: attractive, normal, something weird or maybe bad hair style, busted
body: good shape, thin, dad bod, fat, slob
Most busted faces can be made normal with a beard.

Women i categorize like
face: super hot, hot, attractive, pretty, cute, average, below average, weird, busted, unfortunate
hair: looks amazing, it works, neutral, bad haircut
body: sub-categories- breasts, ass, waist, legs, each with multiple ratings

So for a women to be super hot face with amazing hair and high points on breast, ass, waist, legs, that never happens in the real world. But for men with an attractive face that are in shape, there's lots of them I see around.

the entire time you are playing is about equal to brisk walking on a flat surface. I mean go to the driving range and get 50 balls and see what that feels like. It's not like a serious work out, but if you live a sedentary life style you will build up a sweat and feel sore.

I walk my dog daily for 30 minutes, I jog a couple times a week, just trying to keep it so I can jog 5k and lift 3 times a week, but I'm a good 40-50 pounds overweight right now. I can do 9 holes without any drop off in performance, but 18 holes gets to be a bit much for my current condition. If I dropped 50 pounds I bet I could have been at 84 or 85 today.

We normally play from blacks but blues are ok. So everyone I play with is a former athlete, we can all hit it far. What we can't necessarily do it is hit it consistently, keep it on the fairway, and putt. But, we like hitting it far. Further away = more opportunities to hit it far.

Last year, different course but same group, the only 18 holes I did that year hit 96 taking gimme puts inside club length.

First full 18 I've played this year, 6,323 yds par 72 playing 2nd furthest back pin. We normally play furthest back but that was 6,66x yards and there was a catholic saying he would be hitting from blue and no way im letting someone hit closer, so we all went blue.

https://www.riverbendgolfcomplex.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6501/2017/06/2019-30th-Anniversary-Scorecard.pdf

From my last time out I've got a new driver (Ping G30) and new putter (Odyssey 2 Ball white hot putter). I went with an illegal number of clubs in my bag (16, brought my old driver and putter in case I needed them, I did not).

No birdies but some good pars.
First hole I drove about 270, no real warm up. But that ended up good, was on fairway, did a short pitching wedge (i need more wedges, 48* is least club). On the green 10' from hole. I put straight on but 1' short. Blame it on the new club, par.

Fifth hole was a 124 yard par 3. Again take the pitching wedge. I don't know how to get back spin or anything, so I was just trying to hit it high with like 80% of my swing. It's a huge green so I still ended up on the curtain, but like 50' away. New putter again, but mallet putter, good weight behind it. Overshoot by about 10' but only like 1-2' off line for the hole. Get par on 10'.

18th hole was a 529 yard par 5 with like a 110* bend midway, have to do a short drive or you end up in the sand bunkers. I drive with 2 hybrid. Normally a 210-220 yard club with roll. I hit it pretty good but nothing particularly amazing in flight, but it bounces something fierce. End up in bunkers like 240 yards from pin. Have to chip out barely moving forwards but back on the fairway. Go back to 2 hybrid, solid 220 yard shot still on the fairway. Back to the pitching wedge and hit a high shot short. Putt from 12" and hit it dead on. I really like the lining up of this putter. Making a huge difference. My best recovery of the day.

Ended up 42 through first 9 (the 8th hole was where i hit birdie last time, shorter up this time did a bogey which was disappointing).

Back 9 took its toll on me though, shot 46 there for a round score of 88.

I can see myself breaking 80 on this course. At my current rate of growth I'd guess... next year? Year after? I played really well for myself today. Like I didn't take any gimme putts. Only one triple bogey and nothing over triple bogey.

Ya'll should get your swing on.

Jan. 1 1990 put all my liquid cash into Dell. $50k would get me 862k* shares (i would end up with 862k shares, I think i would start with something 9k shares but lots of splits)
Sell end of 99.

take $5M of that and retire with beach side house in san diego.

Remaining $40M take and put in Apple between 00 and 03. Wouldn't want to do it too quickly, that would drive up the price. Should be able to end up with equivalent of about 150M shares currently. By 2010 I should be worth ~3B from the initial $50k. In 2010 sell all my apple. Buy netflix, dominos, tesla.

At this point in time i'm worth ~180B if my math is right.

at that point get out of the stock market and get into real estate and land development.

Most rent to own I hear about have a slightly higher rent. Like market rent is $1400, you pay $1700 or $300 extra a month. In 5 years, $200 of that $300 becomes (part of) the down payment of the renter wants to buy. The owner keeps $100 because they are freezing the price at whatever was agreed to at the time (normally a bit higher than current but lower than projected in 5 years).

Quite a few people I worked with at Boeing got them between like 2005 and 2009. Most didn't stay long enough for the "down payment" so they just paid more than market rate.
