Which is the best brand of power tools?

Or what do you have of the most? Im going with Dewalt personally, their power tools always either force more, function smoothly, or have basic amenities (Im looking at you impactor drills with no sleeves that go over screws.. why the fuck would you ever get one without it) out of the box that just work

Milwaukee aint bad tho honestly, you can feel free to add whichever brand.. Husky precision screwdrivers are phenomenal

Haven't used every brand there, but I've had better experiences with Milwaukee tools. Dewalt was good too.

The Project Farm YT channel does alot of product testing, including power tools.

No one brand wins every category, it's best to tailor your product choice based on test data & results.

Maybe Bosch these days.

Dewalt and mikita have fallen off a bit and Milwaukee have gotten a lot better than they used to be but they're still not top tier.

Kobalt doesn't deserve to be on the list. I prefer Hitachi.

Overall, Milwaukee. Most of my tools are Makita, though, since my Dad use to be a Makita salesman.

For cordless power tools, I think Milwaukee easily wins. For corded and gas powered, I think Makita wins, but their gas powered tends to contractor grade and over priced for my needs so it's not a big bonus to them.

Dewalt comes in at 3. Bosch at 4. Maybe Ryobi 5? Kobalt, Ridgid, Craftsman, Stanley all tied at 6.

Hitli is unranked. Never used.

Pretty sure makita is one of the only brands that isn't part of a bigger umbrella of companies nowadays.

You might be thinking of ryobi.

For stuff around your own home, its hard to beat Ryobi prices.

if I was a contractor or something, I might go with dewalt/Milwaukee.

I use Ryobi everything at home, no issues.

Rebranded on the show, or did Binford have an actual line of products?

Rebranded on the show. Originally the TV producers had reached out to Makita, allegedly because Tim Allen was a fan of Makita. But the decision was made by Makita Japan who didn't see how this could help them and could only hurt by having a bumbling fool using their tools.

Could have been the best advertising ever.

Yeah, but that feel from getting a new tool.. stroking it, using it, and then patting it like it was your favorite child

That may be one of the most important parts of going out and purchasing a tool tbh, I know I definitely went with Dewalt because they're yellow colored

but really, then I tried other ones and was like man these operate like poo

I wasn't aware Porter / Cable has as broad of a offering as they do. They have excellent corded stuff I have used. Routers, planer, bench grinder. i wasn't even aware they had a battery offering now though. ive had great experience with them.

Makita is the most reliable and makes up the majority of my cordless tools.

dewalt tools are affordable and really good but their batteries suck.

Milwaukee tools and batteries are really good but expensive and, the tools at least seem to fail more than the other 2 I mentioned. The good thing about them though, is if a tool/battery breaks the Milwaukee rep at Home Depot will usually swap it out for free.

I work in construction.

This is why I like Battery Adapters, no need to be locked into a brands proprietary battery housing.

Get the tool you want, from the brand you want.

Adapt battery as necessary.
