Havent played one yet, but I want the newest one for 3DS. It looked really good.

It's alright. There's a lot to do, and it's an alright challenge, but the plot doesn't hold up like it did in Rescue Team or Explorers.

If you have three consecutive numbers starting from x, then you have

x + (x+1) + (x+2)

but that equal 3x + 3, or rather 3(x+1).

I don't really have any cool number facts to share at the moment, but have a diagram showing what each trig ratio actually "represents" rather than being some arbitrary-ass ratio you learn in grade school. (Plus a fuckton of trig functions no one uses anymore.)



It's always neat to see how something you just blindly memorize actually has some rationale behind it.

Yeah that definitely is Light's biggest flaw, the whole "god of the new world" schtick. It wouldn't be that hard to remain in hiding and careful, if he thought things through.

Of course, then the show wouldn't be as interesting either if Light did things right. Wouldn't be a story to tell.

because people who are vaccinated can still get infected -- it's just less likely, and less likely that it'll be serious/life-threatening, but it's still a concern -- and can still spread it

"Let the unvaccinated take the risk" is an incredibly idiotic and shortsighted take. Some people have legit medical reasons for being unable to get the vaccine (for instance: my grandmother has allergies, and my grandfather an autoimmune condition, and both have been told by their doctors to not get it).

These sorts of people are precisely the people we're trying to protect by trying to defeat the virus and achieve some semblance of herd immunity.

Sure. Fuck antivaxx morons, but don't fuck those who don't even have the choice in the first place. Penalize them in other ways.

Wait I didn't know that. So if you had a shiny swinub the egg you got could contain a shiny pokemon?

It's a little more complicated than that. Basically, DVs are inherited in a certain way in Generation II, and having certain DVs can give you a Shiny Pokemon.

To get a Shiny, you need

• Attack DV: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15
• Defense DV: 10
• Speed DV: 10
• Special DV: 10

When two Pokemon breed, it inherits its DVs from the opposite-gender parent, or from Ditto if Ditto is being used. Attack & Speed DVs will be random. The Defense DV will be carried over exactly, and the Special DV will be carried over or given a +/- 8 boost depending on its value.

So: with a Shiny Ditto,

• Attack has a 50% chance to be correct by randomness
• Defense will always be correct
• Special has a 50% chance to be correct due to its mechanics
• Speed has a 1/32 chance of being correct

which would give a 1/128 likelihood overall.

Though I think I'm wrong somewhere or not accounting for something, as the best rate I often hear cited is 1/64.

Not really. It's more that Shininess at the time was based on a pre-existing mechanic (DVs) - Gen 1 had DVs too, since they determine stat growth. They just didn't change how DVs work in Gen 2.

In Gen 3 they had the current IV system, and Shinies were pure RNG and not DV-based.
