There's been legal cases where people are let off due to old age. Also tons of legal loopholes have allowed lots of worse injustice to prevail in this world.

Yeah man but whataboutism has no place in justice. If something is wrong it's wrong. If you take that to it's logical conclusion murdered shouldn't be convicted because some get away with it? Not on board for that sorry.

Mackorov posted...
So given the finite resources we have to expend on the legal system, why even bother with trying an old woman Nazi for?

Because it's important to remember the tragedies that happened and that even after 75 years it's still wrong.

I don't disagree with your points about it being used inconsistently by the way. It definitely is and Nazi's are an easy (albeit obviously deserved) target. But that's more a case to push for more consistency than it is to let the nazi's go free.

I get why people say the HAHAHA one is the worst but at least it's it's own self contained bit to do with the developing relationship between Tidus and Yuna that's one and done.

The whole FF8 orphanage scene essentially fucks the entire plot of FF8 and jumps the shark to a point the game plot never fully recovers.

If it's a choice between a cringe worth 5 minute scene or one that ruins the next 40 hours of plot then I'll go with FF8.

Meanwhile here... "hey, let's hunt down an old 95-year old woman 'cos Nazi bad bad bad..."

Just taking a step back and concentrating on the topic of is it right to punish old people for crimes they committed in the past...

Do you feel there should be some sort of statute of limitations for when someone can be tried for a crime they committed?

Personally I don't. To me it's very important to ensure someone who breaks the law in a major way is tried no matter how long has passed since the crime. If not for punishing the person then at least for setting the standard that if you do bad you WILL be tried.

Anecdotal - (of an account) not necessarily true or reliable, because based on personal accounts rather than facts or research.

How is what I said at all anecdotal? It's all facts. Schindler's List, Anne Frank, Rommel refusing to let his troops attack Jewish civilians.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_of_Jews_during_the_Holocaust

There, that's a gateway to multiple countries and their helping Jews during World War 2 and specifically Nazi occupation at that time. Don't gaslight and act like people helping Jews wasn't some common thing.

Watch any movie or tv show depicting Nazi Germany with Jewish main characters and there is someone helping them.

Just to clarify. I'm not saying no one helped Jews during World War 2 nor that there weren't objections from within Germany itself and I apologise if that's how it came across. I guess my point is more I don't think any of us knows what we would do unless we were put in that situation. The Milgram experiments kinda show how easy it is to coerce someone into doing bad stuff.

There have been countless accounts of people saving Jewish people from the Nazi's.

Muslim communities, diplomats, German citizens, German soldiers and officers. Hell Nazi's helped save Jewish people from concentration camps.

This isn't one of those things were you "need evidence" as this has been common knowledge that people were saving Jews at this time from all walks of life.

I was thinking more what % of people. Not individual anecdotal evidence.

The Nuremberg trials were more for the purpose of the denazification of German than punishment. There was a good thread a few weeks back that went into detail on this shame its not still up.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denazification

Plus hundreds of guilty people were pardoned and formed the new German government and then there are those who were pardoned in the promise and accepted into other western governments in exchange for scientific secrets. Operation paper clip being one of, but not the only, well known examples of this.

Yea like massive gas fees.

One option I've heard of is using Layer 2 solutions. Move the smaller transactions to L2 so that Layer 1 can be decongested and only be used when you need some extra bit of security for major transactions (or something).

The Stakenet stuff I've been seen on about has been implementing a lot of L2 tech and I reckon they're geniunely capable of solving the problem of high fees and slow transaction times once their DEX comes out and as it matures over time.

It does not in any way rely on nostalgia to deliver its experience.

I agree as a standalone game it's still good. But you can't deny it reuses the map from the original with some tweaks and there are definite throwbacks to the original that you are going to miss if you didn't play it. So whereas it's not 100% based on nostalgia, not that I claimed that, it definitely helps and I feel someone who played LTTP is going to get more out of it.
