In Ontario, NFL Network is included in everything that isn't the most basic of TV packages, but one of our national networks carries the games anyways and you can't actually watch them on NFL Network.

I really don't like the forced girls/boys split team thing. It just doesn't make sense? Small complaint though.

It's 7 remake and it's not particularly close for me. I can't think of a more hyped game that delivers as well as it does. Amazing battle system, graphics and music. Questionable story/ending but let's see how it develops before we crap on it.

Persona 5 Royal comes second. The QOL improvements and added dungeon/confidants are amazing. Maybe technically a better game than 7 remake, but I don't want to give GOTY to an updated version of a three-year old game..

Third place is Cold Steel IV for being the conclusion to a massively impressive feat of storytelling across a number of titles, even if it's technically worse than the ones that came before it (aka the Return of the King award).

Fourth is 13 sentinels, which I'm currently playing. I'm 31% story completion and I'm kind of wishing the story was just told in order. **** is so confusing. Good though! I guess if it was told in a semi-chronological fashion it would be boring but damn it makes my head hurt. I surprisingly like the battles too, though they seem pretty simple so far (44% completion on battles).

Fifth is Hades. I didn't like it enough to continue beating it to continue the story, but it was pretty fun.

A lot of states just won't plain test children without symptoms (like where I am). I don't agree with it either.

I'd say you should probably quarantine regardless and assume he has what is most likely a mild/asymptomatic carrier. Have you been in contact with the kid since?

If you really want it to be a "celebration of gaming" the last three slots should be Lara, Crash, and Master Chief, but I doubt we get any of these.

I still hate Fie and Alisa's CS3 & 4 designs. i'd say really the only original class 7-er who looks better is Elliot. Crow too if he counts.

good list. I'd put cold steel 4 on there but it definitely doesn't work as a stand alone game, which is a valid argument for keeping it off these lists I think.

Yeah, I think most of the western fans seem to hate the harem aspects of the bonding events. (Although a lot of people like Fie and Sara - I'm more turned off by Altina/Elise/Alfin. )

It would be one thing if they could be optional. Like if I could do a bonding event with Altina and not have the relationship go all weird. But the game doesn't give you a choice. And the bonding events are actually good in this game too, which adds to the tragedy. Like you should be able to choose to "turn on/off the heart" before you commit to a bonding event. All the game would really need to do is take out some dialogue boxes.

You might say "but no one complains about Persona?" Actually people did complain about this a lot in Persona, but even so, it handles it way better than Cold Steel in that 1) it normally gives you a chance to friendzone/have a platonic relationship with them, or 2) in a game like P3, getting into a social link with a character doesn't normally go against all previously built-up characterization (debatable I guess).

Personally I didn't have a problem with the huge cast, although I can also see how it would have been nice if the game had written out characters who had undergone closure in their arcs in the last game. Like, unless you're going to actually give Sara something to do, go have her be doing Bracer stuff rather than just taking up space in the menu.

Then again, I admire it for the sheer spectacle of having 90% of the playable casts over a decade plus of games.

It's fun to go back to CS1 to see how far the modeling/animation/battle system has come

like looking at everyone awkwardly walk around like top heavy mannequins is really something after CS4

2 > 3 > 4 > 1

Something about 2 just resonates with me. Love the pacing and the relative freedom. Like the extended epilogue. Best character designs overall. Kind of into how overdrive/rebellion quartz breaks the game.

3 is 1 but better in most ways. I like the ending here better than 1.

4 could have been better than 3, but Act 2 is padding.

1 is "set-up: the game" and that's fine and all but I just prefer the other ones.

I'm all for risky theory-making, don't get me wrong. Before CSIV released I would've bet money that Bardias was the last awakener but no.

I also briefly thought that Machias could be the grandmaster of Ouroborous because he's simply too boring otherwise

Did you play all three Trails in the Sky games before playing Cold Steel? I've long wanted to get into Cold Steel, but I haven't beaten TitS SC yet though I think I'm close [late-ish game spoilers]

I played the first two Sky games, then the first two Cold Steel games, then the 3rd sky game, then CSIII and IV. I think this works just fine.

Haven't played Crossbell; thinking about it even though I never go for fan translations

Honestly I can't relate to this topic because I finished Cold Steel IV and was left with a huge void. Can't bring myself to feel excited about any of the games in my backlog or any coming up in the immediate future.
