Topic | New Remnant: From the Ashes DLC is out today |
GeneralKenobi85 08/20/20 3:36:46 PM #11 | Touch posted... The game was a fun third person shooter variant of a soulslike but man did it love cheesing you by swarming you with infinite adds during boss fights. Also there is a bit of jank here and there and not the most aesthetically pleasing game, but was definitely fun for sure.I wouldn't really call it cheesing. The fights are mostly designed in a way that the add spawns at least make sense. It might feel like the game is just throwing them at you at random, but it's not the case. I think the early part of the game doesn't give a great impression because it's a while before you can really expand both your weapon and armor pool. And right out of the gate you are likely to get at least one potential boss where adds are a major part of the battle. Shroud and Gorefist can both be pretty tough for a newcomer, and you're probably going to fight one of them. As far as aesthetics, I think the game looks pretty good. Rhom especially. Prestoff posted... I'm specifically talking about the dlc.I haven't gotten far enough to say yet. Just did the first dungeon, which was decent. More puzzle oriented than most dungeons are. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

GeneralKenobi85 08/20/20 12:38:58 PM #7 | Hexenherz posted... I kind of want to get it, gave me some minor Secret World vibes with the monster and world design. No, it doesn't have anything like that. But the game is still incredibly fun. A lot of people describe it as Dark Souls with guns, and you will see the similarities to it for sure. Also, the game is still quite good solo, so you don't necessarily need anyone to play it with. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

GeneralKenobi85 08/19/20 9:23:30 PM #15 | Definitely open world games. Fallout 4 really killed my interest in them. Breath of the Wild was an anomaly because on the surface it appears to have all the same issues I have with most other current open world games. But I thought it was phenomenal. Platformers and FPS are the two primary genres I've enjoyed my whole life I think. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

Throwing Knives are up there as well, though I think that one really begins to shine once you upgrade your Legendary Forge a bit more and get a bit more experience with the game. GeneralKenobi85 08/13/20 3:54:17 PM #8 | Also, probably the biggest thing that helps make the game significantly easier is Custom Mode. You can really narrow down your item pool to the top tier stuff. And as of the latest major update, money is very easy to come by and re-rolling shops is free. So it doesn't take much to get the gear you want. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |
Topic | How hard is Dead Cells? |
GeneralKenobi85 08/13/20 3:48:16 PM #6 | Schwarz posted... Yeah, base game is a good challenge and all kinds of weapons are viable. Healing is forgiving. You can actually run through pretty quickly if you know what you're doing and maneuver around enemies and kill them efficiently. It's pretty satisfying. They've updated the game a ton. Melee weapons are great. Most weapons and skills are perfectly viable even on the hardest difficulties. But yes, avoiding getting hit is the key to winning, so you need to either learn how to dodge or parry if you want to ever win on higher difficulties. I still haven't gotten past 3BC, so I haven't even experienced a certain mechanic that adds to the difficulty. I don't even think the difficulty I'm on right now is that bad, I'm just not getting it done. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

Topic | A Total War Saga: Troy free on Epic for 24 hours. Series question |
GeneralKenobi85 08/13/20 11:24:09 AM #12 | I'd say it's heavily dependent on what interests you the most. If the historical aspect is a major part of the appeal to you, then obviously you should probably not go with the Warhammer games. Warhammer's main strength is in its variety. One campaign will be totally different from another, as opposed to other Total War games where factions will usually have similar units and mechanics. Shogun 2 is the best one to start with I believe, since it really bridges the gap between old Total War games and new. The new ones are very good, especially Warhammer 2, but even that is missing a lot that I liked about the older games. And of course games like Medieval 2 and Rome 1 were fantastic, but they might come off as really dated for the average player. Plus, Shogun 2 is relatively simple to grasp. And it still looks really good in my opinion. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

GeneralKenobi85 08/12/20 5:12:41 PM #5 | It's a shame that the coolest biomes in the game are also the most dangerous. I'm talking specifically about Slumbering Sanctuary and Cavern. Been trying to get through 3BC for some time, and Slumbering Sanctuary has always been an issue for me. But it's such a fucking cool concept, along with its great music and visuals. Also the new 8-bit soundtrack is neat. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

GeneralKenobi85 08/08/20 9:54:00 PM #26 | Tenpenny Tower is a nicer home, but Megaton is a more practical base. Megaton being the in the center of the map saves a bit of time when fast traveling, compared to Tenpenny Tower off in the corner of the Wasteland. And being in the center is of course more convenient if you're not using fast travel. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |
Topic | So what should BoTW 2 bring to the table? |
GeneralKenobi85 08/08/20 9:41:29 PM #37 | The most important one in my opinion is to have more dungeons like Hyrule Castle. The Divine Beasts weren't ideal, but I don't think going back to traditional dungeons is the answer either. Hyrule Castle reflected the rest of the game perfectly. Or why not a mix of all three types of dungeons? There doesn't necessarily need to be a single set style. Some more enemy variety would be nice as well. The enemies were very well-designed, but the downside to that is Bokoblins, Moblins, and Lizalfos ended up being everywhere on the map. As for Shrines, I think they could get away with a lot less. Especially if they took a significant amount of time and resources away from other features. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

GeneralKenobi85 08/06/20 7:26:29 PM #167 | Slime Climb is one of the best minigames in the entire game. I think Seesaw is the only obstacle course race that I dislike and that I feel I get really screwed over on sometimes. However, the team games, tail games, and Fall Mountain are all rather frustrating and require a lot of luck. Luck I do not possess apparently because I have yet to win a single episode at over 7 hours of playtime. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> |

I think Sirena Beach is my least favorite level, but I don't remember why I feel that way.Sirena Beach is probably my least favorite as well, but I think I do know why. It's almost entirely the fault of Phantamanta. The very first episode being one of the more challenging ones in the game was pretty jarring. You can turn items on/off meaning they will or will not drop in your game. As long as the total.of possible items is over a certain threshhold (I believe 20), progress isn't limited. You do need to get a Rune to unlock Custom Mode though. It's in the Ramparts. For some reason, one of the updates added that. You'll also want to get all the other Runes you missed as well. So take a different path than you did when you first beat the game. I think it's easily my favorite indie game of all time, although I'm quite bad at it. But I would recommend trying to find as many blueprints as you can to unlock as many items as you can.
