That's so interesting because honestly I view the Dream Nail as a bit of a crutch narratively. It becomes a lot easier to figure out the characters in the game when you can just look directly into their brains and learn their motivations. :-P

I didn't say that. I said it was "discrimination", and I'd be factually correct. You're the one trying to fill in "bigotry" and some kind of moral code to this.

Saying you'd never date a Trumper is discrimination.

Saying you'd never date a man is discrimination.

Saying you'd never date an abuser is discrimination.

You see where I'm coming from here?

It's not like anyone is going to break down your door and force you to date a fat person. This is all limitations you're placing on yourself. It's ultimately all you and what you consider a dealbreaker.

Sharing that information publicly is where things start to get beyond "personal". Because it begs the question "why do you feel comfortable sharing that information in such a public forum?"

The real question this topic is asking isn't "Why won't you date transgendered people?" The real question is "Why do you feel comfortable admitting to CE that you'd never date a trans person?"

It's interesting to read about peoples' opinions on the aesthetic. Quite frankly I think one needs to have an enjoyment of twilight and dark places that have been artificially lit, because that's pretty much this game. Every zone is its own unique type of darkness lit by something, whether it's deliberately placed lighting, phosphorescence, shiny crystals, or a glowing blue lake far above that's raining down.

And then, of course, there are the areas that are truly dark...

You also need a sense of mystery and exploration, with a little bit of love for archaeology. Going along with what has been presented already, what the game flat out tells you doesn't amount to much. There are several things you'll want to note in the details: things like corpses strewn about, statuary and who it represents, the function of an area before it fell to ruin, who is still alive and why.

I have issues with the game. For one I insisted on playing it on Master difficulty, so the Focus mechanic was just... completely deactivated. There's no need to pick up Poppies, or go see the Beggar Queen, and the "Focus Upgrades" tab on the pause menu is just grayed out. Also certain elements of the game actually only work if you have Focus.

The tone is a downer. Everyone's just sick and depressed and saying "fuck" all the time.

And then there's the bugs. I've listened to characters start a conversation, then restart the conversation while the first conversation is still continuing, resulting in a lousy loop. The sound design in general is pretty lousy in terms of direction and volume, which sucks because a lot of the quality of the Thief series was in the sound design.

Also there were times when I saved the game, watched a guard go one way, then reloaded the quicksave and the guard went the opposite way. Quickloads can also reset dialogue you may have already heard from before you quicksaved.

And I get the idea of loot being in drawers making it more real than in past games where it was all just sitting out, but I spend so much time just rummaging through desks and cabinets and it's just not all that fun.

I actually finished that recently. It's funny that there's actually a lot of love for the older games concealed deep in it, but I don't think I'll be going back to it anytime soon.
