Kliff is cute and fills a niche as the more reserved character from Ram Village. I don't remember a whole lot about him. I made him a mage and he was decent. I think he's supposed to be the best starting villager in Echoes? I dunno, I'm not knowledgeable on the Echoes meta. Between Julia's weird availability and being a perfect counter against the final boss, I have no idea what score she deserves. She's a fairly boring character though. I've always thought the Deirdre/Julia stuff was one of the weaker parts of FE4. Milady is great! She has good interactions with Guinevere and Gale (among others). Without a doubt she's one of the best units in FE6 too. Can't go wrong with Milady! I'm surprised her name has never been translated as Melody. Guy is okay because all FE7 characters are good, but he's not one of the more interesting ones tbh. His supports with Karel are good and his recruitment with Matthew is amusing. As far as recruitable enemy myrms go, I think Guy is one of the more fair ones, since he doesn't appear out of nowhere or force you to negate his Astra skill or anything. As a unit he's sword-locked infantry in a game where that's really bad to be. Usable but not great! I almost wonder if even a 4 is too high. Dozla is amusing. He has decent value when he's deployed for free on the Ghost Ship, as he's a character who can actually live through a turn there (particularly with a Pure Water/Barrier put on him). You'll want him to rescue L'Arachel probably. I don't like Kieran's character much at all. I just find him a bit annoying. As a unit he's great in FE9 because cavalry run that show, but not nearly as worthwhile in FE10. Lissa really straddles that line in Awakening between being developed a lot by her supports and just wearing out her welcome because she's not that interesting to begin with. Overall I think I end up liking her, though. She has more than one character trait which helps, and good cast chemistry with Chrom and Frederick. As a unit she's your first healer, which is instant utility, but I think I'd rather have Maribelle as soon as she shows up. Subaki kinda sucks! He never turns out good for me despite his whole gimmick being that he's incredible at everything. Despite that he's your first flier so he has a lot of utility even if he has stat screwed. He's the father to a weird alternate universe version of Cordelia, who Severa can be the mother of -- where else but Fates? I think I like Leonie a lot more than most people. I don't think she's overly obsessed with Jeralt although it is a bit much, but Jeralt's a cool character so overall I'm okay with it. I really like her character design and I think she does well as a commoner trying to prove herself to a bunch of nobles. Also love her character design. She's a very useful character and ended up riding around butchering people with scythes in my Verdant Wind playthrough. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |

Athena CH 7 Boah CH 1 Bord CH 3 Caesar CH 4 Castor CH 1 Cord CH 3 Darros CH 5 Dolph CH 4 Frey CH 3 Macellan CH 4 Matthis CH 1 Midia CH 6 Norne CH 6 Radd CH 4 Rickard CH 6 Roger CH 6 Roshea CH 7 Tomas CH 1 Vyland CH 3 Athena doesn't deserve to be on this list, she's a cool sword lady and has a great line where she's like "We will help you" and Marth says "Great, gather your men and let's go" and she's like "Men? We are a woman. One woman!" Athena kind of rocks. Boah is basically the whole reason things go to shit with Hardin and Nyna, and he has no redeeming factors. Bord and Cord certainly exist. Caesar and Radd are maybe the only examples of real mercenaries FE has. Marth tries to friendship recruit them in FE12 and they're like, "no, pay us." That's all I've got on Caesar and Radd! Castor is one of Caeda's dopey recruits. He's a scam artist and it's slightly funny but not really. Darros is a pirate. His personality? Also pirate. And yet, could be more pirate. 5 pirates out of 10 Frey exists to die ten minutes into FE11 Dolph and Macellan are legitimately hilarious in terms of character design but they have zero character. Matthis is the fucking worst. Poor Midia, she doesn't deserve to be on this list. She almost has real character traits! She rolls up to help you, bringing with her Boah, Tomas, Dolph, and Macellan, so like, no help there. But I guess the thought is appreciated. Norne is cute. Use her instead of Gordin, she needs a friend! Rickard doesn't deserve to be on this list. He has some good interactions with Julian at least. Roger is the funniest FE recruit, Caeda pseudo-flirts with him for all of 10 seconds and he's like "fuck yeah i'll betray my country!" Roshea doesn't deserve to be on this list. He's the only Wolfguard member with A) common sense and B) actual character, so bonus points for him there. Tomas might be the most worthless FE character of all time. I'm not sure he has a single line of dialogue? And he's an infantry archer on top of it all. Vyland sucks, he's so bland he might as well be part of the Sable Knights (eagerly awaiting them for a future filler topic!!!). The most memorable thing about Vyland is his dumb name. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |

I like Linde and wish she had more screentime. Clair I quite like as a character, she's probably one of my favorites from Echoes -- she's haughty but really makes an effort to be better. Finn is a great supporting character for all of Jugdral. Corrin sux. Eldigan is my favorite NPC! He's my favorite implementation of the Camus style characters because he As units IDK the first 3 are all okay I guess. Finn is a brave lance machine which you can't complain too much about. Lucius is a great character. His support with Renault is A+++ and he has other good ones too! As a unit he's a bit hard to use, but works out just fine if you put in the effort. I love the stern instructor type characters and that's Tanith! I really like her character design too. She's hilarious in FE9 because of her ability to summon mooks, but sadly she's p bad in FE10. Reyson is one of the better Tellius characters. Really like the contrast between his personality and his appearance/how herons typically are. Dude broke his hand punching someone and was all "no regrets" about it. Also, he's a dancer and a very good one at that. Libra's okay. I'm not a terribly large fan of the guy but there's nothing wrong with him, he just lacks the depth that someone like Lucius has. Libra feels 100% character design to me without the writing to back it up. As a unit he's a disappointing warrior and an adequate healer, which is essentially War Priests in a nutshell. Shamir is super cool! She doesn't look like an FE character, her clothes especially. It is criminal that she can't S support Catherine. As a unit I was slightly disappointed every time I tried to field her in an open slot, but I never put in real effort to train her specifically. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |

As a character he's just the game's obligatory merc, but he has some good interactions with Marisa and Innes. Ike is a Good Boy. As an FE main character who isn't royalty, is anti-racist, and is gay, he is very relatable. There used to be memes about Ike soloing FE9 which I'm sure is possible but I think we've come around to realize he's not, like, broken. Definitely a strong unit in both games (especially FE10) though. Olivia is the archetypal Awakening character in that her whole personality is a gimmick and that gimmick is bad. The most interesting things about her are her more interesting son and granddaughter. As a unit, she is a dancer. That's all I have for Olivia! Camilla sucks. She's almost interesting but then it's Fates so she isn't. Please give her real armor. Nothing bad about her as a unit though! Manuela is decent comedy relief. It's stupid that she's not a gay option for F!Byleth despite spending the entire game flirting with her. I've never used Manuela except for her paralogue so I have no idea if she's any good. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |

He can really only do one thing (use the Hero Axe) but thankfully it's the exact thing you want him to do all the time. I like Lilina as a character, she's kind of just the "don't treat me like a kid" cliche but it's not a joke for once. She's the heir to Ostia and is ready to take on some of that burden and everyone is still coddling her. As a unit she isn't great, but tbh there's a lot of value in FE6 in someone who hits Res really really fucking hard, even if only once. She's definitely usable. Nephenee's fine. I feel like her personality changed a lot from FE9 -> FE10 but I could just be misremembering FE9. She's fun for the same reason swordmasters are but def outclassed by the paladins. She gets her time to shine in Part 2 of FE10 and that's about it! Lon'qu is pretty forgettable. As a sword-locked infantry in a game where all three lords use swords I never really found a place for him. I guess you can reclass him if you want but he's not a super interesting character anyway so onto the bench he goes! Lorenz is the worst GD during White Clouds without question, but he has Actual Character Development and comes back after the timeskip as a changed man. As a unit he competes with Lysithea in a contest that Lysithea is absolutely going to win every time but that doesn't make him bad. He's solid, Lysithea's just really good. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |

It's never like... built on, though. Allen and Lance are SUPER generic. Kent and Sain are pretty clearly the best of this group, and even then Kent's one of those "I exist to serve you, m'liege" types. Franz and Forde are alright, Franz has some cute interactions with Amelia and Forde with Eirika. lol get wrecked kyle not even included Movement good, FE12 availability bad, multiple weapon types good, and FE7 particularly busted. haha handaxe goes whooosh. i think that's about all i got. --- Congrats to BKSheikah, who knows more about years than anyone else. |
