Inviso, the one big problem with your statement is that then there will be no incentive for anybody to be a cop. If you are putting your life at risk and have no mechanism to protect yourself from violent criminals, who in their right mind would actually take the job?

The incentive is payment, just like it is for jobs more dangerous than police officer (like logger or taxi driver).

I haven't played any Advance Wars, I thought Dual Strike was supposed to be the best one and a bunch of people here are vouching for it but I may well end up getting both at some point.

Both are great, Days of Ruin is better though.

AW2 for the GBA is also very, very good.

I haven't played all of those but I'll vouch for Dual Strike and Shadow Dragon (and Apollo Justice to a lesser extent).

Also Dark Dawn isn't great.

Silque is a fairly uninteresting character but that's pretty standard for early game healers. She's fine. Her spell list has Warp, Seraphim, Invoke, and Expel -- what more can you ask for?

Raven has slightly interesting backstory with Hector/Ostia but he's never been a favorite of mine. He gets points for hanging out with Lucius though. As far as sword-locked infantry go, Raven's your dude, not least of all because he has hard mode bonuses and gets axes on promotion.

Tana is a solid flier. I've never found her particularly hard to train up despite Vanessa having an advantage in availability, though I will say that Cormag is better than both. As a character she's definitely the weak link in the Renais/Frelia royal foursome, but still likeable and has decent supports with the others.

Titania is a great character. She's the standard advisor type character, but also effectively the team's mom and it works. I like watching her bounce off of Soren when they both give advice to Ike. In FE9 she's also a fuckin war goddess. I didn't use her in FE10 but I imagine she's worse there because there's nowhere to go but down!

I have to give Heather an inflated score because she's unapologetically gay, but I really wish FE10 had real supports so we could learn more about her. As is she doesn't have a lot of character, but I like what's there. She's your thief for part 2 and does that job adequately but she's absolutely benched by the time you get her back in part 4. I don't remember her having any real combat utility the way someone like Sothe in part 1 does.

Chrom is a bit of a boring main character, essentially existing to be the straight man to all the wacky idiots surrounding him, but he's not really even a great straight man? He gets some solid lines though and being the main character grants him a lot more character development than others, so he's not bad. He's more just... wasted potential, I guess. As a unit he's fine. He's sword infantry and that's a shame but statwise he holds up. He's one of the few gen 1 characters that can hang with the kids later in the game, at least in my experience.

Jake's okay. Is he a multiversal demigod like Anna? Is he just her completely normal boyfriend? We may never know. In FE11 he's a Ballistician which is the most fun class in that, and possibly any, FE. I'm giving him points for the sheer joy of it, I don't know or care if he's actually good or not.

Lachesis is one of my favorite characters from Genealogy. She's kind of a tragic figure but also has some fairly amusing lines, so she strikes a weird balance. But it works.

Sophia is completely worthless as a unit. I used her and let me say that she didn't even end up particularly special despite the insane amount of grinding she required. As a character she's fine, she's the demure dragon type that contrasts with the more playful Fa, but she never gets enough spotlight to really become anything special.

Renault is lowkey the best character in FE7, with some very interesting connections to the plot and to the other characters, though it requires digging to find. As a unit there's inherent value in a prepromote with staff ranks, but there's no real reason to field Renault instead of Pent, and that's ignoring that Renault's availability is atrocious and that you get Athos minutes later.

I don't have much to say about Cherche! Her outfit design is fuckin' dumb for a soldier but I'd like it a lot if she was like an NPC noble or something where it would make sense. She's less goofy than most Awakening characters but it doesn't really work out in her favor, especially because she still has a dumb gimmick (Minerva) on top of it.

Dimitri has some of the better character development in the FE series. You can see hints of his facade starting to crack during part 1 and then it all breaks over the timeskip, and it takes an almost agonizingly long time for him to rebuild himself as a person during part 2. But ultimately the AM story is all about Dimitri, so I like that they gave it a slow burn. He's a shit-wrecker as a unit but his unique classes are boring. Also, reclassing him can be a little difficult because he's unteachable for a long time in part 2. Ultimately he's still quite good but when I compare him to someone like Claude... eh.
