For those who are curious, from what I understand laser hair removal works by basically dissolving the hair follicles in your skin. Much like how waxing tries to rip out hair by the root, laser hair removal tends to have a longer lasting effect for this reason.
While it can permanently thin out growth to a degree, permanent full removal is pretty much a pipe dream atm, and you have to continue the treatments basically forever AND pair it with shaving anyway. Lame.

Definitely look up what each stat does and probably also how imbuing works... and poise... and humanity... and maybe also what messing with the bonfires does. Do it even if you're doing a sort of blind run. It's really useful to know. Beyond that, you may not have realized it but your weight value affects your ability to roll/dodge. If your roll seems particularly garbage, it may be due to your weight %.

Accept that you're going to have to practice quite a bit at the game in order to truly get it down. Also you should know that while most parts of DS depend on you developing your skill level/knowledge of the game, there ARE parts which are really not a matter of skill, such as the Bed of Chaos boss fight. In those instances, just keep trying (yeah, it sucks) but parts like that are not numerous so you don't have to sweat it much.

If you haven't yet, I do recommend outright practicing doing backstabs/ripostes.

There are lots of little missable things in the game if you don't do things just right, but the game can get away with that because it's meant to be played over and over again. However, if you don't want to miss a lot, I would consider consulting a guide. If you want your first run to be blind, that's fine, but if you're interested in seeing everything the game has, consider consulting a guide on NG+ at least; that will help you with the obscure character quest/item requirements.

Spears pair well with shields, but a lot of people find fighting with shields boring. Experiment with different weapons/styles to see which ones you like. Most are viable in some way, either against AI or players.
Halberd/BK Halberd, Claymore/Zweihander, Estoc, Longsword/Broadsword/Silver Knight Straight Sword, Shotel, Pickax, Large Club... these are all great weapons and some of them can be acquired very easily.
As for shields, you can get a lot of mileage out of circumstantial shields such as Spider/Grass Crest/Sanctus/Bloodshield, and for blocking, there's Heater/Crest/Havel's which are all popular, but you can run most shields with success.

Alluring Skull can be very useful for manipulating AI. You can use it to get stupid enemies to run into fires, for example. Bows in general should also not be overlooked- they can be really good in certain areas.

Never forget to check for traps. Make sure the chests you open look right before you open them, for example. If they don't, you may want to chuck a Lloyd's Talisman at them. Some traps can and will kill enemies if you're careful.

Um, cultural appropriation is a fairly complicated topic, as is what is positive/neutral/negative use of such, but tbh I do not think that it is nearly a big deal as a lot of people make out and, frankly, it's not really feasible for people to stop cultural appropriation in a global economy, especially not when the internet exists. The response to this seems to be something like... it's a problem with multiple causes, so instead of taking on those causes at the same time (housing AND the drug epidemic AND debt AND mental health care) it's easier to just do nothing. If you're going to be that restrictive in your definitions of what a remake is, then no Zelda game has ever really been remade. Because there'll always be a qualification of why it "doesn't count".

1. Does it roughly have the same story/sequence of events/etc?
2. Does it actually improve/add anything that significantly alters the gameplay experience?

If the answer to question 1 is no, then it is not a remake, particularly because the content also tends to be different/reshuffled with different mechanics on top of a completely different story. It is a different game (ALBW, BS Zelda).

If the answer to question 2 is no, then it's a port.

For comparison's sake:
FFIV PS1 is a port.
FFIV: DS is a remake.
FFIV: After Years is a different game.
FFIV Advance/PSP's status as either a significantly enhanced port or a remake is arguable, but the amount of content added would I think constitute it being considered a remake.

By the same argument:
ALttP on Wii, Wii U, Switch, N3DS, and the SNES Classic? Those are all ports.
BS games using ALttP's assets are different games entirely.
ALBW is a different game entirely.

The only release that comes even close to constituting a remake is:

ALttP is very concisely designed compared to Zelda games both before and after it, which is part of the reason why it has held up so well to this day; it isn't interested in wasting your fucking time like, say, Breath of the Wild is. But the end result is that it feels like you're exploring a neighborhood, not a nation.
