Only Adventure level 9 right now, and quite loving how this game looks and feels. Granted, I'm no stranger to gacha games, so all these things to level and ascend are no mystery to me, I know the crawl this game will inevitably demand, but this game being 3D with the emphasis it places on exploration makes me feel like I can take a more laid back approach. Other gachas I've played, you hit a content wall, and that's about it, but this game? Half the time I'm doing some quest to advance a bit, the other half I'm doing bs parkour glider nonsense just because I can. I'm sure navigating the environment will get a little old, but it's a huge advantage this game currently has over any other entry in the genre I've played.

I've always had a soft spot for Voyager due to it being the first Trek I seriously got into, as it was the one that was airing weekly on TV at the time. Even after discovering other Trek shows, I still appreciated it for having the Doctor/Seven of Nine. It might be a bit of a dumber Star Trek, but it was still a cut above a lot of other shows of the era. Definitely a cut above the current iterations of Trek too. It gets judged pretty harshly for a number of mistakes it made over its run (threshold, neutering the borg, neelix), but it was still starfleet and it served as a more accessible vehicle for nonfans to jump onboard. I think it has aged surprisingly well, but it is a tough sell these days as there are a great many other scifi shows to recommend.

I like how people are basically forcing Anagram to watch lower decks now.

Haven't seen the most latest one, but I've got to concede that the series has had a few fun moments regardless of its overall quality. Frankly, I've really loved some of the scifi plots that have been in the background, a lot of it has been things TNG couldn't hope to have done justice due to budget/physical constraints in meat space.

I liked watching some Kizuma AI back in the day. It is also dang cool that tech's gotten to the point where this kind of stuff is within reach of anyone willing to put in the effort to do so. Still...I can't see myself getting into vtubers much. The meme clips are cool, but I generally prefer skillful or informative gameplay and that's just not the vibe I get from this sphere of entertainment.

They're all pretty adorable though, I can certainly see why there's been such a rise in awareness of them. It smacks of being a fad to me, but I'm ok with it sticking around as a concept.

How is Disgaea 5? Anything notable about it?
It continues to evolve the various systems at your disposal and plays pretty nicely mechanically. I've not gotten deep into the postgame with it, but it was hailed as having the best gameplay until Disgaea 1 got remade recently which apparently usurped that from D5.

The story is nothing amazing, playing out like a sub-par anime, but aside from that it is a solid disgaea experience.

Evil is a bit too black and white of a term for what this and most other companies who routinely get sponsored are. Certainly no paragon of virtue, they're mostly just trying to maximize their audience. Their service seems like a reasonable fit for some folks, not so much for others.

As far as ethics are concerned, I'd be a bit wary, but not too much more than the average modern internet experience justifies.

Yeah, since TNG/DS9/VOY were my first exposures to Star Trek, it was quite interesting seeing Enterprise expand on Andorians as well as getting Jeffery Combs to play Shran, one of the good parts of Enterprise.

Also, I just watched the first episode of Lower Decks as this topic reminded me it existed. I...have never felt so frustrated about a show. It has the look and feel of a star trek show. It nails the aesthetic and the sounds and various tropes. Even the damn fonts in the intro are lovingly appropriate. Then characters start speaking and I start pondering my life choices. It's like the show wants to be zany like Rick and Morty but without the charm that series has, particularly since Lower Decks has to remain grounded in its Star Trek roots and can't just portal to any wacky universe it wants. The closest I got to a laugh was the MC chick telling the sidekick dude 'You'll be fine, doc will wave a light over it'.

In light of that....Medical Equipment in Star Trek

Fun times. Apparently there are a number of level 3 evacuation orders being given to some small towns like, 20 miles away from me. Esuriat posted...
I disagree, but I feel like a lot of people approach it with the mentality that they're broken permanently and need to forever track calories.

From 2014 to 2015 I lost just over 100 pounds and I kicked it off with tracking calories with the pointed effort of fully understanding portion sizing and knocking myself out of habit. I needed to recognize what 1800-2000kcal actually felt like. I found that this naturally steered me toward "making the most of" what I did eat so sweets and excess carbs took the biggest hit. After a couple of months I relaxed the tracking and found that eating proper amounts was far more intuitive and it continued to get better from there. I would do a week on again with calorie counting from time to time to keep myself "calibrated" but I've now maintained the weight loss for years with no extra effort.
I can resonate with this some. I've been doing a keto diet and have made it a point to track my fat/carb/protein intake. After some months of recording data I feel that I have a firm grasp of what foods give me x macros. I'll likely need to calibrate from time to time like you, but it has definitely done wonders for my notion of what a portion should feel like.

Yes and no. There is the Feng Huang which is the queen of the birds and is associated with the empress and tends to end up with thematic connections to the western phoenix regardless of merit.

Then there is The Vermilion Bird or Zhu Que which represents fire/south/summer and is an immortal bird covered in flames. This, however, is not a phoenix.

Heavily system dependent and I'd probably do some basic research on class expectations. But in a generic vacuum, it'd generally be mage. There's a ton of depth that systems can give to fighters and rogues, but magic begs to have it by default. It also plays nicely into weak-to-strong arcs as a low level wimpy mage if left unmolested will transform into a reality shaping force that even the gods tread lightly around. Or, if the system isn't that robust, will at least let you zap things with impunity.
