Downsides are you work late into the night. You never know when someone's going to try to rob you or try to pay you with counterfeit money. You can work earlier shifts, but i wouldn't recommend opening. If you can swing a moderately busy lunch shift by yourself or with just one other driver, you can make some pretty good money. It really depends on the store though. Managers in my experience seem to prefer to overstaff and cut back as business slows. You really want just enough drivers so you don't get backed up (customers get pissed and start stiffing you, even if its not your fault) and you get to take doubles every time. --- You load sixteen tons, what do you get? | PMarth2002 01/08/21 2:57:13 PM #7 | I've been delivering pizza on and off since 2006 (about 5-6 years total, I took a few years off to go back to college, had some periods off unemployment and done other jobs). pojr posted... From what I've heard, it's a really good job. Is that true? I heard that you make decent pay, but you also make tip, so it ends up paying pretty decently. But I might have that backwards. It might be like Uber or something where you don't make very much at all, and you're desperate for the tips. Depends on how busy your store is, how many drivers are working with you, and how well people tip. Most likely, you'll be making less than minimum wage when you're on a delivery, and minimum wage when your in the store. The tips will generally make up at least half of your income, and probably more. Stay away from stores in low income areas, you can get mugged. Usually they'll have places they don't deliver to, but its still a risk. For those who no longer are a delivery driver, why did you stop? Covid. i was working for pizza hut up until last march. Also, for those who are a delivery driver or used to be, were you ever required to do other tasks? Like cleaning, making pizza or anything outside of the scope of delivering pizza? Depends on your manager. Typically; stuff like operating the wing frier (at pizza hut), cutting pizzas as they come out, answering phones, doing dishes, cleaning the store, it varies by store and by chain somewhat, but there's usually some tasks that you have to do, unless its super busy. Usually the managers or a cook are the ones actually making pizzas. I'd recommend being a closer if you can swing late hours because you get more consistent hours that way. Mon-Tues: 2 12 hour shifts Wed-Thurs: Off Fri-Sunday: 3 12 hour shifts Mon-Tues: Off Weds-Thurs: 2 12 hour shifts Fri-Sun: Off repeat. Lunches were half-hour unpaid, 3 paid breaks. Don't personally know anyone who's died from covid, and i'm very introverted, so not going out isn't exactly stressful for me. Mostly, they just scratch the "sense of progression" itch that RPG's cater to in the most direct way possible. There's virtually no sense of genuine accomplishment because you really aren't doing anything yourself, but the steady feeling of progressing is enough to keep them engaging for some people. Seconded. They're not really fun in the same way an actual game is, but they do scratch an itch and they're a decent time waster. --- You load sixteen tons, what do you get?
