| MZero 01/04/21 9:50:49 PM #55 | NBA 2K is the biggest offender. I have put hundreds of hours into it because I love basketball and there aren't any better alternatives but those games are bad. Throw Madden in there too for similar reasons. I don't really play either very much anymore though Uncharted. I bought the remastered triology and platted all of them but wouldn't consider myself a fan. More like I already bought them so might as well finish Mega Man. Same idea, bought the legacy collection and played the first three. Not a big fan The rest would probably be multiplayer games I played with friends but don't really like much. Mortal Kombat and Call of Duty come to mind --- MZero, to the extreme I never saw azuarc coming, but he won the Guru! |

There is a reason it never actually wins anything in pro sports. Epstein won two World Series with the Red Sox and one with the Cubs using analytics. Also, whether or not it's successful is irrelevant to what led the NBA to the threes and layups playstyle. First licensed sports game, and thus the first game that allowed people to cheer for teams outside their local area. Back in 1993, you had the local team (so you were at the mercy of whatever market you were in) or the random nationally televised games. That's it. NBA Jam changed all that, and it's largely why Madden partnered with the NFL soon after. None of this has anything to do with revolutionizing video games. Also people definitely cheered for non-local teams before 1993, and basketball became 3s/layups because of analytics, not NBA Jam. --- MZero, to the extreme I never saw azuarc coming, but he won the Guru! |
