I've seen the "it goes against human nature" argument against communism (to which I assume you are referring) hundreds of times, and it never gets any less stupid. capitalism encourages people to be greedy, to exploit others. it stands to reason that more people will be greedy and exploitative than they would otherwise. it's important to remove that incentive during the transition between capitalism and communism. part of this is making sure that everyone has their basic needs met: if it's not necessary to compete against others for survival, those attitudes fall away pretty quickly

Hollow Knight - 9.5/10

The first game I've played in several years, Hollow Knight feels like a spiritual successor to the early Paper Mario games. The world of Hallownest is large and beautiful and a pleasure to explore. The Charm system -- Hollow Knight's answer to the Badge system of "Thousand-Year Door" -- allow for a surprising amount of customization.

As a platformer, Hollow Knight strikes a perfect balance between frustrating and engaging, due in no small part to the subdued aesthetic beauty of the world. The combat is fast-paced, brutal, and exhilirating, and each boss fight presents a unique challenge and reward for completion (my personal favourite, for both the fight itself and the reward afterwards, being the Mantis Lords).

The story deals with heavily with themes of guilt, loss, history, and responsibility, and it is through these themes that I find my qualm with the morals: early on, the player receives a journal from a character called "The Hunter", which contains encyclopedia-like entries on the various beasts you encounter across Hallownest, filling in as you "defeat" more of them. It quickly becomes clear from reading these entries that the Hunter is, as the name suggests, some sort of apex predator who delights in killing these beasts indiscriminately. The entries draw a comparison between the Hunter's words and the Player's behavior -- in order to receive the entries in the first place, you must behave in a manner similar to the Hunter. It feels like a critique of the player, without offering any alternative for reaching full completion.

Forcing players to consider their actions in a broader context is by no means a bad thing, but a way of completing the journal without behaving like a blood-crazed killer would have been nice.

This is, overall, a fairly minor qualm with a game that does many things extremely well: even the most frustrating platforming section was still a tremendously enjoyable experience, and I anxiously await the sequel.

What's to stop millions of Americans from not working knowing that they will have healthcare, housing and schooling given to them for free. Many Americans are content not working knowing that they will receive welfare and unemployment so why wouldn't even more be content not working since all those things you listed will be given to them for free?

people wanting to live on the social safety net is an indication not that said net is too generous, but that working is too unpleasant.

the answer is to improve the work experience, whatever that means. some ideas off the top of my head: increase pay, reduce hours, give people more holidays, give them more say in the tasks they carry out, make the labour itself more meaningful and more fulfilling, allow longer paid breaks during the work day, allot paid time specifically for the purpose of exercising, organize between different workplaces and different fields so that people can change jobs and prevent it from getting tedious.

now it's your turn to answer my question: why are you more concerned about hypothetical welfare queens than you are about the massive, very real amounts of public money and resources that go to lining the pockets of people who already have more money than they know what to do with?

Best I can tell from a quick Google search is that 0.2% in the US are homeless. And my understanding is that there's usually two things that are highly correlated with that (hint: not money). So it seems we're doing not too terrible if it's a basic necessity.

Either way it doesn't change what I was referring to. There seems to be a recent trend of kids coming up who expect many things to just be free such as healthcare, housing, schooling etc. I have seen first hand what entitlement looks like since I work construction and many fuckers refuse to put in half the effort I do yet expect to get paid my wage, and they do.

There absolutely needs to be services out there for individuals truly struggling but for your typical bratty American to just want everything (hyperbole) for free I say "fuck you, work for it".

second, the comparison to "cooks" and "grocery stores" is inaccurate. the apt comparison here would be to the owner of the restaurant, or to the owner of the grocery store. all of whom receive similar criticism -- they make money by owning a building/business rather than by doing anything (there are definitely restaurant owners who do work in addition to owning the business, but it still is not inherent to the position)

Aang literally uses the Avatar State before Book 1 starts.

plus, Aang and Korra's stories are fundamentally different. Aang is a kid and, at the start of the show, he can only Airbend. Korra's older and is already skilled in 3 of the elements by the time her story starts.

How does protesting force someone to be accountable? It most definitely is about appeal, because the whole point is to visibly encourage authority to make changes. How could you claim that protesting is about force? Who is forced when people peaceably assemble?

there are many ways to force accountability as part of a protest. property damage is a common one.

You are conflating action with speech, and determining that they are both protests, which isn't true.

Protest is strictly about discourse and is a form of verbal disapproval. You are trying to convince the people you are protesting against, meaning optics are very important.

this is just blatantly false. you clearly do not know what a protest is; I suggest learning what they are before continuing this conversation. a few good examples to read up on off the top of my head:
-black lives matter
-occupy wall street
-stonewall riots
-hong kong protests
-the civil rights movement

look specifically for tactics that they used as part of their protests. blocking traffic is a common one. as I mentioned up there ^, property damage is another.
