I remember renting Dead Rising for my 360 back in the day. Played it for like ten minutes, hated it, and returned it. Only mildly related, but I also rented a game called "Ninety-Nine Nights" or something and hated it too. It was slim pickings in the early days of the 360.

Roughly twelve years later, I got a digital copy of DR1 in a bundle for literally a dollar. Figured, "Eh, may as well give it another chance," and I actually ended up loving it. I didn't get all the trophies because one of them requires you to literally drive back in forth in the tunnels for hours, but I got a lot of them. I actually ended up getting DR2 in a sale not long after that, but I haven't gotten around to playing it.

I don't think there should be this big "once size fits all" leap. There are many states with a much lower cost of living. Someone making $15/hr minimum wage in Alabama when they were used to $7-$8 will be living on the hog compared to someone in a much more expensive state making $15/hr.
So, I see nonsense like this and it makes me laugh. Absolutely makes me laugh my fucking ass off.

Your little theory here assumes that people making $7-8/hr are surviving on that. They're not! They're dependent on welfare just to scrape by! They're working multiple jobs that are destroying their mental and physical health. They wouldn't be "living on the hog" at $15/hr; they'd finally be a pretty bare bones level of comfortable. Maybe you feel differently, but I don't think an entire class of people should be stuck in a constant soul-destroying struggle just to survive.

I'm aware that she cries almost weekly over some of the things I'm talking about here, yes.

It's a complicated topic. If you got the idea that I think caring about animals is always stupid then you weren't really reading. My actual point is, "sometimes people go too far, and put their own needs above animals".

Bro you just quoted me talking about a scenario where the pet is almost certainly going to die and treatment is excessively expensive. This is a very far cry from a comparing life saving care to senseless pain.

Also it's weird that you would quote my first post directly but miss this part: "Alright, so i get if this is your boy and he's been in your family for 10 years and you're attached and there's a good chance that with some money and care you'll save his life"
And, yet again, it's really bizarre you'd make this topic to moan about animal lovers given you "know" all this lol

The blindness I see, of so many (Bernie included), to the privileges Bernie represents. I dont know many poor, or working class, or female, or struggling-to-be-taken-seriously folk who would show up at the inauguration of our 46th president dressed like Bernie.
She's not wrong about this. Y'all have to get this "if you say privilege, you mean evil" narrative out of your head.

It's a fact: there would have been an absolute uproar from certain crowds if someone like AOC showed up in this outfit. Acknowledging privilege isn't the end of the world.

We all have privileges that give us an advantage in certain situations. I'm white. If I go in a store, I don't have to worry about being racially profiled and followed by security. That's white privilege.

There's male privilege. There's skinny privilege. There's "no accent" privilege. It's not a word that means "everything is super easy for you." It's "this isn't instantly harder because you don't have this thing."

What Bernie wore was perfectly sensible for the weather. A good, thick winter jacket and mittens. I don't think it even looks that outrageous and neither did most people. God forbid if a woman wore it though. People would call her sloppy, manly, and disrespectful. It's actually completely legal in my state to require women (but not men) to wear an absurd amount of makeup to work.

Equally, it breaks her heart when a dog needs to die but the owners insist on putting it through extensive chemo because they just can't bear to lose it.
Pretty bizarre that you would make your original rant then.

See post #38. Wanting the meat/dairy industries to be better and thinking sometimes people seek out medical treatment for pets for selfish reasons are not mutually exclusive ideas.

If you're still curious, I'm not vegan. And if you want to point out that animals don't consent to being eaten, of course. But I don't think eating animals is inherently the same as putting them through senseless pain.
And again, you are needlessly conflating the issues the ideas of life saving care and "senseless" pain. Maybe you have it in your mind that most pet owners are doping up their animals explicitly to prolong a life just so the human isn't sad and that just isn't how it works. I'm sure there are a few people, but most pet owners DO consider the pet's wellbeing and happiness. They DO consider whether or not the pet needs this help to otherwise live a happy life.

And for the record, I'm not vegan either. I'm not even vegetarian. Plant-based diets inflict their own unique damage on people (particularly workers harvesting plants) and the planet. There's very much no ethical consumption under capitalism, so I try not to worry about excessively.

Don't have to. The dairy and meat industries are excessively cruel and should be improved. People also should consider if they really have their pets best interests in mind when they seek out treatment, and not just their own.
You kinda do if you want a leg to stand on with regard to your argument of consent.

You seem to have this binary view on pet care. You are aware that lots of people make the extremely difficult decision to end their pet's suffering even if they could afford further treatment, right?

Gonna be super basic here:

1) Aerith's Theme - FFVII
2) Tifa's Theme - FFVII

Both fantastic pieces of music that truly represent their characters.

My third nomination might technically be cheating. The rules seem to be that nominations have to be from the FF series, not exclusively the games, so:

3) Cloud Smiles - FFVII: Advent Children

Cloud doesn't have a proper theme that's entirely his own in the game (a lot of sources consider the main theme to be his), so I chose this. My personal nitpick that I can fly into an hour long rant about is basically "Cloud has a damn good reason to be depressed and mopey after the game because the poor guy is extremely traumatized." This theme is him starting to heal and it personally means a lot to me.

https://youtu.be/nS32hGl-bBU

I also still tear up at this scene in the movie. I can usually hold it in until he looks past the crowd and sees Aerith. There's a lot wrong with Advent Children, but I have always liked how it handled this aspect of his character.

I got a PS3 to play KH3. That's how long I waited/roughly when I expected it would come out. I was certain it would follow the pattern of "spinoff game then main game" and come out maybe around the time I graduated high school.

I was YEARS past college graduation when it finally came out. I fell off after 2 because I figured "okay, I'll play all these spinoffs when they formally announce KH3" which proceeded to not happen until 2013 and I didn't get around to playing those games until 2018 because it took that long to get a concrete release date.

though, I guess I did get my "spinoff game that sets up the main entry" in Dream Drop Distance. It felt the most like 1 and 2 to me and I really enjoyed it even though the story goes completely off the rails near the end.

Then she got her panties in a twist over a group chat name having the word "lesbian" in it and, not long after that, went on a long, screaming TERF rant into the face of one of my closest friends.

You pay the interest every month on your student loans along with your payment, and currently student loans aren't accuring interest. He's not getting any taxes reduced by paying off his loans. In fact there's a solid chance his credit score is going to decrease from paying them off. On top of the extra taxes he'll pay for only holding the stocks for short term.

I imagine a lot of student loans have a large accrued interest already that doesn't get knocked out with each monthly payment. The freeze on interest actively accruing didn't eliminate already accrued interest.
