Okay, let's get back to Cold Steel IV Act 2!

Trekking through Dreknor Fortress is pretty fun. I like having to fight through waves of 4th Division soldiers and archaisms, followed by the Divine Knight battle against Alan. The Zauber Soldats continue to be more bark than bite! My wife is watching me play the game and is very confused by how the battle system works with all the quartz and stuff, and I guess jumping in on the middle of the ninth game in the series would be a little confusing! I like the throwaway line after the battle where Agate tells Rean that Alan's still alive, so there's hope for him yet, and Jusis wonders in his mind if there's still hope for Rufus as well.

The fight with Craig and Neithardt delivers, as well as the scenes before and after. I also manage to survive with all four party members alive to get the extra AP. I took out Craig first, but Neithardt was the tougher to take down because he was super fast and could heal himself. It's also a lot more satisfying for the fight to end with us unquestionably the victors rather than the way a lot of storyline fights do, where they were holding back or they wipe us out in the cutscene, no matter how badly we beat them down during the actual fight. It feels like the last game in each arc lets you do that more.

Altina continues to kill it with her one-liners. "The lovey-dovey energy filling this room will soon reach dangerous levels. Further exposure is bound to induce vomiting."

And thus the chapter ends with another S rank! Aw yeah.

Yeah, it's supposed to be the player.

And it does end on an incomplete note that doesn't feel totally satisfying, but I guess it's meant to be a set up for the third game (which nearly didn't get made).

Yeah, I think I kinda agree with you there. They tried too hard to make Hojo look blatantly evil instead of just having him look like an actual person.

Yeah, I get that because I felt compelled to retrace every area every time the scene changed to get all the dialogue I could, and it just became more of an exercise every time a new area opened up! Don't get me wrong. It was worth it because, as you said, the NPC storylines they were able to develop by staying in the same location the entire game were really good, but it was a lot of effort to keep up with it!

They left a lot of questions dangling (I feel like the biggest unanswered question at this point is "Who killed Guy?"), so it doesn't feel like that's where the game should've stopped. I did really grow to like Lloyd by the end of it though. Randy and Tio were great, too. Elie felt like the odd one out, but it's not like she was bad. She just seemed kinda unimportant most of the time. She was the least useful party member for me, too. I always switched her out whenever a temporary party member joined!

I find a deeper appreciation for a different character every time I replay the original game. The cast has always been fantastic. Even someone like Cait Sith has his standout moments.

Trails From Zero beated

I was very confused when the game just...ended. I thought we were setting up something when Dieter Crois was elected as the new mayor and we were called to go meet him! I'm a little disappointed, not gonna lie. Still, it was a pretty good game. The SSS is a solid group, although the Renne storyline is the highlight overall.

Whew, I think I'm getting close to the end of this dungeon.

But knowing what I do of Trails games (especially the first game in the duology), I imagine there's still a ways to go after this! I feel like this game ends with the reveal that Dieter and Mariabell are the real big bads.

And yeah, those tense phone calls that completely change everything have been some of the best scenes in Zero, and the finale has had several of them!

Make fun of the guy all you want, but he's not wrong. No one looks at Street Fighter for years on end and hopes Link or Kratos or Master Chief or whoever else gets in somehow. Even if that happened, most people wouldn't care. And I love me some Street Fighter. 5 completely murdered all of the good will that series once had.

Because that's not the type of series Street Fighter is. Nobody wished for it in Smash until Snake showed up.

That's why the game that's near-guaranteed to matter for both teams makes the most sense.

The game could theoretically not matter for Green Bay if they win tonight and Seattle loses to the 49ers which isn't likely but the Seahawks are weird

either way you've got a shot at having a week 17 Sunday night game with no real stakes attached to it

the only game guaranteed to have stakes attached to it is Eagles/Washington

The Office complete! Good show, I'm glad we were able to fit it all in. Last episode was a nice sendoff, and the Michael Scott cameo was really well done.

And now for the customary inequality:

Jim > Dwight > Michael > Kevin > Erin > Stanley > Pam > Creed > Darryl > Andy > Toby > Gabe > Phyllis > Oscar > Robert > Meredith > Pete > Nellie > Angela > Clark > Ryan > Kelly

Something like that.

You do have a shot. Schedule stronger opponents and win. The problem is that it's schedule stronger opponents and lose and not have a chance or not schedule better and not have a chance because others did better in conference.

Oklahoma would probably beat Cincinnati by 50.

literally impossible this year and very unlikely most years because the biggest programs don't want to schedule the best mid-majors because there's nothing to be gained from it

and the schedules are made so far in advance that what you think is a good game when you schedule it now isn't a good game when that team sucks 5+ years from now

and very unlikely this year but the fact that you assume it and the committee probably assumes it too is part of the issue here
