I forget when I came here, like 2013 or 2014. I've been on Gamefaqs off and on(mostly on) since the early 2000s, mostly posting on game social boards and then CE. I came to PotD because I could lurk with a read only account, so when I actually made a real one that could post I just plopped in here because I felt like I knew the place a little.

I remember there being no Zeus, then he just shows up out of nowhere. But my memory isn't the best, but I can't find anybody who can recall him being here for as long as he claims.

I honestly just think the Karen thing is played out. I can actually buy people calling it a slur to some degree, but there is not a ton of history behind it being used in a negative way until fairly recently. Though I have heard people say "black karen" or "male karen" once in a while so it isn't specifically used against white women, though of course the majority of the time it is used, it is.

I'm also over the term "boomer" even though this one is a little different. I just feel like terms get super overused I kinda stop caring.

I like the idea of the subs data is beautiful and cool guides. The idea. But they are popular subs so people post nonfactual memes as guides or data but they get upvoted becauee people see content and upvote it without considering what sub it is on.

Like an example i saw a while back from lifeprotip: LPT: to get the cable guy to finally come over hop in the shower.

It got upvoted because idiots like the joke but they didn't consider what sub it was on. That shit ruins subs. It did get taken down, thankfully. A lot of highly upvoted posts are allowed to stay because of that which is lame, which js why the top posts of all time on a lot of subs are pro Hong Kong or net neutrality even if they don't even fit.

Very true to an extent. There is a sweet spot where a sub thrives but isn't too popular it attracts an influx of low effort content people upvote because they aren't paying attention to what sub something is posted on, on their front page.

The website took Amex. I selected my amex card. The little ? Next to the CCV box said they are 3 digits but that amex had 4.

Chic fil a customer service is always bizarrely over the top in the sense that everyone is extremely nice and kind to a weird degree but its always good. I can genuinely say that Ive never had a bad experience there.

I find this weird because i am sure they aren't making much more than minimun wage.

What will happen is exactly what I knew would happen:

despite the republicans making up a rule last time about no new justices in an election year, despite RBG dying much sooner to election day than Scalia, they are going to ram in a new justice as soon as they can do it. Democrats will complain about how unfair it is republicans make up rules out of nowhere and then don't even follow the rules as soon as they get the first chance not to. Democrats will be seen as losers and whiners to at least asking the other party to be consistent with regards to rules they made up.

SC gets a new Trump justice, democrats look like losers.

The only defense i've seen is that "you just know the democrats would do the same thing" which, the last time they could have, 1988, they did not.

I get people on the regular melting down over being told they need a mask or being asked to actually cover their nose. A guy I work with is retiring an entire year early because he is tired of customers abusing and threatening him when he enforces mask requirements. People melt down on the regular over it. I feel like if grown adults can melt down(or in the case of one person, return with a mask that said "fuck you" while doing face scratch middle fingers after being asked to wear a mask) what the hell is one sign saying something?

Ive had a few people tell me they like the signs, I haven't had any pushback from people but the sign isn't super large or visible.

A coworker of mine donated a letterboard sign last year. At first it read "according to alcohol, chemistry is a solution" which I always thought was dumb and making light of alcohol addictions. So, earlier this year I changed it to "our health over your feelings" because of the fact I saw people with my own eyes not giving a fuck about wearing masks. You couldn't possibly say I was wrong.

For one day, as the assistant manager retired I had up "Good Bye Cindy Stay Retired!"

But when I set it back up I put up a new zinger, which I am proud of

Why? I've had people say straight to my face they don't believe in masks or coronavirus, so not only is this fitting, I feel like the people who are conspiracy nuts may think this sign is yet another piece of evidence in the worldwide rich person cabal or whatever, and that puts a smile on my face.

My map formation was actually a representation of Earth, and I was placed in basically the middle of the United States. So either direction I'd have found it without too much effort. But my worry was, what if I go in either direction and I don't find it? Though I should have realized my map choice would lead me to the ocean eventually, since I didn't pick anything anti ocean.

I think even though I plunked a lot of time into this save, I am going to retry venice, find that dang ocean, and do it better. I am actually fairing kinda well, though, but at the same time not having any sort of naval presence is worrying, in addition to the lost sea trade routes.

I was placed fairly close to the ocean as I discovered. I would have found it in like 5-10 turns. But I do struggle since the map is all greyed out I fear I may be going in the wrong direction or something.

Plus if I had known you couldn't launch boats from rivers I would have tried much harder to find the ocean. The dang river I am next to is connected to the dang ocean.

I don't want to waste too many turns finding the right spot, but sometimes I am not near anything and don't know where a good spot it.

I fucked up this time playing as Venice. You get one city. I should have taken more care of where I put it, but I didn't know where the ocean was and didn't feel like wasting a bunch of turns to find it. So I plop my city down next to a river.

I then realized later on that in civ V you cannot launch boats(the Great Galleass, for example) from a river. Never mind in real life boats get to the ocean by following rivers to it, you just can't.

So, how do you guys do it? I feel like optimizing everything from turn 1 is ideal, so found a city asap, but in this case it backfired heavily. But if I take 5+ turns to find a good spot for a city I feel like I am falling behind everybody else. Maybe in the grand scheme of things optimizing from turn 1 doesn't matter. I don't know.

I shoot for a gallon but that is a lot of water. I could do it if I had my water by my side at all times or drank earlier in the day. Some days I sleep until 11/noon and then I don't even think about my water jug until I go to work.
