| Hexenherz 01/04/20 12:21:49 PM #15 | I guess my question would be... who cares if he did? He didn't enlist, he got a commissioning. There's quite a bit of difference there. Two, it's smart to join the military in America. You get good training, good experience, and in conjunction with a degree it opens up a ton of doors. It might have also possibly paid off some student debt that he had, it's a good way to build professional networks. Three, even if he *did* join for the positive publicity, the guy actually went on deployments downrange in Afghanistan (bear in mind he was a Naval Officer). He received some decent awards for his service, and he got an honorable discharge. This administration has absolutely not earned the benefit of the doubt when it makes these kinds of claims. When youre taking action that could lead to the third American war in the Middle East in 20 years, you need to do better than these kinds of assertions, said a Senate aide in the room. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also said publicly that the Iranians planned to kill hundreds of Americans before Soleimanis killing. Administration representatives didnt provide specifics. Instead, they reiterated that the U.S. seeks to de-escalate tensions with Iran after killing one of its top military officials a major emphasis for Pompeo in his calls to foreign dignitaries Friday. How the Trump administration plans to do that remains unknown, particularly now that the Pentagon confirmed the 82nd Airbornes Immediate Response Force brigade will deploy to Kuwait. Administration officials provided instead a vague expression of wanting to de-escalate but no clarity on what de-escalatory steps look like, according to the Senate aide. To talk about de-escalation now is absurd, in a way, because Iran will react, said Rob Malley, a senior Mideast official in the Obama White House. The de-escalation decision should have been taken before the assassination of Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani was a bad guy, but its not like the [Quds Force] depended on him to operate, said Jarrett Blanc, a former State Department official who worked on Iran policy. The idea that the Quds Force had attacks in the works and now it doesnt because hes dead is obviously false. It's not a military game but it's fun as hell, especially on the harder difficulties when you have to pepper spray and taze everyone instead of just running around shooting people up. It's a classic tactical shooter like the old Rainbow Six games, where you control two teams of two people and can coordinate stuff like room breaches or set up traps to have a team smoke out some people and scare them to the team on the other side. | Hexenherz 01/04/20 12:07:33 AM #26 | Early 90s I played Gabriel Knight, a lot of Disney's Stunt Island, a Barney mod of Wolfenstein 3D, Treasure Mountain, the Putt-Putt games, Monkey Island, and Pharaoh which I guess came out in 1999. Though it took up too much of my hard drive so I never got too far until I got a better computer. Mostly played console games between the beginning of the decade and the end though. edit: and a shit ton of C&C and Red Alert and GTA. I remember when I first watched my brother playing C&C, caught him at the tale end of like the second or third mission, he was just sending engineers up to capture the enemy base. I thought it was some shitty puzzle game xd. | Hexenherz 01/03/20 9:29:03 PM #5 | The first two Soldier of Fortune games are good. You can get them on GOG. They are absurdly gory but still entertaining. Far Cry 2... kind of? You're a mercenary hunting an arms dealer in a war-torn African country. It's a game set in the modern day. Fun but annoying at times (like when your weapons wear down and start jamming all the time >_>). Ghost Recon: Wildlands - Open world, ridiculously good story about tearing down a drug cartel / government in Bolivia. Third person but has first person aiming. ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 - These are military sims. You have to contend with minimal HUD information, radio communication, some basic inventory management, limited ammunition, stuff like bullet drop, etc. Really challenging but fun, and more realistic than most singleplayer FPS games. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 both have fairly well written stories, though their single player campaigns are really short (less than 10 hours each).
