Did anyone else watch Cautious Hero? I can't recall much conversation about it but I don't know I probably didn't pay much attention. In any case I watched episode 1 and it was pretty amusing. I liked the joke that the goddess picks Japanese males to summon as heroes specifically because of the isekai fad in Japanese media way more than it probably deserved.

Also got caught up on My Next Life as a Villainess, which is still pretty good. Yuri harem >>> reverse harem.

I watched a whole three episodes of anime today which is more than I've watched every other day this week :(. You would think the whole quarantine thing would get me to watch more anime but it has not worked out that way...

Got caught up on My Next Life as a Villainess though, which is a surprisingly good and wholesome show.

Kaguya also still good, though I think Episode 5 was probably the weakest of the season so far for me. Whenever the show brings out the cruel side of Kaguya it just makes me not want want to root for her at all, which is generally not what you want in a show like this.

I didn't actually have time to fully listen to all the songs, which seems like not a big deal since this is not an official match. However feel free to consider or not consider this vote as you see fit. (I am familiar enough with them that I am ~75% sure this is how I would vote had I listened to all of them in full)

I mean I'd pretty fiercely argue that Trails has a claim to being a top RPG series!

Personally the series probably has my #1 game slot as well as at least 1-2 others in my top 10, but of course any list like that is going to be wildly dependent on the tastes of the person making the list.

Ulti have you ever actually played Trails in the Sky? It's not without flaws and is definitely targeted at a specific niche, but I'd like to think that people enjoy it for a reason.

The scene of Kloe and Estelle reuniting is low-key one of my favorite moments of the game. Kloe just a fantastic character in general imo.

So the Trails in the Sky game that made it into the contest is a direct sequel (the "SC" stands for Second Chapter) and shouldn't be played in isolation, because it starts right in the middle of things, doesn't really re-introduce characters that I can remember, and it would likely just leave you confused.

If you get that far in the project to begin with, you should probably play the first Trails in the Sky (Subtitled either just "Trails in the Sky" or sometimes "Trails in the Sky FC") available here https://store.steampowered.com/app/251150/The_Legend_of_Heroes_Trails_in_the_Sky/. These were originally intended to be one game anyways but ended up being released separately due to the length.

Anyways good luck with the project. I probably won't follow along closely just because I've only played 10% of the games myself, but it sounds exciting.

I'm kinda with Mac on this one. The way the harem mechanics work in Cold Steel make it so that I don't end up shipping Rean with anyone, which is unfortunate because the game really wants me to do that.

I don't think believing one or the other necessarily has to translate into concrete action. You should always investigate the claims to the extent possible and you should always take steps to separate the accuser from the accused and protect them from retaliation, but beyond that it becomes less clear to me. For example I think one could very justifiably say "I believe Christine Blasey Ford, but because there's a high degree of uncertainty in this belief I'm not going to use it as a strong basis for taking action such as not supporting Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, which has no direct effect on Ford or relation to the sexual assault accusation. However if I were 100% certain in this belief than I would use this to say that Kavanaugh is not fit to be on the Supreme Court."

Other ways to say similar things:

Believing the victim is--to me---primarily about protecting victims and about establishing a deterrent to future abuse by creating a culture where victims are not afraid to voice complaints and such complaints will be seriously investigated. It's not about bringing about justice and enacting retribution every time a complaint is raised.

It seems like most logical reasoning on this front comes from a belief that you either must absolutely believe the victim or you must absolutely believe they are lying. To me this is a false dichotomy and should be treated with a more fuzzy-logic sort of approach where taking different actions requires different levels of certainty in your knowledge.

I don't like Kavanaugh for any number of reasons, but I never thought it was at all unusual to claim to use a calendar as a way to keep track of daily events. Like isn't that what calendars are for? Why else would you even use one?

Super Paper Mario is great. Might even be my second favorite Paper Mario game? TTYD still the strongest though.

I only have experience playing Persona 3 on Hard difficulty, but I will say that the mini-bosses took absolutely forever sometimes. (Which still feel a lot like random battles since they're just big versions of normal enemies) Can't say I felt the same way about the normal encounters, although I had to do significantly more normal encounters for grinding/farming purposes than I ever had to do on lower difficulties.

I agree in a lot of cases.

Though, Persona/SMT to me is actually an exception. I feel like the battles themselves are relatively quick but are still difficult enough to keep me invested--at least in early/mid game anyway. There can be a lot of them though, yeah. Also dying to BS like random enemy who gets 1 turn and casts Hama on the MC kinda sucks.

Oh yeah this reminds me that during Rivalry Rumble I had a perfect battle bracket until the very end where Allen randomly added an oracle component, and I got greedy and lost it all by guessing that Link vs Ganondorf would win with 60-70. Annoyingly the ranges needed to be on multiples of 10; otherwise I would have done 55-65 and probably have won money!

This happened to me also :(

By "gibberish" they mean that the info is encrypted, so someone can't decrypt it without your private key (or solving a math problem known to be computationally hard). The central database in principle has peoples' info, but not in plaintext so they can't actually make use of it.

Does there have to be a central database? Why can't each phone just store the list of messages they've received and sent locally?

I don't think it works that way though if I'm understanding LotM's post correctly.

This can only be used to reconstruct real location information if you also accumulate data from all the phones receiving the messages, which it doesn't seem like this app design does. (And yes, if one person could accumulate all of this data I expect they could perfectly reconstruct real location data despite the fact that the messages are randomly generated, but the app doesn't allow any one party to do that.)

I'm saying that I hope Democratic voters do not want their elected officials to prioritize extorting Republicans for political benefit over making good-faith attempts to pass functional legislation.

It's a response to red sox's phrasing specifically and I don't know how applicable it actually is in most real-life scenarios.

Democrats aren't being blamed for refusing to compromise, they're being blamed for giving Republicans what they want too easily. Republicans don't give up anything the other side wants without getting their pound of flesh first. And that includes things Republicans want themselves - why pass the bill and get what you want when you can extort the Democrats a little and get both what you wanted and the extortion payment?

I would hope because Democratic voters would vote them out of office if they adopted the latter strategy.

Though, I've somehow actually managed to avoid getting spoiled on literally the entire plot this time around, but I definitely do know more than I was worried about getting revealed in a trailer, even as bad as Falcom is about that.
