Damn.

It's amazing what a long run he had. Some many good soundtracks. Ecstasy of the Gold in particular has had incredible staying power. He lived long enough to score classic westerns and the tributes to them which came half a century later.

I'm sad to read of his passing. He's most certainly left his mark though.

The less story you have, the less story you can mess up.

Mario's almost non-existent story already has two marks against it now with the Koopa Kids no longer being Bowser's biological children and with Mario and Peach breaking up as a couple. We now have to worry about shipping in Mario going forward. Is he gonna wind up with Pauline? Rosalina? Will Bowser have a chance with Peach? Who knows?

Before that, there was the issue of whether or not Cranky Kong was the original Donkey Kong. It made sense in the Rare games. In Mario universe crossovers, it doesn't make sense that Mario and Pauline are young while Donkey Kong is geriatric. I guess the issue is resolved though since Rare is no longer a factor and Nintendo's stance has always been that D.K. is Donkey Kong.

I popped in WCW/nWo: Revenge on Nintendo 64 and won the US championship with Lex Luger. He was wearing his American flag trunks.



Fittingly, the final opponent before the champion (Curt Hennig) was the British Bulldog. At first, British Bulldog seemed to overpower Lex Luger. But Luger used strategy and came back fighting. In the end, we saw a British surrender to a Canadian backbreaker on an American holiday.

The championship match itself wasn't nearly as fun or memorable as the fights with British Bulldog and Hollywood Hogan. After I won, I had an instant rematch with Curt Hennig which felt much more organic. The back to back victories solidified Made in the USA Lex Luger as the rightful US Champion.

I would have it be a scene by scene remake of the first episode, but with all of the changes in play. Bart's NES is a Playstation 4. Mr. Smithers is white. Ned is super Christian. Apu doesn't speak because he has no voice actor. Homer is less angry and more stupid.

I'd basically treat it like one of those decades-later photo recreations.

My sister lives in Florida. Florida is considered to be the state which could potentially determine the outcome of this coming election. My sister hates the police, hates Trump, hates racism, and low-key hates America.

But she outright refuses to vote.

She is not alone in this folly either. She and others like her -- not Republicans -- elected Trump. If voting were mandatory, Trump would've lost badly. But he won the apathy vote, the Republican vote, the bigot vote, and the old man yelling at cloud vote. That was enough to get him in office.

Unless Covid-19 kills off the majority of the conservatives who refuse to wear masks, why should this election be any different? It's easier to take a knee at a football game or tell Twitter how much America sucks than it is to take an hour to vote against bigotry and corruption. The people who want bigotry and corruption are more than willing to give an hour of their lives for what they stand for.
