You know, if there had to be some kind of a loophole by which it was okay for white people to use the n-word, I would say you could consider yourself an honorary black person if you caught an unwarranted beating from the police.

Then you'd flash that BBP (Beaten By Police) tattoo on your wrist -- and baton scar on your forehead -- and it'd all be okay. Age of Ultron due to the Widow/Hulk ship and because Ultron is the closest thing the MCU has to the Schwarzenegger version of Mr. Freeze. Trying to give the bad guy a sense of humor was absolutely the wrong thing to do in this type of movie.

I don't know. I'm not an officer in the Vietnamese army or any other.

They might have executed him. They might have let him go and used his confession as propaganda. They might have had him sentenced to prison as a criminal rather than a prisoner of war. I have no way of knowing if the claim had any validity or what would've had happened if McCain had confessed.

He claims they tried to trick him into signing a document saying that he was physically unwell and needed to be released from prison on medical concerns. When he wouldn't take the bait, that's when they went to work on his arms. When they were done, he couldn't raise them past chest height.

If somebody murders civilians, then fuck them. But if he was innocent of the accusation, I'm not going to vilify someone who endured as much as he did because of a few comments that were in poor taste.

His "I will hate the ****s until I die" comment I cannot condone. But I think it's easier to judge a victim of torture for harboring bigoted views in the wake of his torture than it would be to endure what he had and not think in terms of race. There are certain traumatic events which trigger animalistic response -- like rape victims developing bigoted views afterward.

I can tell you I harbor no bigotry toward anyone. (Maybe doctors.) I can't tell you how I would react after being tortured and I don't want to ever find out.

One thing I found amusing is that, on two separate occasions, I've brainstormed story ideas in my sleep. On both occasions, I reached the conclusions I would have reached while awake.

The first dream dealt with a supporting character in a work of fiction and whether or not he should be patterned after an 80s martial arts actor. (I decided against it.) The second dream dealt with what I would do if I had an opportunity to make a movie out of a cartoon show I liked as a child.

Not typically. I might type down a dream I've had if I'm talking about it. I do have plenty of memorable dreams though. I've grown curious over the years as to the possibilities and limitations of dreams.

Like, I can fly in dreams. But flight still adheres to the laws of physics in the sense that I can only move in one direction until I bank off of an obstacle and resume flight in another direction. That, or touch down after losing momentum. Flight also adheres to the same rules as Super Mario Bros. 3 / Super Mario World in that I must run before I can fly.

I think it's subliminally hardwired into my brain that flight is an extension of running momentum after years -- nay, decades -- of playing those two games.

They could've made Tom Cruise into Brendan Fraser's great grandson (since Fraser is from the 1930s and Cruise is from the 2010s). Maybe even have Fraser appear as a ghost. When he died, his family placed an amulet in his grave that would bound his soul to this Earth to protect future generations of his family. Great grandson Tom Cruise goes mummy-hunting, ghost Fraser tells him not to, Cruise does so anyway.

I think it would've sold. It would've been no less ridiculous than any of the other concepts in the Cruise Mummy movie.

I never saw the third Brendan Fraser movie.

It struck me as odd that they didn't make the recent movie the fourth film in the Fraser mummy series. That would've given the Dark Universe two decades of history to start with. Was the third film really so bad that they couldn't have possibly built upon it going forward?

To be fair, my disdain for the Cruise Mummy movie comes down to the scene introducing the love interest. She says that Tom Cruise stole the map from her after shooting prematurely during their one night stand. He fires back that she's delusional after being left physically and mentally exhausted by their all night lovemaking session.

If you took that convo out of the film, it might be decent. It was just too much for me to overlook at the time. It legitimately seems like something a 13 year old would write. <_<

I recently watched an action movie in which the final fight was Chuck Norris against a Vietnamese martial artist (Missing in Action 2). The opponent only got two offensive moves in despite the fight going more than three minutes. I can state with a clean conscience that I would 100% go back and film new footage of a Chuck Norris stunt double getting beaten up to make the fight more competitive. Is is that any more or any less okay than doing something sexual with a character without the actor's consent?
