Personally though. I've always thought grading homework at all is a scam and a form of busy work. It all should be optional. Homework is just structured and directed studying. How much or how well a student does it should be up to the student -- like all forms of studying. All that should matter is performance on tests, quizzes, and research/term papers. If you're using homework as a way to prepare a student for classroom discussion, sure fine. Grade the student on their ability to participate and contribute. I'm fine with that, but if a student can still be productive in the classroom without doing homework, more power to them.

Its one of many factors for why some students cant do school even if they have the ability.

Most banks have financial literacy advice on their apps, and its how I learned about credit.

And unlike school loans, credit cards try to protect younger users with lower credit limits.

Credit cards are one of the few financial tools that dont scam you.

I know what payment history means in the general sense, what's unclear is how FICO condenses that information into one single number exactly. They won't tell you, yet that number may have a significant impact on your life.

Its moreso they cannot. Can you imagine how many factors would be at play? Im sure a formula exists, but would knowing it do any good?

Can you have auto-pay on credit cards to pay the whole balance. The only reason I don't use then is I'm super forgetful about what I've already paid off/haven't. Practically all my bills are on auto-pay these days and I just keep checking my accounts to make sure nothing wonky is going on.

Auto pays are typically minimum payment only, but Im 90% sure you can have them text you when a due date is coming.

But in general, two years is when accounts arent considered new anymore. From there, its gradually better the older it gets.

Edit: oops, read your post wrong! Payment history is percentage of missed payments. Thats one of the easier ones. 75% on time payments isnt good. Just... dont miss payments.

The reason people have trouble making heads or tails is because people dont know whats good (I.E, is five years of credit age really good?), and people dont consider factors overall (deferring a school loan may not cause a missed payment, but interest can increase total amount owed).

Not to mention not every lender reports to every bureau.

Its really not that complicated. Theres different scoring models, sure, but in general that graph is safe to go by. Credit history matters more than credit score anyway.

I was told that it doesn't make a difference and that having your balance below 30% of your credit limit is something they want.

Below 30% is positive. Below 10% Is ideal.

Its a myth that carrying a balance is better though. It doesnt need to show on a statement for credit use to be shown. Your credit use is still reported.

Its installment accounts that you dont want to pay off. Revolving accounts like Credit cards you do.
