It certainly wouldn't hurt if police actually did their jobs and just stopped rioters/looters instead of indiscriminately attacking everybody.

oh god please don't turn this topic into another debate about the weapon degradation in BotW.

I'm not even trying to argue about the weapon degradation itself since I have no real opinion on it. I just don't get Santa's argument of saying something can't count as a "bad choice" if the overall game is good.

Guys you're missing the point, it doesn't matter if it's "bad" or "good" that weapons break. The point is the game is built around the weapons breaking and the game itself is good. You're supposed to be annoyed when your weapons break, because thats what gives you the relief when you find new powerful weapons. Thats what makes literally every korok seed a blessing. I know y'all have played rpgs where you opened chests, and had literally no emotional response when you find a legendary weapon, because the legendary weapon you found was just slightly worse than the one you have. This is a game built around the entire world being fun to explore, and every discovery giving you something. And whether or not you personally liked BotW you have to admit the game knocked that ambitious ideal out of the park.

I don't get this argument.

A game can be good despite something in it being bad, even a core element. It absolutely DOES matter if weapons breaking is "good" or "bad." Like, very few people argue that they love the weapons breaking, or that they love the dungeon structure, for instance. The argument is typically that they love everything else so much that the negatives aren't as important to them. If, in somebody's eyes, a game would be improved by removing/changing something, then it can absolutely apply as a "bad choice."

The fact the weapons breaking is such a hot issue is for a reason.

Apparently the crime itself was not deemed worthy of getting her immediately off the road. Just the fleeing was.

That sounds like a flaw in the legal system to me moreso, personally, but I'll agree to disagree.

Personally, I think you should have to forfeit your license for X amount of time if you're driving with no taillights. That it was just a ticket seems kinda bizarre given the whole issue with taillights in the first place.

What does chasing her down accomplish

I'd say the argument is the same for chasing down a drunk driver, to get a dangerous vehicle/driver off the road. Driving without taillights is incredibly dangerous. And when you have her admitting she's been doing it for six months and intends to do it for an undisclosed amount of time more, I don't blame the cop for going after her.

It's what happened after that I disagree with.

The issue is she admitted she'd been driving that way for six months and also said she had no intention of replacing the taillight until she eventually replaced the entire back cab. For that reason I don't fault the cop for following her.

I just don't think it necessarily needed to get physical in the first place.

Well, he chased her down because the back of her truck was totaled and she had no taillights working, then admitted she'd been driving that way for 6 months, which is incredibly dangerous.

Not saying I agree with that escalation, but she did admit she was indeed violent because "I'm a country girl."

We're talking about them because the internet is already jumping on multiple different Jacob Pedersons and Jacob Petersons, some cops, some not even, because somebody posted three screenshots of apparent texts with the ex-wife (or ex-fiancee depending on the source) that confirmed it's "Jacob Pederson" (or "Jacob Peterson," depending again on the source), and yet in none of the texts of this apparent source for who it is is the name actually included.

The point being everybody needs to chill a bit instead of playing internet detective because somebody has literally already had to make their Facebook private and change their name to "Jacob NOTACOP" because he was getting harassed.

Here's the supposed texts.

That said they apparently got his name from the ex-wife (previous source said ex-fiancee) and said it was Jacob Pederson but there's only a few Jacob Petersons that show up in any searches for cops around St. Paul, and it seems weird that an ex-wife/fiancee/whatever would misspell his name, so the texts are almost assuredly fake.

My only issue with it is the woman who apparently found out it was a cop posted snaps of text messages with the supposed ex-fiancee confirming it, but said ex-fiancee is like "omg that's my gas mask, and my gloves too!" but it's like... Why would your ex have your stuff. And why are you texting some random person from Facebook and calling them by their first name as if you know them.

The proof is extremely shaky thus far

Like, it's kinda weird that he's apparently wearing tactical boots and that's why people say it's a cop, but then he had to borrow his ex's gas mask and gloves that he just happened to still have?
