Final Fantasy VII Remake has been a huge hit for Square Enix -- particularly in the US. According to the latest NPD report -- which you can read all about through here -- the game has actually set a new franchise record. Based on first month sales, Remake is the highest selling title in series history. That's across both units sales and dollar sales. Cloud and co. take the crown from Final Fantasy XV, which launched back in 2016.

Going into more detail, Remake is officially the best selling PlayStation 4 game of 2020 in the US so far. It's also the third best selling title of 2020 overall in the US. Impressive.

And then I literally link a one of the thousand compilation vids on YouTube these kids are uploading and one of the many examples of how its being used and yall shut up real quick.

Then cut to, last month? Bring this up in a completely unrelated topic. When I just repeated those steps exactly and shit yall shut up again.

Why do you continue to pick a fight you keep losing? Some masochist shit my dude.

My computer reset and my entire reply was lost. Definitely not typing that again. I'll give you the short version.

No CEmen threw a fit at you in that topic. We all laughed at you because of the ridiculousness of your post. There's a difference. Nobody on this board take you seriously enough to engage with you and explain properly why you're wrong. I don't recall bringing this up last month unless you're talking about a different user. I do think it's humorous that you become very defensive when someone challenges you and calls out your antics. Maybe you shouldn't make those type of topics if you're sensitive and can't take the heat. Just a thought.

Im perfectly chill, thank you. And it is relevant based on how an easy mode is implemented, because this game has online elements that may or may not affect other players experience based on how an easy mode is implemented.

Look, Ive beaten every Souls game multiple times. This does not make me some kind of hardcore elite gamer. Souls difficulty is highly overrated to begin with. That said, I dont really care if some kind of easy mode were there, but the devil is in the details.

As I said, it's worth talking about but reach a consensus on the original question first.

I don't think anyone arguing against easy mode in Dark Souls has brought this up in this thread but correct me if I'm wrong. The most objective and arguable point against an easy mode in these games is something along the lines of budget, time, manpower, etc. Creating an easy mode would take time, money, employees and that could very well detract from the other content in the game especially if the developers cared enough to not just buff/debuff and call it a day.

Some of you guys are forgetting about how everyone is different. Yes, you may switch to an easy mode and think "Wow, I don't like this at all. It takes away from the experience I know". That's fine but there are many people who are still going to enjoy the game regardless and that's what matters at the end of the day. Player choice isn't a bad thing because it allows more people to enjoy the game. You know, the reason why video games exist in the first place. If FromSoftware implemented a difficulty option at the start asking if you're an experienced player or new player, just pick the experienced player option and move on with your day. It's not a big deal.

Most people aren't good at video games at all. I've had to point out how Sonic Mania had a jump button to friends. I've watched people play Smash and not know anything about how to recover or even shield despite not being new to the series. You may think "How do these people exist?". Well, they do and plenty of them want to play Souls/FromSoftware titles for whatever reason. If you guys are still curious on how an easy mode would be implemented, look at something like Jedi Fallen Order which is very similar to Sekiro for example. It's difficulty levels affects enemy aggression, incoming damage, parry times, and enemy A.I. Sekiro already has a similar mechanic called the Demon Bell that makes the game harder for people looking for a challenge.

Furthermore, an alleged insider who apparently has a good reputation has mentioned that FromSoftware is considering adjusting Elden Ring's difficulty. Like it or not, they may already be making the game more accessible for a variety of players. Some people here have argued that having an easy mode is not within From's vision for the game. Judging from Sekiro itself and potentially with future titles, seems like the devs are open to the idea of giving players more options aka player choice. That's all I'm really going to say on this subject. If you disagree, that's fine. Agree to disagree. I have no interest in talking circles with anyone. This topic has almost 300 posts and neither side can form some sort of consensus or agreement. It'd be a monumental waste of time to continue further.

Chill out. All Im saying is its not relevant to the what we are discussing. The question of how an easy mode can be implemented in Dark Souls deserves its own topic because theres a lot of potential discussion there. However, by shifting focus, we are deviating from the original question. Lets talk about one thing first and when everyone reaches some sort of agreement or compromise, then we can talk about how an easy mode would be implemented.

Theres something I want to point out but I need to read the entire topic again to make sure nobody has brought it up first so give me a few moments. Its a long topic with lengthy replies.

Unfair isnt really wrong. Adding an easy mode option in these types of games doesnt take away from your own personal experience so its perfectly reasonable for players to ask for the option. Yeah, the experience would probably be better if the player played through the game the way the devs intended but you have to understand its their choice to put the game on easy. Let people play the game how they want and you can play the game how you want.

Asking Unfair how he would design an easy mode isnt relevant like he pointed out. Youre leading the argument in a direction that would make it easier for you to refute. Dont do that.

Most people dont even finish these games and many that do cheese it in some way. Dont even kid yourselves. Plenty of people look up video guides on bosses or use cheese tactics to get an easy win. Easy mode being an option isnt too big of a deal. As long as people are enjoying themselves with the game, thats all that matters. Dont forget why we play video games in the first place.

For as many people who buy and enjoy these games, there are even more who refuse to try it due to the lack of difficulty options. Ive met a lot of people who know of Souls but wont even try it because they heard its too hard and thats a shame. I think everyone with a PS4 should try Bloodborne but most of them wont make it beyond Father Gascoigne.

Itll never go down in price. Your best bet is sale if you want the title. Its a fun game but I wouldnt have paid full price for it. In fact, I only paid $50. The expansion pass adds 13 new characters and an epilogue story thats roughly 1-2 hours long. Its only worth it if you really like the characters.

It doesnt really play like the first two games but its still not too bad. Theres some nice fan service and youll see characters that you didnt even know existed in the Marvel universe which is super neat. If you have people to play the game with, its much better. I think the game is worth buying. Just not at $60.

Earlier this month, I reported Nintendo isnt planning a Direct for June. As an update to that, Ill add that Nintendo isnt planning a Direct at all for now. Its telling development partners not to wait for a Direct even if they have a big announcement.

As for first-party games, expect Nintendo to repeat its Paper Mario: The Origami King strategy. Surprise trailer drops out of nowhere can still build a lot of excitement. The company also doesnt have to worry about meeting expectations if you dont know something is coming.

And whats coming is Pikmin 3 Deluxe, 3D Mario remasters, and Super Mario 3D World Deluxe. It could have some surprises beyond that, but it may wait for those until it can start doing Directs again.

https://venturebeat.com/2020/05/18/quartermann-e3-2020/

Apparently, this dude is pretty credible. Hasnt been wrong yet as far as I know. Weve known about the Direct situation but its nice to see some doubling down on the remasters and everything. Correct me if Im wrong but I believe that a new 2D Metroid game was among the leaked games coming soon. How exciting.

As another black person irl, youre going to have to accept that there are a lot of us who act just like Barret. We can have black characters being angry if theres a reason for why they are angry which there is in this instance. Given what Barret has experienced with his life, it makes sense why he acts the way he does so Im not sure why youre bringing race into this. Hes not even yelling every other line like you claim. When he is yelling, theres a lot of action and fighting going on. Hes pretty chill when taking care of Marlene, interacting with the rest of Avalanche, and during downtime in the game. There are layers to his character.

If Barret was constantly shouting and angry for literally no reason at all, you would be correct but thats not the case here. Context matters.

I like Kurosawa mode and how nature guides you to interesting locations on the map. The Ghost style of playing was pretty neat aside from the "Fear takedown" taken straight from Arkham Knight. I won't say I didn't like the Samurai style of playing. I just couldn't get a feel for the actual combat aside from it looking hilariously easy and simple. I'll need to see a lot more of Samurai style but it didn't impress me. Going from something like Sekiro to Ghost of Tsushima gameplay wise is going to be jarring. Sekiro really nailed the style of combat this game needed.

I like how the Japanese are calling it "Samurai Creed" and saying how Westerners have no idea what Japan looks like lol.

I think Nintendo could still build upon the foundation of the original two games while mixing things up enough so that it's fresh. For example, keep the unique locations, characters, charm, music, and turn based RPG battle system but add new overworld and battle system mechanics. That way, older fans are happy and newer people are intrigued enough to give it a try.

So far from what we've seen with The Origami King, Nintendo seems to still want to experiment with this franchise while throwing old fans a bone.

Ghost of Tsushima is set to be released on PS4 on July 17, and developer Sucker Punch will be showing off the game in a Sony State of Play this week.PlayStation has announced the first State of Play of 2020 will air on Thursday, May 14 at 1 pm PT/4 pm ET dedicated entirely to Ghost of Tsushima, the PS4 exclusive from the Infamous and Sly

According to the PlayStation Blog, the State of Play is still being finalized, but clocks in around 18 minutes long at the moment. But, to set expectations, Sony confirms this State of Play won't feature any PS5 news or updates instead, it's entirely focused on the upcoming open-world adventure.

Ghost of Tsushima recently had its release date pushed from June to July after Sony delayed The Last of Us Part 2 and Marvel's Iron Man VR. While Ghost is set to be released in just a couple months, we've only gotten a few scant looks at the game recently. The story trailer above was our most recent look, while an in-depth trailer at 2019's The Game Awards offered us a new look at Ghost of Tsushima's gory gameplay.

Ghost of Tsushima is, as of now, the last currently scheduled major first-party exclusive set for PS4 ahead of the PS5's planned holiday 2020 release.

Capcom plans to release multiple major new titles by March 31, 2021, the company said in its fiscal year 2019 results presentation.

The company aims to achieve a record 28 million unit sales in the fiscal year ending March 2021, which it aims to do by promoting a digital strategy via the expansion of sales regions and flexible pricing, releasing the aforementioned major titles, and pursuing ongoing sales for major titles from past years.

To compare, in the fiscal year ended March 2018, when Capcom shipped Monster Hunter: World and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, the company achieved 24.4 million total unit sales. In the fiscal year ended March 2019, when it shipped Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5, it achieved 25.3 million total unit sales. And in the fiscal year ended March 2020, when it shipped Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, it achieved 25.5 million total unit sales.
Capcom also announced that sales of the Resident Evil 3 remake have topped 2.5 million units, and sales of Monster Hunter: World have surpassed 15.5 million units.
