Topic | Hey mzsylver, how was the rest of your PAX? |
rjsilverthorn 03/04/20 9:52:27 PM #6 | AwesomeTurtwig posted... Pax was so fun. I want to go next year! I always enjoyed PAX but it got to be too damn expensive to go to Prime anymore and getting into the close hotel (the one actually attached to the convention center) at East was a pain. I think 2011 was the last East I went to though, so not sure if they've improved the process since then. I've done all three years of Unplugged since I actually live in Philly. |

rjsilverthorn 03/03/20 6:50:30 PM #25 | hypnox posted... It was an interview with Kevin Feige. I remember that much, tried looking for it for this topic but too many interviews to find it. I do need to confirm something about the outcome of Infinity War, and apologies if youve addressed this the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp led to conversations. Are half the animals dead? Are half of the horses gone? Half of the ants? Yes! Yes. All life. https://birthmoviesdeath.com/2018/07/08/kevin-feige-still-wont-tell-us-all-marvels-future-plans So he confirms animals and insects, but never explicitly confirms plants. |

rjsilverthorn 03/03/20 5:15:32 PM #11 | Mead posted... thats not how that works Since the whole process is rather undefined it is hard to say exactly how it would work, but since it is an undefined 50% reduction in life on the planet and not each life form on the planet has a 50% chance of dying or each species is reduced by 50%, then yes it would be improbably for a large number of humans to get dusted given the fraction of a percent of all life on the plane they represent. |
Topic | One thing that bugs me about Infinity war....(spoilers) |
rjsilverthorn 03/03/20 4:52:40 PM #9 | hypnox posted... All I am saying is, let's say it was 50% of all life, the fact that many heros dusted and NOT A SINGLE BLADE OF GRASS OR TREE on screen did was stupid. If it was 50% of all life then even a single human getting dusted is statistically unlikely. |
Topic | What are some of the most recurring types of dreams you have? |
rjsilverthorn 03/02/20 11:42:55 PM #7 | I repeatedly have dreams where I'm back in school, its almost the end of the year and I realize there is some class that I've never gone to and I'm wandering around trying to find the classroom. I also have dreams where I'm driving a car but I'm in the backseat for some reason and I can't reach the brakes. I mean, I can't reach anything else either, but it is always specifically the brakes that I'm concerned about. |

Topic | Would you voluntarily be vegan or vegetarian for a solid year? |
rjsilverthorn 02/29/20 7:41:21 PM #4 | No. If I wasn't already why would I bother to do so for a year for no reason. |
Topic | KFC to introduce new 'Donut Chicken' Sandwich for a Limited Time... |
rjsilverthorn 02/29/20 5:21:06 PM #11 | I've seen other places with that, so it isn't really new. It is a spin on chicken and waffles. |
Topic | Why don't presidents have facial hair anymore? |
rjsilverthorn 02/28/20 5:37:05 PM #15 | Beards seemed to have been a very short trend in the presidency. Going through the presidential portraits, Lincoln was the first with a beard and then you've got Grant, Hayes, Garfield and Arthur all in short order after that with beards. A brief gap with Grover Cleveland then Benjamin Harrison as the last beared president. So really all of our bearded presidents were in a span of 30 or so years. |

Topic | the boy scouts are filing for bankruptcy due to all the lawsuits. |
rjsilverthorn 02/27/20 1:54:34 PM #23 | InfestedAdam posted... No. The Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America are two separate organizations with their own ranks, awards, standards, and ideology but their history is a bit connected. This is just for the United States though. Most other Scouting programs in other countries are combined and co-ed. Unfortunately, much like the Catholic church, there was a lot of high level involvement in keeping these incidents quite in an effort to protect the reputation of the Boy Scouts. "This decision is consistent with Boy Scouts history of protecting sexually abusive scout leaders, as documented in thousands of BSAs Ineligible Volunteer or Perversion files. In 2012, a court order unsealed hundreds of files created between 1960 and 1985, revealing allegations of child sexual abuse by adult leaders that resulted in BSA removing the leader from Scouting, but doing nothing else. These publicly available IV files (https://documents.latimes.com/philip-l-warner/) reveal decades of official BSA policy to quietly push child molesters out of the organization, without informing law enforcement, the community, or even the parents of Scouts that the man had abused children. File after file shows an intent to cover up the problem in order to save the good reputation of the Boy Scouts. This successful plan of concealment meant the Boy Scouts knew they were setting sexual predators lose in New York and communities across the country, with apparently clean backgrounds and the ability to volunteer in other youth-serving organizations." https://www.huffpost.com/entry/why-the-boy-scouts-are-lobbying-against-children_b_5936181ae4b0c670a3ce67d2 |

rjsilverthorn 02/13/20 2:39:52 PM #5 | I liked Division 2 much more than I expected I would. I've been playing it solo and, outside of the raid content that requires groups, I haven't run into any issues. The new content in NYC is looking nice too. |
Topic | Were arcades a big part of your life? |
rjsilverthorn 02/08/20 11:36:03 AM #19 | I lived in arcades as a kid. My dad was big into pinball so I was introduced young. I remember dragging the little stool around so that I could reach the controls. |

Topic | Is the Empire State building strong enough to actually support a great ape? |
rjsilverthorn 01/12/20 10:11:01 AM #7 | The steel structure of the building is almost certainly strong enough, but all of the exterior isn't structural so I'm fairly sure he wouldn't have been able to climb it without destroying the facade. |

Topic | I just had the epiphanny that Final Fantasy VIII: Remake might actually be good. |
rjsilverthorn 01/04/20 7:22:27 PM #5 | Since you reference Midgar I assume you meant to say Final Fantasy VII and not VIII. I don't have much interest in remakes in general since I've got a backlog of new games as it is, but I had even less interest in this one after they announced it was episodic. |
