If you're rioting because the government/police don't give a fuck about your votes and peace protests, why are you burning buildings and destroying property they also don't give a fuck about?

My guess is to try to force their hand. Even they don't care about those, with enough eyes on them they might have to pretend they care.

Or, could just be blind rage. Or, maybe even opportunists taking advantage. A looter who doesn't give a shit about the cause can use riots as camouflage. Maybe even incite a riot so they can hide in it.

Thats a poor analogy. A better analogy would be a bully who antagonizes an entire group of people, right in front of the public, and the staff, and administration. Who all then choose to look the other way.

You attempt to talk your way through it with the people who could stop them, and it doesnt work. You attempt to peacefully resolve it, and the bully hits you anyway. So, what option do you have left other than to lash out?

Take my peers who were also bullied, along with any support I can get, and lash out at the administration and the bully/bullies. Not at random students.

Mostly lower class or poverty white people are like this. They've never had the opportunity to realize priveledge do to living situations. I mean, no one looks at a poor person, regardless of their skin color, with admiration. When you look at ugly-ass white trailer trash, do you think positively about them lol? I doubt it severely lol. They've never felt like they mattered either, so when they see a movement crop up, they just see it as yet another thing that doesn't include them.

There's one thing about poverty: it doesn't give a fuck about your skin color and no one cares about you.

I have 2 littles, and it sucks at times. No more 3 AM trips to waffle house. No more binge watching Netflix till the next morning with the wife. No more miday sex. Sex becomes difficult, period, especially when the little ones are really young, and if you make the mistake of co-sleeping. A lot of the other complaints, like partying and what not, I don't have cause I never partied anyway.

There are some upsides to help counter the misery, tho they are mostly emotional. You get to experiencing everything for the first time again through them. Seeing your little ones eyes light up in wonder over their first 4th of July firework show. Seeing their reaction to their first visit at the zoo. Hearing their little laughs. Everything is just so new and magical to them. For just a moment, the world becomes a place that isnt a complete, uncaring shitstain.

I'm at work, then I go home to be with my family consisting of 2 small children and a spouse. Up until literally yesterday, I was the only one in my household working.

Going to a protest, depending on the gathering, would end with me being injured or jailed. That equals not good for my family.

I'm not in a circumstance in which I can purposely jeopardize myself without causeing possible serious livelihood harm to those I share a home with.

Not really a good comparison. What could i possibly say to her to make her change her views? She was very adamant about being stuck in her ways with no remorse. its more akin to trying to persuade someone on CE during an argument. its just not gonna happen. Initially I thought that too, but we have to realize that the riots and protests are not solely because of what happened with the murder. Its part of it, but whats happening is due to a larger, ongoing injustice that has been going on for too long. We are bearing witness to the culmunation of centuries of abuse by those who have unchecked power, vs those with very little power. Riots aren't an initial reaction, but a last resort

It could be something that happened 2 decades ago. The person is far removed from my life, but the thoughts keep coming. Still replaying, still imagining, still getting pissed off/sad/whatever.

It could be something that didn't even happen to me, but something I witnessed that just rubbed me the wrong way. Could be a total stranger.

Like, there was this dude at a movie theater YEARS ago who was giving a worker shit because he was checking tickets at the door to the movie. The dude was clearly a jock type and was used to walking on people. I felt like telling the guy to stop being a dick and just show his damn ticket like everyone else was, that he wasnt special. I still think about that shit even though it had zero to do with me.
