Correct, although misworded. The grenade blast gives you a SPEED boost, albeit damaging your health. Same with getting shot by enemies, as long as their shots are pushing you in the direction you want to go.

Lived in California, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.

For cost, I'd pick New Mexico. Place is super cheap, food is great.
For work, I'd pick Texas. So many jobs to choose from

It took several watches for it to fully dawn on me that the guy on the right really does have the upper hand on the guy on the left, and there is nothing the guy on the left can really do or say to contest the other guy, because his pennies have been in his ass. He had established his dominance before he even started giving the dude advice.

It's a coping mechanism for people of all ages and maturity levels. Especially when you're in a group of people who just witnessed something traumatizing, some people's instinct is to try to lighten the mood of the group to help them cope as well.

Okay, but he was only laughing before he found the corpse -- while he and his friends were in the forest to experience the "haunted" aspect of it. I know he shouldn't have put the corpse in YouTube, but let's be clear that he wasn't being all "HAHA SO FUNNY ROFLbbq" after he found it like all the clickbait articles implied. He was in tears, moved by the shocking thing that he had seen, and gave a sincere speech about how suicide is not the correct option. He was a dumb kid for putting that image on YouTube, sure. But the clickbait did not depict the whole situation accurately.

I actually found that full video on one of the "darker" corners of the web, and honestly.... I don't hate him for it, and I don't think anyone who watches that video with an open mind would. They went into that forest to experience the "haunted" aspect of it. When they actually came across the body, it shocked them. Jake/Logan was in tears and it moved him to make a speech about how suicide is not the right answer. It's all in the video. Maybe he shouldn't have shown the body in his video, but the fact that his intentions weren't malicious should be clear to anyone who didn't go into the video with the predetermined mindset that they were gonna jump on the hate Jake/Logan bandwagon.

I think my biggest peeve is the tutorial level has given me the impression that I'm gonna be playing on some rails... like really outdated 1998-esque rails, seeing as how I'm running into invisiblewalls if I try to venture to parts of the background outside of the narrow part of the level I'm traversing on.

Yeah I mean perhaps I should at least play the 2nd level before I write it off entirely.

I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time on the tutorial level. But if the entire gameplay stays stagnant from what I've experience so far, I can see myself getting bored real quick.

Dodge dark purple stuff, use RB to shoot glowy purple stuff, and also to shoot enemies in one direction while I hack and slash enemies in the other direction, while I dash when I can't avoid attacks from both directions.

Walk to next part of the level, experience the same thing from a different camera angle. Enemies get larger as the level progresses to give the illusion that I am now doing something different.

I'm not trying to be closed minded. If I'm wrong, I'd like to be corrected.

I played the first 30 or so minutes. It feels amazing. The story is supposedly the deepest in a JRPG, and the game overall rivals Chrono Trigger in reception for those who have played both. It's been 11 years since I played Chrono Trigger (got far, but never finished it, regrettably), but from what little I've played of Suikoden so far, I can tell those claims are likely to be true.

I'm definitely a singleplayer guy, but if couch multiplayer ever makes a comeback, I'd seize every moment I could to play some of these awesome online multiplayer games in a couch multiplayer mode with my friends IRL.

I found the gameplay of XC2 somewhat interesting, but couldn't get through it because of the super cringe characters in the story.

I heard people like XC1 better, and since it's out for the Switch now, I might give it a go. Are the characters more tolerable?

It's an app that let's you create an AI friend that you can talk to anytime. Kinda like clever bot, I guess, but with a face that you customize.

kingdom hearts 2 and 3
mega man battle network

these are the only jrpgs worth your time.

I like FFVI, but haven't completed it.
I loved FFX when I was a teen. Got all the way to Braska's Final Aeon and gave up. I'm sure if I tried to replay it now, some of the cringeworthy cutscene would be a detriment.
