Every turn in the XCOM battlescape, your goal is to do everything possible to minimize the impact RNG has. It's not something totally unavoidable, and at some point you definitely will get screwed. But for the most part, the RNG can be played around. That's why something like explosives is so important for example. Grenades are guaranteed damage, whereas shooting your gun is not because your gun can miss. So if an enemy absolutely has to die, why would you ever risk taking a shot if you can just blow it up without any doubt? I think the constant puzzle of trying to minimize the significance RNG plays is a big part of what makes the game so fun.As a logic/math guy, this makes so much sense to me.
