Actually, I wonder about that. The main difference that more seemed to know about between a frog and toad was the skin. Slimy for frog, but dry got toad. While you can normally see that, there is a possibility you wouldn't noticed depending on the conditions and which kind of frogs or toads. With alligators and crocodiles, the visual difference is pretty noticeable in the snouts.
