So Reddit is attempting an utterly Sisyphean task

The top admins have wrested control of moderator approval from notorious hate-filled cesspool the_donald subreddit. They seem to believe that they can clean the place up if they can just approve good moderators who have no tolerance for the sort of disgusting activity the forum is known for. Thats all they need to be set straight.

The subreddit as you probably could have guessed is taking this as poorly as possible.

But why would Reddit even try this instead of just nuking the damn place like they have done to so many other subreddits who are guilty of far less?

My hope is that its just a bureaucratic step to demonstrate to any outside media that all attempts were made to allow the community to course-correct before the end came, because the name of the subreddit itself is such a lightning rod for ignorant outsiders to think Reddit is just targeting a benign Trump fan club
