The vague storytelling is his style and he attributes it to a story about an unopened gift given to him from his grandfather. Also JJ isnt good at writing and neither is the guy who wrote Batman vs. Superman & Justice League. Rian Johnson could have followed up on stuff from The Force Awakens but he didnt. Oh and Jar Jar Binks is one of the funniest characters ever created, people just hate him because of RLMs trolling. Everything in the prequels is better paced and makes more sense than the sequels. Specifically about the Resistance needing Luke Skywalker and about the galaxy needing a legend. Theres that scene at the end of the kids talking about Luke at the Battle of Crait, and then one of them looks to the sky and raises his broom as if it were a lightsaber. So in Rise of Skywalker there could have been a line early in the film or in the opening crawl about how Lukes actions on Crait helped inspire more people to join the Resistance but thats its not enough, they need more. Luke gets more than one scene, he tells Rey what his 3rd lesson is/was and he suggests to her that maybe she can take on the legendary Skywalker name and help inspire & rally more good people throughout the galaxy. It makes that scene of Lando suddenly bringing an entire fleet composed of random ships throughout the galaxy less ridiculous. Palpatine sent out his Im back *****es! message to the galaxy and Lando uses his connections to spread the word that Skywalker is back and is going after Palpatine again but needs the galaxys help to defeat him once & for all. ugh whatever --- Sig User Logic https://imgur.com/lA5fm7w |

Her parents could still have been top officials of the Rebellion or Empire tho. Like they became massive targets and were being hunted down so to keep her safe until things cooled down they left her in the care of someone. Or they could have just been regular people. I just really dont like that she was sold off to some alien junk dealer that looked & sounded like he wouldnt bother to do the bare minimum in looking after a small child. But if she needed to have been sold off in the story then they should have shown/included a line or two about her having grown up with other kids and they looked after one another.
