I think I enjoyed both on the same levels because both have HUGE pros and cons. Like, I'll probably still be catching all 9.

I really hope the next trilogy really jump starts some totally unrelated and unexplored stuff. No more Empires and shit.

The prequels would be good if they were trimmed down into one or two films with redone CGI.

At least the prequels had good art design, the ST reused too many assets.

It's 2020, I'm trying to be more generous, so Imma let you in on a little secret and then leave it to Disney. You can enjoy the movies on their own, (you got your high fantasy in 1, your mystery/romance in 2, your space opera in 3) and that's totally valid. But the deepest joy for a dedicated Star Wars fan... the funnest part of spending time with this franchise is seeing the connections and parallels between both trilogies. "This is where the fun begins," Anakin and Luke's choices, Palpatine's manipulations, character tics between mother/daughter, father/son, brother/brother, on and on and on.... It's not just memes. There's a depth to the original Star Wars saga that Joe Blow never fucking recognized. And that's what long term fans have been enjoying all along.

https://alexplorer.net/starwars/movies/sw-parallels.html

It doesn't stop there. The EU is laced with exactly the same sort of thing across hundreds of stories and millions of years. But everyone who couldn't bother to see any value in that got what they wanted when George sold off to Disney, and they're still bitching!

They tried with Star Wars Resistance. It failed.

Yeah, nothing has beaten the reaction of Yoda during his fight in my experience. Not even the Endgame scene at the end, which probably the second. The theater went crazy. It was really hyped back then.

I was 9, I cheered too.

And then I grew up, and saw them again, and it was painful when it wasn't unintentionally hilarious.

People went to see it with their kids, and treated it like they would Power Rangers. And for the record, there was cheering when the Falconzord saved the monorail.

Prequel trilogy is mostly boring to watch (2 was the worst at that) and had horrid acting, but provided a lot of background lore and potential to Star Wars that the EU used extremely well.

Sequel trilogy movies are visually stunning (the Holdo maneuver is one of the greatest-looking shots in the franchise), decently acted, and exciting to watch, but the story is a clear afterthought and it made no attempt to expand the lore in any meaningful manner.

Hell, I've always said the Maul fights justify the rest of movie. That, And Star Wars Podracing is one of the best racing games of all time.

Aside from the few seconds after Maul got his saber cut in half, it doesn't look any of them are eve trying to actually hit eachother, but rather clash their sabers together and random points in the air.

And the throwback in Rebels is just really good, ok

I watched the prequels a few weeks ago on TNT. I think they held up pretty well. Especially Revenge of the Sith.

Also, I always liked the prequels. Not as much as the OT, but still didn't hate them.

Guys like Red Letter Media told us to hate the prequels but meh, most of their opinions are dumb as fuck.

Example: "OMG The Jedi use lightsabers too much! In the OT they barely used them and now they whip them out every 5 seconds..."

Umm yeah... because this trilogy focuses on...the Jedi? And their downfall? So they're going to use .....the Jedi weapon in these films..... isn't hard to understand.

The PT is trash, yes, that doesn't suddenly make the ST any less so. They're equally bad for different reasons.

The sad part though is how them being awful (coupled with the shitty special editions) retroactively makes even the OT feel crummy as well. For me at least, the Star Wars films have become the worst part of the entire franchise.

TC, how old are you? Did you see the prequels when they first came out? Because I did, at midnight, and people were cheering and having a great time. In the second movie when Yoda pulls out the Lightsaber is by far the biggest 'pop' I have ever heard in a movie theater. They fucking loved it
Same here.

I saw Episode III in theaters. Will never ever forget the helmet scene and Vader takes his first breath and then rises. Good lord, that pop.

The prequels are great. I like the part with hundreds of lightsabers and the dance fighting. Oh and Jar Jar Binks is one of the funniest characters ever created, people just hate him because of RLMs trolling. Everything in the prequels is better paced and makes more sense than the sequels. The prequels arent perfect but theyre great and they at least have more lightsabers and explosions. Also Rey is a Mary Sue

What a weird post to make.

We were all in high school and cut claas to catch a 12 PM show. I was the only SW fan in my group and there were no kids in the theater. Everybody knows it's a bad scene in hindsight. No shit, that was the point of the post.

Regardless, this wasn't cheering. This was people screaming "OHHHHHHH SHIT" because of how shocking it was at the time.

And lol, how would you know the reaction of the first Power Rangers movie if you were 2 when it came out?

The most hype movie showing I went to as a kid was Pokmon: The Movie. A theater filled with kids who loved Pokmon cartoons. What a weird time.

But I mostly saw the blockbusters on a Sunday morning with my Dad in an Australian suburb so having hype crowds wasn't really a thing for me very often.

1 is tolerable, 2 is utter trash and 3 is a good movie

this.

also two decades in the past. If you barely beat the trilogy from two decades before (and I do mean barely) you still lose.

hell, you actually lose a lot harder because you had far more resources to be better, and still failed.

the ST is trash and Im not sure why so many people wanna defend it. If MCU dropped a terrible set of movies Im willing to bet people are gonna say WTF instead of saying you just dont get it.
