I work at a medical university that has been doing data modeling just for the cases in the metroplex. As far as I can tell, their model is very accurate now. While they didn't retroactively model what it would look like if they shut down earlier, they could model what the case numbers would look like if we had shut down any later than we did. And the numbers for one and two week delayed are absolutely ridiculously larger. Delaying 1 week is 4x the amount of cases. Delaying 2 weeks is 18x higher.

And this is in an area that did not have an early spike, mind you. It absolutely stands to reason that if the places hit hardest had shut down even a little bit sooner it would have made an enormous difference.

It's theory. Just like the theory modeling on predicted deaths. The reason why it is likely not very accurate though is because it assumes things. In general, since we never had overwhelmed hospitals systems. Whoever has died would have died eventually. Just may have taken longer to get there.

The VP of Ops never wanted to scale back at all, he just wanted to follow correct procedures and operate as normal (we are a medical company). However, he doesn't see eye to eye or communicate well with the person who runs sales . Sales made sweeping cuts when the pandemic started and so everyone else was forced to follow suit. Now he can't bring people back on until sales climb back to an acceptable level which is at the whim of how quickly sales bring back staff and how much they want to spend on marketing.

Our sales are usually $3m to 3.2m a week. After sales cut ~75% of the workforce, they dropped to $1.2-1.3m. They have steadily climbed back to about $1.8m a week but the company doesn't want to start bringing back non sales people back until we are at least in the $2m to $2.5m region. Due to my position, I'll be on the backend of the people brought back.

Sucks they are saying they are so profitable now and having people laid off.

I mean, I've been against the strict measures from the start but it isn't my choice to not be working right now. The company I work for is actually deemed essential but made the decision to go to skeleton crew so they didn't hemorrhage money. Sad part of it is, May is apparently on track to be one of the most profitable months in the companies history according to the VP of Operations (he's a good friend of mine so I still find out what is going on)

This is the only time I have not been working since I was 15 years old (I'm in my mid 30s now) and the only time I have ever tried to claim benefits. I've literally never gone a week without a job before this. Believe me I would much rather have been working all this time than sat at home.

Imagine being the vp of operations buddy and not being able to get him to hire you on again.

Article I read prior which I can't find at the moment said they shut down Orange County beach at Huntington and Newport. That the county south of it complained it was causing overcrowding at their beaches and that they were trying to enforce only allowing their country residents to the beach (however they planned to do that is beyond me). They were having council meetings to discuss possibly shutting down their own beaches due to the situation.

I am still at shock you feel that an influx doesn't happen if you are allowed to suddenly do something one day you normally could do all the time but weren't allowed to do for a long time prior.

Or that a lack of other things being open doesn't cause an influx.

What you wanna do today. Well, uh, let's see. Out to eat? Closed. Movie? Closed. Arcade? Closed. Bar? Closed. Gym? Closed. Uhhh, mini golf? Closed. Museum? Closed. Theme park? Closed. Beach? OPEN!

Puns has done absolutely nothing at all this game. Usually he is more of an entity as either alignment. But in seems more jarring from a him being a town perspective than scum.

Damion has never been a really active player, and I feel like the entire case on him is less activity than last game, which was an outlier likely to obscure his identity.

I said he was likelier town yesterday, and I am relatively going to stick with that now, but I did not stick to that during the night phase.

I have talked about different people being scum today. I talked about Lea and the likelihood that Sceptile and Lea are paired. I talked about how Lea's vote was trapped in red. I talked about red's interaction with me at the end of the day. I adjusted Ben's alignment based on the end of the day.

The fact that you are viewing someone is scum because they aren't vote hopping and because they took a wait and see approach on a lynch that didn't require their vote is silly.

Yes, I told you red was likely scum. I said I felt death was more likelier scum so I left my vote there. This is consistent with my town game how many times that irks Chris to kingdom come. If it had gone to a tie, I would have been forced to make a decision. It didn't. I wasn't relatively unhappy if Lea got lynched either there because her claim was very suspect. I said as much yesterday. I also have Lea likelier as scum today because of how that all unfolded.

It was better to sit back and analyze what happened on the lynch. Without having to make a vote, I am able to analyze more people who did make votes.

I can't say 100% I would have voted red in the moment if it went to a tiebreaker as I started to believe they were both scum towards the end. But, I can tell you I thought red was scum earlier on because he wasn't doing anything. I called him out on it multiple times.
