The problem is we have many organizations incentivized to attribute deaths to covid-19, including hospitals who receive extra aid money/disbursement for coronavirus patients. Since many hospitals have been forced to cut back on elective surgeries, which gives them most of their profits, they need to get as much money as they can.

You might have read about all the hospitals going bankrupt.

Here's an example from Colorado for you guys pretending like this shit is a conspiracy or something conservatives made up out of thin air.

https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/anti-vax-doctor-covid-19-death-certificates-984407/

You said this article provided examples of hospitals inflating numbers, but it described conspiracy theories from various right wing/Republicans about hospitals inflating numbers.
"There is, of course, no evidence that COVID-19 death certificates are being manipulated to inflate the death count and needless to say, having someone with a doctors credentials publicly diminish the threat of COVID-19 is dangerous to the public good, to say the least, says Dr. Joan Donovan, research director at Harvard Kennedy Shorenstein Center. This kind of speculation is driving toward two different outcomes, she says. One is very dangerous in the sense that if people think the death rate is being inflated, they may take on risky behaviors. The second would be that, if someone is convinced that the profit motives of the hospital outweigh the drive to keep them well, they may avoid the hospital if they think it wont provide good care."

Also, while hospitals are getting additional money from CARES, do you have a source that is allocated by number of COVID cases?

What's True
During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.
What's False
Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-identifies-another-hoax-the-coronavirus-152649383.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=2_08

During a flurry of activity on his Twitter account, Trump retweeted a message from game show host Chuck Woolery that claimed everyone is lying about the coronavirus as part of a plot to sabotage the economy and hurt Trumps reelection campaign.
The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19, wrote Woolery in the message promoted by Trump. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most ,that we are told to trust. I think its all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. Im sick of it.

That doesn't make any sense, particularly when you consider that many people are out there using improvised masks. What happened is, he got caught napping, same as the rest of the task-force, and by the time he woke up it was too late. So much for our technocracy, the "experts" we're supposed to obey without question. This crisis is not only Trump's failure, but a failure on behalf of the supposed experts as well, because they were supposed to be advising him.

You're mis-paraphrasing, but I just quoted someone who said almost that exact thing. You can't be serious.

1) It does make sense, as others have pointed out because standard procedure is for healthcare to only use PPE ONCE.

1B) If Fauci was napping, are you saying he had information/evidence that the use of masks by EVERYBODY overrode the drawback of depleting the supply?

2) Interesting that you didn't answer this - again, why do you believe Trump would have listened to unified experts?

3) Your exact statement was "This sentiment that "only Fauci" has been the one to change is falling dangerously to cult worship. As if he's at the vanguard of this." DarkRoast's post you quoted said "Trump deliberately spread distrust about Fauci, when Fauci was basically the only one in government willing to adjust his views and recommendations based on the evidence as it became available." Are you saying there were others in the government that also changed their views? Or are you agreeing with her, but saying that the broad concept of "cult worship" is wrong?

Thats partly true, but how come Fauci didn't come right out at the outset and advocate for masks? Same with Birx, Adams, etc. Fauci has been a top infectious disease expert for decades. Birx, Adams, all have been at the top of their field for decades. If they had come out in a united front, Trump would've taken notice. Part of the reason has to be because our technocracy isn't all that smart, or they were too trusting of the WHO, who repeatedly said, in an effort to cover China's ass, or perhaps other reasons still, that the virus wasn't being transmitted by airborne pathways. The other thing is Fauci isn't the "only one to adjust". The corona task-force advisors has all changed tack as the months have gone on. This sentiment that "only Fauci" has been the one to change is falling dangerously to cult worship. As if he's at the vanguard of this.

I'm not DarkRoast, but
1) Fauci didn't because (as he said at the time) there wasn't enough evidence that EVERYbody wearing masks was helpful compared to the drawback of depleting the supply for healthcare workers. This has been stated multiple times in response your exact question.
2) Why do you believe Trump would have listened if "there was a unified field"? There was a unified field of intelligence agencies (both in the US and international) saying Russia had interfered in the 2016 election, Trump handwaved it away saying he knew more/better
3) Who exactly is saying "Only Fauci knew better"?

@Ruvan22 I'm not a big expert, but I've read the 75th Anniversary hardcover. The 40's stuff is just more kid-friendly and it fits that era and the audience they were going for (mostly kids). It had a distinct kiddy art style that fit the material and the stories. The 2010's version is more modern and dark and contemporary. The art is more realistic (Gary Frank is an awesome artist). Similar to how Man of Steel was a modern update of Superman. In the comics, I think the books Birthright and Superman Earth One influenced the MoS tone. It's typical of the dark tone in comics that started somewhere in the late 80's.

If you want to look visually, just Google "CC Beck Captain Marvel" and "Gary Frank Shazam" to see what the stuff looks like in comparison.

Thanks for the summary! I grew up with Timmverse Batman, so my starting point for the DC is definitely flavored by the modern tastes (saw a few episodes of the 60s Batman and could never get into it because of the tone)

Yeah a couple of the DC characters are inherently more hard (compared to Marvel) to do justice on film. Shazam is an old concept but the movie used the modern interpretation from the 2010s by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. If they went full 1940's, it would have been wack.

Funny thing, Captain Marvel aka Shazam was a bigger comic book property in the 1940's at his peak than Superman was. Then when Fawcett Comics got sued and taken to court, he got put on the shelf. The writer who did a lot of that early Captain Marvel work then went on to do Superman at DC and applied a lot of those same concepts to him. The superpets, other people with similar powers, etc.

Not very familiar with Shazam (saw the movie and his appearances in JLU), what's the difference between 2010 and 1940s version?

Betsy DeVos is the literal worst, however I will point out that the American Academy of Pediatrics themselves recommend reopening K-12 schools because the objective data we've gathered suggests that not only is it safe, it may actually be more safe than children staying home, or at least be less dangerous than the economic and social impact of homeschooling on the workforce.

https://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2020/07/08/peds.2020-004879

On the basis of these data, SARS-CoV-2 transmission in schools may be less important in community transmission than initially feared. This would be another manner by which SARS-CoV-2 differs drastically from influenza, for which school-based transmission is well recognized as a significant driver of epidemic disease and forms the basis for most evidence regarding school closures as public health strategy.11,12 Although 2 reports are far from definitive, the researchers provide early reassurance that school-based transmission could be a manageable problem, and school closures may not have to be a foregone conclusion, particularly for elementary schoolaged children who appear to be at the lowest risk of infection. Additional support comes from mathematical models, which find that school closures alone may be insufficient to halt epidemic spread13 and have modest overall impacts compared with broader, community-wide physical distancing measures.14
These data all suggest that children are not significant drivers of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is unclear why documented SARS-CoV-2 transmission from children to other children or adults is so infrequent

Almost 6 months into the pandemic, accumulating evidence and collective experience argue that children, particularly school-aged children, are far less important drivers of SARS-CoV-2 transmission than adults. Therefore, serious consideration should be paid toward strategies that allow schools to remain open, even during periods of COVID-19 spread. In doing so, we could minimize the potentially profound adverse social, developmental, and health costs that our children will continue to suffer until an effective treatment or vaccine can be developed and distributed or, failing that, until we reach herd immunity.

I thought the clarified their position as being more cautious a few days ago?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2020/07/10/pediatrics-association-slams-trump-argument-for-reopening-schools/#43ed4f3d718f

"Schools in areas with high levels of COVID-19 community spread should not be compelled to reopen against the judgment of local experts, the organizations said, arguing a one-size-fits-all approach is not appropriate for the reopening plans."
"Science should drive decision-making on safely reopening schools. Public health agencies must make recommendations based on evidence, not politics, the statement notes. We should leave it to health experts to tell us when the time is best to open up school buildings, and listen to educators and administrators to shape how we do it.

yeah. anyway he has become posh ass that refuse to eat dry food. i've given him special canned food to help with digestion but the doc said it's safe to introduce him to dry food now ( i plan to always mix them because i heard dry only is bad i long term ) but he absolutely refuse to eat it lol

I've heard dry food is bad long term too, specifically because indoor cats don't then get regular water/hydration. Do you have a water bowl? It might be expensive, but I've also heard running water fountains (like a small repeating water fall) is good for getting them to drink

Lots of fake moralizing and HARDCORE virtue signaling going on in this thread, but still no one addressing any of the points I made or attempting to explain away the double standards. That is very telling. Check mate.

You claimed there is a double standard - but didn't provide any proof? If I repeatedly said "Unicorns live in the middle of the Earth", that doesn't make it true. Anecdotally, I have seen lots of broad negative generalizations of leftists/Democrats go unmoderated/posters have received no consequence. If you have specific examples to share, please do, otherwise you are just deflecting (as you said, you haven't watched the video this thread is about)
