I think having to start with one card less is the optimal errata for Companion. Anything else gets too complex and/or deviates too much from the intent. They definitely won't be banning the mechanic itself.

I feel like the dawn of streaming services that allow multiple distribution forms has made movies more accessible than ever before, increasing the chances of a lot of good films that wouldn't necessarily earn big box offices get more exposure. And that seems to me like a much bigger deal to cinema than a successful blockbuster franchise.

I don't think it actually helps smaller films get exposure at all. Almost all streaming services just bury those titles in with the other two or three dozen new titles that will pop up in the same time frame while giving 90% of their promotional space to the same huge titles that dominate the box office. The one service I can think of that focused more on niche movies is one of the first that closed up shop, as well.

If you're interested in movies like that not only are you not likely to learn about any of them on a streaming service, if you do watch them through streaming instead of small, local theaters you're helping to cut off their primary source of revenue. If anything, streaming is actually making it harder for most independent filmmakers.

The Jay Treaty effectively gives the States nothing. The crown retains the ability to capture ships, seize goods, and press Americans into their service. The forts they abandoned were to be vacated under the Treaty of Paris and the tribes they provided arms to did not lose their ability to attack settlers in the territories. Further, there is nothing in the language of the treaty that forces Britain to repay any of the damages should they decide to walk away from additional negotiations.

The treaty may allow for trade with the West Indies, but what stops the British from declaring the goods were intended for the French? What stops them from simply taking American ships, goods, and citizens simply because they choose to do so? The treaty provides no guarantee against further abuses by the crown. The only thing that stops them from ignoring the Jay Treaty as they see fit, as they did with the Paris Treaty, is that it does not force them to do anything.

As for the issue of taxation, I would suggest all British goods be taxed extensively. This would prevent them from flooding the market as well as fund the Federal government.

I can see how that'd be annoying, but I was having fun and laughing hard. It was just kind of amusing. He and I both knew he didn't have any way to win, but until he decked himself neither did I.

I just won a draft game with 86 life and had to deck my opponent to win. I had a Maned Serval that, with two Keensight Mentors, became a mighty 21/24 with lifelink (Splendor Mare cycling token). The opponent had 3-4 of the red creature that lets you cast a card in your yard with cycling and so s/he had an endless stream of blockers for my three man team (they killed everything else with go for bloods, ram throughs and such). Long live the Yotian Soldiers of the world.
