Dope. I had just taken my boy to the cabin for 5 days. Wish he listened a little better so he could be around more people and other dogs. He tries to just block me out when he gets excited and you can't just have a mixed pit running up on random people and their dogs. Even if he is a family friendly dog. Thankfully, most people in the area seem to like dogs.

Sounds lovely even if he gets a bit too excited around other people and dogs! Hope you have a great time there

Those are projected for the end of the year. Sweden already hit 5% and I believe US is floating around 4.8%. I haven't checked to see what Sweden is forecasting for the remainder of the year but I'm guessing it's gonna look worse than 7%. For reference, 2008 US economy shrank by 6.2%. 5% in 4-5 month time frame is big.

If you read the OP then you would know that it is the expected shrinkage for all of 2020 for Sweden. Actually, 4.5%. The user who made the bulletpoint post counted that upwards to 5%.

Way to ignore the rest of his post though. That 5% is less than many other countries. Sweden is a trade heavy nation and since everyone elses economies pretty much stopped in their tracks it affected us too, hence the 5% drop.

Any country that relies on tourism is gonna be feeling that for a long time.

Countries that are handling it poorly are likely gonna locked away from travelling overseas period until long after the vaccine is widespread.

All countries with ties to the global markets have suffered negative growth and increased unemployment but how large varies of course. You dont have to be a tourism country to suffer heavily (see some of my previous posts).

Zero changes being implemented is outright a lie though. High schools and universities havent had physical classes since early March. You cannot be more than 50 people even if it is in an arena built for 65000. Cinemas and similar closed in March. Restaurants and bars cannot allow guests to stand in line or similar - the guests must be seated ASAP once they enter the building and all orders are made at the table. Stores got plexiglass screens in front of the register areas. Stuff like that. A fullblown lockdown wouldnt have been possible even if our politicians wanted it since such procedures are illegal according to the Constitution (a lockdown goes under the illegal practice of mass house arrest of the citizenry). Only criminals and illegals can be detained in such a way. The Government actually asked Riksdagen for temporary emergency powers so they could close certain establishments but Riksdagen only approved a watered down version of the bill which allowed closing high schools and unis. The law expired in June. The politicians who now critizise the covid strategy, despite supporting it from March to June, did not approve of the emergency powers back in March.

Quite few have died in our hospitals. A majority of the dead lived in nursing homes and our elderly care is a mess even since responsibility for it was transfered to each of the 290 municipalities a few decades ago. Elderly care is now far removed from the healthcare system which is run by the Regions. 40 municipalities got 70% of the dead so the remaining 250 got 30%. Which goes to show that the differences in dead are huge between different places in Sweden. The municipalities which make up Greater Stockholm have 20% of our population but 40% of the dead.

They compared Sweden and one other Scandinavian/Nordic country even. For some reason they chose one of the least financially hit nations in the West instead of our neighbour Norway where unemployment almost has quadrupled and the Government says that the economic damage is so severe it might have created a new permanent underclass.

Quota Refugees are indiviually vetted, mainly women and children, and flown to a designated country.

Very sadly, yes. Nursing homes have become too removed from regular healthcare and is more about storage for elderly than actual nursing. Low salary has led to many homes having more temps than real employees which in turn leads to poor knowledge levels amongst the staff.

The analyses done so far indicate that Swedens deathrate would be about the same even if we had implemented a stricter lockdown since the situation in our nursing homes would be the same.

I wish I had saved my post from when another user posted a similar topic and just contrasted our economy with Denmark which is labeled one of the least hit countries economically from the pandemic. Im not gonna write it all again but Norways unemployment has gone from 3.4% to 12.6% and Finlands economy is on the verge of collapse after closing down (they had to reopen or face financial ruin). I also linked to an article which showed that Swedish economic recovery is going faster than in our neighbours.

So talking about the economic side of our strategy is not as black and white as cherrypicked data wanna pretend.

Elderly care needs to be run on a Regional level at the very least, like all other healthcare. Because having it on a municipal level has not worked at all. That change in the 90s was when elderly care started getting bad.

Scandinavian culture is based on remnants from the old Aesir Faith and Christianity mixed with the old faith. Nature holds a very important part in Scandinavian culture.

The BeNeLux-countries are Continental Europe and got more in common with France and then Germany.

If that's the case, I wonder why they didn't just use her as the lead the movie. Seems like extra work to dub over someone singing. I guess it's name recognition. Because it's not like Rachel's acting was all that phenomenal in it (though I did enjoy her in the role).

While we are at it, I also felt Will Ferrel was miscast for this movie. I'm not sure who would be a better fit, but he just felt awkward and out of place the whole time.

Yeah I wonder the same thing. It would have more sense from a story point of view as well to have at least a Nordic actress.

I agree Will could have been replaced with someone else too.

I see no issue with making everyone in a country have a common tongue, but it has to include a written component. I'll even give you a simple and reasonable reason: Street signs. Yes, most of Europe uses shapes and pictograms, but in the US (and at least China) we have message boards over highways, usually they're for simple shit like "Don't drink and drive" and "buckle up". But they're also used for things like important traffic alerts, or severe weather warning. Having those in multiple languages slows down information transfer, and in some cases that can be very bad.

This is a part which faces the least opposition from the Greens since Swedish is the official language of Sweden and you cannot integrate properly without speaking Swedish. And you wont understand written signs.

I agree with Foppe and Robann about decent hardworking immigrants getting booted out too easily because of silly reasons. Immigrants should have a probation period of many years regarding crime. Commit one and youre out.

Labour migration has benefitted Sweden but we allowed in too many asylum seekers between 2006-2015.

They needed someone to do Rachels singing and the songwriter/producer of Double Trouble, Husavik and Lion of Love is Swedish so he asked Molly to record DT and Husavik. The movie producers loved what they heard and hired her.

Sossarna won and had a harder immigration politic on every point except for one point, NyD wanted an ID card on every emigrant on an EU level or something like that. And nobody cared to point out what Sossarna did.

That is true. Sossarna have been really hard on immigration except 2007-2015 and that was because the left-wing of the party was more in control for once.
