The WHO declared Sweden to be one of 11 countries in Europe with out of control COVID-19 spread and healthcare on the brink of collapse.

Which is inaccurate. Especially the part about our hospitals. Number of Swedes in need of hospital care are the lowest since the pandemic truly took off and even Stockholm barely got any excess mortality now (Sthlm has 40-something percent of the dead despite just having approx 20% of the Swedish population). It is true that our number of infected are higher than our neighbours but that is not the same as being out of control. We test more than Norway and Finland also. Our hospitals, despite the strain, have always had ICU beds available. Our nursing homes have failed immensely though (hence the high number of dead).

This pissed of our Government and health agencies who wondered why the WHO was spreading lies. Now the WHO admits they were spreading false info.

The correction never gets the same exposure as the original articles though :/

This is the kind of article which enable certain world leaders to slander all news as fake. Because this is an extreme case of cherry picking data and outright leaving out data (like all the reports about fast Swedish economic recovery from the past couple weeks).

It is interesting that they say neighbours but just pick Denmark whose households, thanks to their governments economic policies, are the least affected in the world economically because of the pandemic. Their PM has said they couldnt afford to stay closed however and has therefore opened up quite a bit. The article also admits Sweden got one more month of unemployment data than Denmark but then hurries on.

Unemployment has gone from 7.1% to 8.8% in Sweden this year.

In Norway it has gone from 3.4% to 12.6%.
If Sweden and Denmark are comparable then Sweden and Norway definitely are as well.

In Finland it has gone from 7% to 11%.

In Iceland, an island but also a Nordic nation, it has gone from 4% to 10%.

This article is in Swedish but it talks about several signs of economic recovery.

That is correct but the EU is more than the Nordic and Baltic regions though. Countries like Spain, Italy and Belgium plus the UK (who are leaving the EU but still) got it worse.

The fact still stands that the US now got more cases per capita than Sweden.

It doesnt go from 0 dying to 700 dying/Day in a single day. The incubation time is 5-14 days and most who die do so after a couple weeks of illness.

A common pattern with COVID-19 is that you get moderately ill, then start to feel better and suddenly youre crashing.
