Coke Zero~!

There's also stuff like Crystal Light. And for solid foods, for anything you cook yourself you can substitute a lot of the sugar for "baking splenda" (it's a grittier version of splenda that lets it bake properly or something).

Other than that.... ... it all comes down to milk. Milk is where about 90% of my daily sugars come from and I ain't giving up milk.

It is hit or miss and I know people who dislike it, but for me sparkling water works well. It is essentially carbonated water that is flavored but without sugar

definitely suggest sparkling water. either La Croix or Bubbly are good. they're 0 cal and also no artificial sweeteners. just as satisfying to chug down with a hot meal or to sip while relaxing, etc.

Tea, glorious tea, wonderful tea!!!

Also get non-pasturized OJ (or squeeze your own) and add alittle bit to your water (lemon juice as well if you want, which makes a pretty good lemonade since the OJ sweetens it.

Go with about 1/4th oj and 3/4 water and it tastes very refreshing/good without much sugar (and it's healthy sugar) at all.

You can buy the non-pasturized stuff at alot of places now, it used to be hard to find it anywhere but trader joes (a half galon at trader joes is $5 btw).

Now Fred Meyers has it, whole foods always did, H&L grocers etc, it's all over. It ranges in price from $5-10 for a half gallon.

If you mix 1/4 with water (not all the time, a few glasses a day), it'll last about 4-5 days (so about $1 a day if you use the trader joes stuff) which is about how long it lasts without being pasturized.

The stuff at Fred Meyers isn't as good (taste) because it's cold pressed instead of freshly squeezed but it lasts longer (So I buy 2 of them when I go). I have my second one in the fridge right now about half finished and I bought them last week.

I basically drink a cup of tea 2-3 times a day, then drink pure spring water regularly while on my computer or not paying attention (watching shows etc) and when I want something sweet, I drink a cup of OJ/Water.

I'm addicted to soda so I avoid it like the plague.

Honestly, the simple answer is just to stop, And over time you'll lose the craving for them.

Penn Gellet(not sure how to spell his name) of Penn and Teller did a kinda click baity video in titled "how I lost ___ pounds eating what I want" he explains how he talked to his doctor about it decided on eating whole potatoes with nothing added for two weeks. If he was hungry he would eat a roasted potato. Then after two weeks he added more vegetables, and now that he doesnt eat sweets or fatty foods for a period of time he just doesnt crave them since it is out of his eating "habit". Thus the title of the video, how he lost so much weight eating what he "wants"

Isn't eating that much starch actually bad for you? I mean, I love freaking potatoes, but I can't eat just potatoes. WTH? I actually limit how many I eat.

But no, just not drinking soda doesn't make you stop craving it, at least not for me, and just 1 little slip, one shirley temple while out at a restaraunt....and BAM it's got you. I don't drink any soda at all now, cause I fell off the soda wagon multiple times in the past. I'm diabetic so it's really bad for me, but even over pizza (which I freaking love) soda is massively addictive to me. I pretty much can't just drink 1 can and then be done.

Safeway used to have these (well probably still does, I just ignore them now) buy 2 get 3 deals that I couldn't resist. I'd be like, "oh, I'll just get soda incase someone comes over" or "Oh I'll just have a can every so often".

Yeah, no, that isn't what ever happened.

Kinda works for some soda, but because it's salty now too sweet. I do find that if I don't drink soda for awhile some of it (orange which is some of my favorite) is too salty.

Not true sadly for orange Fanta which is my favorite, rootbeer, or especially Mountain Dew Code Red. All of which are evil and I always want.

Man could you get addicted to something more expensive per pound? I get them sometimes but even at winco they are like $20 a pound (obvously for the peeled ones). It still comes out to about that much for the unpeeled ones though.

For my general snackies, I just do peanuts. Not quite as tasty mind you, but unsalted peanuts (already shelled) are about $1 a pound at Winco instead of $24 or whatever it is for the pistachios.

Only did it for two weeks, as a "palate cleanse" after that he was instructed to eat other whole veggies.

It makes sense, I mean we crave what we are accustomed to eating. If you have a salt heavy diet, most of your craving will be salty stuff. I used to drink the hell out of sweet tea. I cut back hardcore on sugar and no I cant even stand the taste of it and I much prefer Good water

I've never been able to stomach the sweet teas, it was always waaaay to sweet for me. In fact, I never could eat much candy either, just a bite or two and I would be sugared out (except peanut M&M's and spice drops for some reason).

I do put a bit of sugar in my tea mind you, but it's just a small amount, versus I think sweat tea is 75% sugar lol.

Could take it gradually.
Definitely ditch soda, but maybe switch to iced tea and fruit juices. Still have a lot of sugar, but it's better than soda. If you can, eventually transition more into sparkling water.
One thing I've been trying to do is "sandwich" my sugary drink consumption. If I want to have a glass of apple juice, I have to down a glass of water first, and then after the juice the next glass is also water.

Drinks seem to be by far the biggest culprit of added sugars, any time I compare the nutrition labels. Like, even candy bar servings seem to be way less than them. If you can ditch soda, drink only a little of other sugary drinks each day, and enjoy candy/desert in moderation, you'd probably be fine.

Peppermint tea with no sweetener. It's really good iced too.

Celestial Seasonings has a bunch of herbal teas that taste sweetish but have no sugar. Black Cherry Berry, Candy Cane Lane, Caramel Apple Dream, Cinnamon Express, Citrus Sunrise, Country Peach Passion, Gingerbread Spice, Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride, etc. Most of them can be made iced as well.

To make iced tea, brew the tea double-strength, then pour over ice.

Aldi has some really good sparkling water for much MUCH cheaper than La Croix. Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, and plain.

I use the plain sparkling water to make my own sodas, such as apple cider vinegar soda, or pomegranate soda. I usually use honey or agave syrup, but I guess you could use artificial sweetener.

I use a blend of sweeteners for my iced matcha au lait. When you mix them together, the aftertaste of each artificial sweetener cancels each other out. I add 1 packet each of aspartame, sucralose, stevia, and sugar (you can leave this out and add monk fruit), and two spoons of matcha into a large glass, add enough hot water to dissolve everything, then ice cubes to cool it down, and finally fill the glass the rest of the way with milk.

I agree. I've gone long periods of time without certain drinks or food. And the cravings don't go away. They just get stronger and stronger until I have to have it... I mean, it's most likely different for everybody, so it might work for him, but Idk... But I hear this all the time... Well, online...

I loved soda as a kid. I also had a ton of cavities. Easily over a dozen by the time I was like 14. Around that time, I decided to quit soda.
Mind you, I still drank and continue to drink sugar-loaded iced teas and fruit juices. And I've always had a big sweet tooth. Eat chocolate pretty much every day in some form, ice cream most days, etc...
Also have pretty terrible dental habits. Brush once a day only, never floss, never use mouth wash...

And yet...since I stopped drinking soda, I've never had a new cavity. Never. It's almost surreal.... It was an instant change from the moment I quit, and has stayed that way. Merely ditching soda had such an immediate and seismic change on my dental health.

TL;DR: Yeah, soda is fucking nasty

It's easy to say just use willpower, and if I had kids for instance, there isn't much I wouldn't be able to do with just willpower, but you have to balance out what you enjoy in life, with what is healthy and good, along with your desire to actually keep living.

I should not ever eat pizza again, or just maybe a slice a month. I would live longer.

I'm not going to do that.

I would rather live 1 less year, but enjoy pizza till I die (in moderation).

Soda though is very bad, and so drinking that, even though it's super addictive, would cause severe problems in a short period of time.

IF I had kids, or if I meet someone with kids in the future, I would/will stop eating pizza all together and focus on being as healthy as possible.

It's just me though, so all I have to balance is my own enjoyment in life, with how healthy I am, and how long I will live because of that.

I have a DNR order so nope, I won't be a burden on society etc because of my choices. I don't get disability or social security even though I could easily qualify. I live my life how I want, and I can make choices like eating pizza.....without feeling bad about it.

I would be super happy if there was something in my life I loved more than pizza, but i'm old enough and in bad enough health not to adopt another pet, and I barely go out, so I'm not gonna find a woman to share the rest of my life with either.

So I might as well enjoy pizza:)

I started a no sugar diet 2 months ago and in the first 2 weeks i also had withdrawal symptoms.

As for OP, kill your sugar addiction by going on a no sugar diet for a few months, then add sugar in moderation (if you'll even want to at that point) while prioritizing, say you have to pick between soft drinks and chocolate, which would you give up on? keep doing this elimination until you have 5 things and limit yourself to those 5. or alternatively have anything you want with sugar as long as it only consists something like 15% of everything you eat.

The truth is your taste buds and desires change and adapt accordingly, i had to go on a no sugar diet to eliminate an illness so i had to start by having only herbs which taste bad for a week and a half, after that i could start having a specific smoothie (handful spinach, celery stick, half avocado, half cucumber, 2 apples) and you know what? after the yucky stuff i had to eat that smoothie felt equivalent to a milkshake lol
after 2 more weeks i could have soups and salads, 2 things i always hated and probably only ate like 3 times in my whole life until that point, again, after being limited to only veggie shakes, soups and salads were like the best thing in the world.

You need to experiment with different fruit+veggie juices and smoothies, find 4 you like and can replace all other drinks with, youtube Jason Vale for that, he has a lot of recipes. When you find ones you like just mass produce them, put 1 bottle in the fridge and freeze the others.
As for snacks, you have health bars, yugurt with sweet fruit, all kinds of sugarless cereals you can have with milks healthier than cows milk (almond is an easy one to make at home) and all kinds of recipes, see if something here tickles you fancy

Im not completely cutting out sugar, I dont mind having low sugar drinks, for example the monster peach tea is really good and only has 2 grams of sugar. Its mostly just cutting out excess sugar, like pop, candy, potarts etc. I dont mind if that peanut butter has 3 grams or if pasta will turn to sugar because carbs or if there's something like fruit with plenty of natural sugar
