Match 1: Kaine ~ Salvation sounds just like TBIYTC, except it isn't as good. I don't know why this is, or if it's just me, but Level 5 music in video games has a disproportionate chance of being great compared to all of the other numbers. I can see this being a possible VGMGG Jeopardy category Anyways, great discovery.

Match 2: Jena Anderson is another fun discovery, and one that I had on my supports consideration list. Hard rock with electric guitars is always a plus, and I love the chanting at around 55 seconds in. I just wish this was longer and did more with what it was going for because the basis of this is great. Giratina Battle is far from my favorite Gen 4 battle theme, but they are all great. As much as I didn't care for D/P/Pt, the music was a huge hit. Weird Pokmon battle music is a personal favorite style of music for me. Close match.

Match 1: Oh hi Frey's Philosophy. Dire nominated this for my first ranking topic, and I remember quite liking this one. Also, is Powerless the same artist as P? I remember hearing one of their works many years ago and absolutely loving it, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were the same. E-102 Gamma has some cool Gran Turismo jazz going on. Not a very close match though.

Match 2: Moonstruck Blossom is quickly cementing itself as my favorite modern Kirby song, loving the clean sound. Super tough match though, since I love the Japanese sound Ciel Nosurge (the song) has. This is the better of the two songs in this year that feature a countdown in the lyrics. Like damn, I want both of these to advance.

ToC: What better way to end that last match, with an even tougher one! (Even worse, since the winner of this faces against Exsphere next round! ) Absolute banger ToC match, this is how good all ToC matches should be. Face of Fact is super memorable anime opening song that I used to hate when it first started showing up in VGMCs but one day out of the blue I started loving it wtf. Zenith is one of my TOP 5 Yasui tracks. Grrr going Face of Fact but I don't feel comfortable about this at all.

I think in the past it's been the later of 10:00 PM or 24 hours after the topic is posted. (ie. the deadline is never earlier than 10 even if the topic goes up early)

Celeste - Confronting Myself

Tales of Zestiria - Flaming Bonds are Being Tested

Match 1: Confronting Myself is still easily the best song on the Celeste soundtrack, although I'm not super-duper crazy about it like I was last year. Thermal Base 1 is pretty good, would probably take it over the rest of the Celeste soundtrack. Pretty good match.

Match 2: Oh hi, yet another somber anime vocal song (I like that genre, not a complaint). Zadok is an absolute banger, one of the surprise great finds of this year's contest! I like both of these, but this isn't close.

ToC: Easy ToC match, FBaBT is great.

Touhou 8: Imperishable Night - Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
Terraria Calamity Mod - 1NF3S+@+!0N (Theme of Crabulon)

Match 1: The Ys violin in Heading Back to Town is a weird flex, but this ends up sounding great. DBS is good too, not the best Kanako Itou song by any means though.

Match 2: I love RftM, I have it as my Bracket B winner this will never happen. FFCC has a cool sound aesthetic, but maybe not something I'd listen to on its own instead of just neat background music. The vocals are actually a nice touch though.

ToC: I had Rivers in the Desert winning two matches in my faves bracket, but ehhh I'm feeling Crabby today.

Shin Megami Tensei IV - B2 Battle
Last Ninja 2 - Central Park
Beatmania IIDX 21 Spada - Dark Legacy

Match 1: The high pitched singing at the beginning of Endeavour kinda irks me, but then the song gets going and it's really good. Battle B2 is my #1 favorite MegaTen song not composed by Tsukasa Masuko. Super cool metallic sound (sorta like SSB64 lol). Good match.

Match 2: No, I'm not feeling this. There is no POWER my soul is dead, this doesn't really expand or deliver on whatever cheese it's going for, and just ends up sounding obnoxious. Last Ninja 2 - Central Park is neither the best Ninja VGM nor the best C64 VGM I've heard, it just sounds very standard/average/mediocre. Central Park has some cool sounds going on I guess, so I'll be voting for it, but it's no Monty on the Run. Not impressed by this match.

ToC: The thumbnail for Dark Legacy looks like a power metal album cover. It's rhythm game music, but it's fast and fun and energetic and exciting. Whereabouts of Light is sadanimepiano.mp3

Match 1: It always trips me up hearing Kanako Itou singing in a Gust song. Still, this song is pretty sick. CSoS is utterly forgettable (this might be lower than Dreamy Somnom actually).

Match 2: I like both of these, this match is oddly close. So apparently Aka is a VN eroge, this whole time I thought is was another Korean MMO for some reason. Neat discovery though, shame to be voting against it so early. la la la la la la la

Match 1: IDOLA is pretty cool I guess, even if it's not my thing. It's kinda like Blue Reflection music, but a little bit better. R:U-DBA- I almost initial-nominated this, but my nominations were kinda cramped, but I jumped on this immediately when I saw this nominated. Great song here, favorite from the Deemo soundtrack along with Saika.

Match 2: Man, this is some anime Kenny G shit right here, love me some cheesy, sappy smooth jazz. Key music is always great. Hinagiku is also weirdly actually very good, even though it's not the sort of thing I'd expect myself to like. Closer match than I was expecting.

ToC: Metal vs. steel both of these are very good and I feel bad that I have to vote against one of these. I'm with deo, this steelchambers2 is a solid 9.9/10.

Pokmon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX - Sky Tower
Opoona - Partizans
Rivals of Aether - Luna Ascension EX

Match 1: Ughhh hardest (the best) R1 match here. Overall I will say I like this version of Sky Tower more than the original. The horns sound less powerful in the remaster, but everything else sounds a lot more clean. Sky Tower in any case is honestly great and this should've retired years ago. I actually don't like Faint Dream as much compared to the other PC-98 Touhou final boss themes, but PC-98 Touhou final boss themes is my favorite kind of music so this is still like an 8.5/10. All-inning on the loser of this for the wildcard. I have a deep suspicion the winner of this is going to get anti-voted next round though. Don't take that last comment too much to heart, I'm just being a bitter bellsprout.

Match 2: SimCity music is great, I should've nominated something from this game or SC3KU. Apparently I gave this a 6/10 in RtVGM, might be bumping that up a little bit, this is pretty enjoyable with lots of cool instruments. I kinda just skimmed over a lot of stuff when filling out my faves bracket figuring I'd do full listens when the contest came around, so I glossed over Partizans without giving it a fair shot and picked the other song (whoops), but this is actually really good. I remember hearing this one before, can't remember if this was in VGMC or not. The Opoona soundtrack is something I should look into more deeply, since I also really liked that other song from this game I used in my last guessing game.

ToC: Luna Ascension isn't Fight or Flight or Full Steam VENGEANCE, but it's a solid 3rd best RoA track. Endless Nine I've always felt was one of the weaker big Umineko tracks, not that that matters much since the entire soundtrack is great. Good match.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country - Battle!!

Match 1: EXPAJA is pretty cool, but it sounds more like standard JRPG boss battle music more than Gust music. Miracle Matter is one of the better Kirby 64 tracks, but it's still no Zero-Two. These are both decent, nothing to write home about.

Match 2: Eulogia is a better Gust song than either of the actual Gust songs we have in today. Cloak of Darkness is a little bit better than most other music in this style, it has a few specific bits that I like.

ToC: At this point I think it's safe to say that Torna is my favorite xnobep song by a very large margin. I love jazz! Slag Dance is good too, another song that took years of VGMC to grow on me, but I like it.

i was listening to the maiden & spell ost in the car earlier. definitely some stuff in it that wasn't nominated that i'd like to see next time.

It has a great soundtrack, and everything about that game seems right up your alley

I was torn between nominating The Wyrm's Jewelbox and The Maiden Under Spell, but kaonashi beat me to it so I ended up supporting the former.
