I think it boils down to everyone is willing to make sacrifices in theory but then a lot of people think that's just for everyone else or them doing it just once won't hurt. So they have to be forced into doing it.

I joke about it with the missus that the Texas Roadhouse car park is just as full every day when I drive past after work as it is under normal circumstances. If anything they are probably making more money as they seem to be getting the same amount of traffic except will be running it with far less overhead I imagine. It's baffling how crazy busy that place continues to be since it is only there, nowhere else in the area is the same

Company I work for has basically furloughed 75% of the staff in the last 24 hours until June 1st. I'd imagine the majority of them won't be coming back either due to finding other jobs. We are definitely going to lose some good employees to this.

I think my job will be safe for a few weeks maybe due to the compliance stuff currently on my plate but we will see. 15 years of tenure might give me some protection too. We will see. If I am, this might be the kick in the ass to actually look elsewhere for a job.

Seems extremely unlikely given how it has gone back to losing ground again

Am I too much of a nerd even for this site? There isn't a single game in bracket that I haven't heard of, and I can at minimum at least tell you what genre the game is and what system(s) it debuted on.

I barely qualify as a gamer nowadays really. I used to be hardcore but now if I finish 3 games in a year, that's a good year. I never go on any boards outside B8 and haven't for well over 10 years.

I for sure have never heard of Ori. I have only heard of Baba is you through KCF mentioning it (some sort of puzzle game?).

Other games in the bracket so far I have never heard of (There's surely going to be more in the bottom of the bracket too)

Before I bought the missus a Switch (which I've played for about 2 hours total on Pokemon), the last Nintendo console I owned was the SNES.

I haven't played a Smash game. I haven't played a Zelda game. The last Mario game I played Super Mario World (unless you count Mario Kart). The last Metroid game I played was Super Metroid.

I have owned a few Nintendo handhelds through the years but they have basically been for Pokemon and Phoenix Wright games and a few RPGs.

Looking at how Zelda plays, that just isn't my type of game.

It looks like Italy might just about be on the opposite side of their peak curve in terms of cases now. Death numbers are probably a few days behind that I'd imagine.

The amount of herd immunity you need depends on the R0.

At the lower threshold of 1.4 stated for Coronavirus you want 29% herd immunity. For the upper stated threshold of 3.9 R0 you want 74%

Measles is what requires 95% herd immunity but that has a R0 of 18 which is why the antivax movement is incredibly dangerous

For comparison Flu relies on 33-44% herd immunity

I have a feeling that when it updates again, Lefty is going to be in the lead and probably with a decent cushion. I think he has a good 18 point or so cushion on me and I don't think I will have dropped off super tons.

The website is being glitchy.

It picked up Match 1-12. It didn't pick-up Match 13, 14, 15, 16 results (seems it got the predictions). It then picks up Match 17, 18, 19 and acts like that is a new contest before not picking up Match 20.

Just doubled checked. Stay at home order was declared on the 24th and went active 26th. Curfew went in place on the 19th. Businesses started getting shut down on the 17th depending on the business type.

We definitely had stuff implemented before even that though as I have had tickets to things rearranged/cancelled for the week before that due to Orlando mayor recommendations.

The last time I personally did anything except for go to work or exercise was March 13th due to the restrictions in place

There's been something in place here for quite some time now in the individual counties. I think the Governor did something statewide in the day or so but local counties have taken it upon themselves to do something before that

So I didn't really give much thought to my bracket and I lacked a Nintendo console since recently (when I got one for the missus but haven't played it), so I didn't even realize there was a recent Donkey Kong game nevermind that this was a debatable match. I think I just took DMC5 and didn't even really look who it was up against.

Is Donkey Kong favored here? Seems so from the Oracle predictions at a glance.

The drama around Amy was twofold

1. It was believed to be someones alt account rather than a legit unique user. I am unsure if this was even proven either way
2. It wasn't that Amy was making perfect picks. Amy was mimicking the picks of the people directly behind her in the standings with tiny modifications making it impossible for them to actually catch her. She wasn't making her own picks at that point, simply mirroring what others were doing to defend a lead. Every pick was damage limitation to the extreme rather than trying to predict the match.

Yeah that seems pretty ridiculous. We have a stay at home order but it isn't actually being enforced. It's in place until April 9th right now. I'll obey it until then or even until May (as I fully expect it to be extended) but if they threw out a June date then I'd be far less inclined to actually stick to it.
