The songs sound phoned in on the album. Fantastic live. It's the only album of theirs I don't listen to and/or love.

I'm convinced the producing/mixing/whatever is the problem with Lightning Bolt. Saw them in concert when that album was released and that was the only time I enjoyed those songs. They had so much energy to them. Went to listen to the album afterwards and nothing.

We have a split level. I think its around 2300 sq ft? Its technically 4 floors with my office/retro game room being the top floor...not including the attic. Got my Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, and OG Xbox hooked up to a 32 CRT up there. Havent been able to have a good drunken gaming session up there yet. Mainly do that in the living room on my PS4.

We just bought this house last July. I have a large room that I made my half office half retro game room. Only had camping chairs for the retro setup. PS4 and Switch are in the living room along with a comfy couch.

I'm just glad two of my dogs won't be fighting over who gets to sit in my lap. Now all 4 of them can just lay out on that beam bag with me.

Couple days ago a coworker of hers gave us a massive memory foam bean bag for free. I've always been wanting one for my game room. It is the extra large size that can fit 3-4 adults. Damn thing costs $450 normally. It's so comfy to game on. Better than the camping chair I was using.

The CompTia certs are babys first IT certs. None of them really hold weight anymore except Security + and thats only because government contracting jobs still often require it which in itself is an outdated requirement.

If you want to get into networking go straight for the Cisco certs. The networking field and advancing in it is very dependant on climbing the Cisco very ladder. More so than any other IT field. Having certain Cisco certs will guarantee you a particular salary range. If I remember correctly a CCIE cert will net you a $150k job.

cmiller4642 posted...
I wonder if it was drugs or just being an asshole?

Bill Murray is like the complete opposite of him so it's funny that Chevy's career went to shit and Bill's flourished
From everything I read about him, he's just a complete asshole.

There was a roast of Chevy Chase back in the day. It was just a bunch of comics completely shitting on him. Here's a video of Marc Maron's part and some back ground info on the roast.

"Chevy Chase recalls the precise moment he hit bottom. It happened in front of unflinching television cameras, as he sat alone on a dais with his eyes masked by tinted sunglasses. Offered a hundred grand by Comedy Central to do a televised Friars Club roast, Chase was introduced to his place in history. And it was brutal. Hed been roasted before, way back in 1990, and the place had been packed. Paul Newman, Robert De Niro, and Richard Pryor were there. The hall had been populated by a galaxy of well-wishers, movie stars, comedic geniuses, and beautiful girls all ready to lovingly trash the smart-ass behind Saturday Night Lives Weekend Update and classics like Caddyshack and Fletch. In the grand tradition of the Friars, it had been harsh but sweet, and Chase had left happy. So when he was offered the chance to do it again in 2002, he said sure. He donated the hundred grand to his wife Jaynis favorite charity and showed up in a fine mood. "What happened next was so awful that people who were there from audience members to Comedy Central staffers still have difficulty talking about it.

Chevy Chase walked on stage and realized that almost none of his friends had shown up. He was led to a red overstuffed chair, where he blinked into the television cameras first stunned, then angry, then devastated as various basic-cable personalities and B-list comics marched to the podium and trashed him. Total strangers telling him that his movies were crap, his talk show was a comedy abortion, he had never been funny. Total strangers giggling about his addiction to drugs. There was no warmth in their comments. No real affection. Because after years of silence from Chase and hundreds of thousands of words written about his behavior during the late 70s and early 80s a consensus had emerged about the man. Everyone agreed without even having to think about it: Chevy Chase was a bastard. "He sat there in front of the world as it sank in for the first time. This was how he was remembered. This was his legacy. And when it was all over, he stood up, took a few bilious and dreadfully unfunny shots at his tormentors, and finally stared dead into the camera and uttered two words: That hurt. He fled the theater and went directly to his hotel room.

"Paul Shaffer, the emcee of the roast, left the hall concerned and called Chase. Told him he was coming up to his room. Sat with Chase on the bed for hours, trying to figure out what had happened, why he was so loathed, what went so wrong. And then, finally, Shaffer told Chase what he needed to hear. Paul said, Chev, I could tell you were hurt. I could tell that. And I just want you to know that when you were on Saturday Night Live, you were generous to a fault. To everybody. Everybody loved you. "Shaffer left and Chase sat by himself in the dark. Crushed. The ugly truth is that a lot of people dont love Chevy Chase. They dont even like him. You hear it in their gently damning praise, off-the-record slams, pointed nonanswers, and firm no comments. This isnt really surprising, because apparently the man possesses a truly spectacular talent for pissing people off. And at the height of his success he wantonly torched bridges and offended friends, often without even knowing it. "

My office hours are really flexible so I can come and go as I please. I work from home 2-3 days and my office days I'm leaving for home by 2:30 anyway. It's both easier and harder to stay on track when at home. To be fair, I work in spurts. Normally I'll be hyper focused with work for 2 hours then take an hour break to do chores around the house. Some days I'll get all my work for the day done by 11am then just get drunk and game the rest of the day.

TopicIs a B.S. in Computer Science sufficient for a job?
BlazinBlue88
02/13/20 12:38:35 PM

As everyone else has said, a BS is the most you'll need. After that try to work on certificates or self learning projects. Someone who has spent their own precious time learning things like Docker, AWS, Python, etc really shows off their initiative which is something that most employers want to see more than anything. This is what I wish someone told me as I was getting my BS in CS. What you learn in college classes won't help you in the field nearly as much as getting your hands dirty with the stuff in your own time.

Experience for a job is hard to say. Most entry level jobs say 3-5 years but it's just to weed people out. Blast out your resume to any jobs that seem interesting to you. Also create an account with resume on job sites such as LinkedIn, Dice, and Indeed. Employers and recruiters scan these sites and will reach out to people. You want them coming to you.
