Though, looks like they are from Germany, so, probably not >_<

They're big on privacy over there so we'll probably never know anything about them. If they were Americans we'd see them all over Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Got to build that wall. Hell, they take peoples homes to build sports stadiums in this country. That should generate more outrage than this, IMO.

Not bad for 2 years of a low paying job. Better than most people.

Hey, that's a start! Don't understimate the compounding of your savings over time, as money you put in early career can grow substantially. If I average the amount of retirement savings for my wife and I combined it comes to around $34K per year, but we haven't put in nearly that much every year since we started saving. Employer match on the 401k helps a lot too, make sure you're getting the maximum match!

The tips go to the wait staff and stateroom attendants. They probably make something similar to tip wage in the US, which is pretty low pay so they rely on gratuities for much of their income.

In the old days, you put cash in several envelopes and at the end of the cruise handed them to each staff member in the dining room that worked for you on the cruise. And left an envelope in your stateroom for the attendants. These people probably got the shaft more often than not, so cruise lines have made it easy for guests by adding it automatically to the bill.

We typically eat breakfast and dinner in the dining rooms, so for us $45 per day for everyone seems about right. If youre only eating dinner in the dining room, Id have the amount adjusted by the purser at the end of the cruise to reflect that. $30 per day for the stateroom would be more reasonable IMO. I sort of mentally split it three ways - breakfast wait staff, dinner wait staff, and stateroom attendants.

Jesus. I love comics I do, but to have all of the shows tie into individual movies, that then all need to be watched... I'm exhausted.

I might watch them individually, like Blade or some others but I'm done with the main movies.

I still haven't even seen Endgame yet.

Agreed, it's all too much. I wrote in another thread that I'll be happy when this superhero movie fad is over and everyone was pointing out how it isn't a fad... but it totally is. When you look at the number of superhero movies made in the '80s and '90s compared to these last few years. Hell they're even having to scrape the bottom of the barrel with characters like Aquaman who has always been a JOKE superhero. It's just ridiculous and I can't wait until it ends.

He wouldn't have a 401k, Pension, NOTHING!

He would have $42k/year until he dies. Most men will die by 86.

bodak_vess posted...
So that means if he goes BACK TO WORK, even part time, he's not retired from anything!

He can retire from competitive gaming, he can retire from the rat race; from here on out he only needs to do what he thinks is worthwhile, not what puts food on the table.

He would have nowhere close to 42k a year. Start buy subtracting taxes from that. He'll probably clear around 1.7M

If he lives till 86 as you are saying he would have closer to 25k a year to live off of the rest of his life!

I made that when I was 18 years old working full time and going to school.

My point is, that he is going to have to work, that's the reality of it. He earned himself a great starting position in his young life.

While I agree he'll clear around 1.7M, if he's smart with investing and can make a 5% return each year that's $85K per year if he doesn't touch the principal. That's before taxes, of course, but it isn't unreasonable to live on. But it assumes he's smart with investing and can get a 5% return every year, even when the economy is weak. So in theory he could retire, but he'd have to invest wisely and control spending i.e. not live like a rock star.

Seems like a massively overpriced exercise bike. Last time I checked the cost was around $2500.

Plus you have to pay about $500/year subscription if you want to use the interactive instruction classes. I'm interested in one too but I just can't get past the expense. Not to mention they used to charge $1200 for the bike, so it really feels like you're getting ripped off.

It was interesting psychology that we teased out, Peloton CEO John Foley recalled in an interview last year with Yahoo Finance. In the very, very early days, we charged $1,200 for the Peloton bike for the first couple of months. And what turned out happening is we heard from customers that the bike must be poorly built if youre charging $1,200 for it. We charged $2,000 dollars for it, and sales increased, because people said, Oh, it must be a quality bike.

Retire at age 16 with only 3M? That would be crazy imo, everyone that voted yes are probably still too young to understand that. He has to use his money wisely to start his own business or further a career in whatever field he chooses. He earned it though, now he has a great shot at doing something he truly loves for the rest of his life.

3 million is 42k every year until he's 86, that's more than a lot of people earn in a lifetime, particularly dorito-dusted basement-dwellers.

You're forgetting that Uncle Sam will take nearly half of it off the top, so it's probably closer to 25K every year. I'm guessing he'll clear around 1.75M after taxes. I doubt he'll be able to retire unless he makes some really good investments.

What kind of moronic system taxes winnings?

Tournament was in New York... winnings are taxed as income in the US. Gambling, sweepstakes... any winnings are considered income. Whoever cuts the check to the winners will most likely withhold the taxes automatically.

This is why I intend on having my company pay for it.

We had a corporate relo nine years ago. It was amazing, the movers packed up our whole house and unpacked it at our new house. We hardly had to do anything. Cost the company about $25k! Talk about stress free though.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I bought sealed carbon monoxide detectors for our bedrooms that supposedly will last 10 years and signal end of life. I'm skeptical that they'll actually last 10 years, but we'll see.

It always amazes me how many people I'll be on calls with for work who have beeping detectors. Or YouTubers with beeping going on in their videos. Had dinner at a buddies house once and all his were beeping. I have no idea how people can tolerate it, much less sleep.
