Im guessing you mean the 6 inch rolls. I see like one set that was 6-inches. The rest looked like regular dinner rolls, which are pretty small...

I dont know what you mean about not being able to cut the footlong in half. If you cut it in half, its like 2 sandwiches... Maybe Im missing something here...

I dont get veggies on sandwiches, so I really wouldnt save much there... Haha.

I dont know about the taste, but even if it cost extra, I dont think its much. The taste thing is subjective, though...

The bread doesnt always reheat well. It does sometimes, though. But thats if I need to reheat it. I also never put it in the fridge, though, either. I will say that one you heat it up, you have to eat it then. If you wait too long, it will brick up. And you cant reheat a second time. Either way, I think I like the herbs and cheese bread more than just plain, so...

I didnt see any footlong french rolls. But I only looked up French rolls, so that might be why...

Personally, I dont think Id enjoy splitting the meats up on my sandwich, anyway. I get double meat because I want more meat. Splitting it up to make less would make the sandwich worse, IMO... For me, of course...

When I worked at Subway, I use to make a Spicy Italian & meatball sub together. I also put sausage and pepperonis for the pizza on it. And while I normally had all the cheese, I would put even more extra on it. A few other things, as well, I think. I miss that sub...

if you do a search for francisco rolls and safeway you'll see the ones I usually buy. Those are about 10 inches not 12, but there are plenty that are 12 as well (and subway's are only actualy 11" anyway).

I used to get the meatball subs with 1 1/2 meat (it's $1.50 extra), when I didn't have them deconstruct them. You can't really fit 16 meatball subs into a subway roll though, even 12 is REALLY hard and full lol.

8 of them is too much for a 10" franscico roll. 5 is just about perfect (you could do 6), to have a meatball in every part of the roll. If you make 3 sandwiches you have 2 with 5 meatballs and 1 with 6.

Toppings are not used for the meatball subs but for itallian subs etc. Also you can add your own pepporoni if you want as well from home. 1 bag of Margerette pepporoni, gives you enough for a ton of sandwiches (not just meatball sammiches, but extra on itallians etc).

As far as cutting a footlong in half, it is like 2 sandwiches, but half as long (6 inches instead of well...11 heh). If you get a footlong though, and double meat, you end up with enough meat for 2 footlongs, then you can add in extra stuff like mozz/pepporoni etc if you want as well. You get all the toppings you like for such sandwiches (bell peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes, etc). Those cost as much as the sandwich itself, not even touching on the meat.

So yeah, you could just eat the footlong cut in half with double meat, and not even worry about another roll, but if you like alot of toppings on your sammich, it's better to make 2 of them. You can suppliment it with extra meat from the store as well if that isn't enough for you (like the margerette pepporoni I mentioned. $3 for a bag that has enough for many many sandwiches.

https://shop.safeway.com/product-details.182030024.html pepporoni
https://shop.safeway.com/product-details.196010992.html rolls

As you can see the rolls are $3 for 6, but...that is without any just 4 U deals etc. The pepporoni is usually never more then $3 btw, it's just not showing any sale at all because thats from the online store (For delivery) and most of that has no deals (why I actually go in the store.

I've tried a few and nope, have not liked any frozen meatballs as much as subways, let alone Olive gardens (superior in every way to subway).

I meantioned before that you can get 12 meatballs from olive garden for $15, and you can pick them up to go. This is enoguh to make 2 nice sized meatball subs, and it's superior to subway in every way. I don't have a very close olive garden to me though anymore.

I only do fresh meatballs at home and that requires me to slow cook them in a pasta sauce at least 3 hours so they become tender and the sauce soaks into the meatballs. I generally do them while making a pasta sauce as well. Still WAY superior to Olive garden let alone subway (Which tastes like chef bo ar di meatballs) but it's alot of work and time, and honestly isn't any cheaper then the other options.

I would make them for guests, but it's not worth the effort for just me.

Frozen though is bad enough i'll just skip meatball subs all together. Even the packaged non-frozen ones ready made in the store is not worth it....way better to buy your own ground beef and sausage and make your meatballs yourself. It's cheaper, way tastier and fresher as well.

I guess it works better for meatball subs. I don't really get those anymore... And maybe it's just me, but I never really had a problem with fitting 16 meatballs on a sub. Haha.

Also, I know I can buy more pepperonis. I usually have a bunch at home that I snack on. But that's me just buying extra food at that point. Not really saving much. Especially since you would need a good amount of the small pepperonis to make up for the big one. Plus, that would mean not heating up the sub. And having to do it at home. Won't use the oven because that's takes to long if I wanted food now. Maybe the toaster oven, but Idk. But I usually get it for lunch and eat the rest when I get home. So, not heating it won't work.

Then there's the fact I would need more cheese. I normally get 4 of each sliced cheese. And then all the shredded slices. So, that would be a mess to split them up. Haha. And would cause me to buy a lot of extra cheese. And since my sub is so expensive, I only get it every so often. So, now I just have a bunch of extra cheese. And I have really been cooking lately, but I wouldn't want to waste it.

The bags of pepperoni always seem like a lot, but don't really have that much. I figured that out when I made my pizza mac and cheese... Also, I'd have to buy shredded cheese and herbs to give the bread extra taste...

For olive Garden, are you talking about just the meatballs. I don't really think I've had them there that I can remember... Though, I've never really had a problem with frozen meatballs. You just can keep thawing and freezing them...

Not sure if I'd like it better. But I'm also not buying meatballs there to make a sub. Haha. Seems like a lot of extra work. And waiting...

I've never made meatballs. Though, I've seen some recipes. 3 hours is way too long for me, though. I want a slow cooker, but I would plan the cooking around my day. Though, taste is subjective, so I'm not even sure I would like mine better. Haha. Some restaurants add things sometimes. To give it an extra taste.

Idk. I think I'd be fine with frozen or pre-made... Making mine own may be something to try. But not for regular cooking... for me, at least. Since I don't need everything to be super fresh and home made...

Slow cooker does work fine while your at work etc, I used to do that all the time, great way to make excellent meatballs and itallian sausage (along with your meat sauce.

You can use the frozen ones or pre-packaged ones, I'm just picky and it doesn't take much time to make your own, which taste alot better. Most people wouldn't care that much though.

Olive garden works for pasta as well etc, it's actually a great deal and better then the never ending pasta bowls deals etc, since 12 meatballs is pretty freaking hard to eat in 1 sitting lol, and you get alot of meat sauce to go along with it. You can just boil pasta at home, add meatballs and sauce and be done....and 12 of em is enough for 2-3 meals that way (versus the same price for never ending pasta bowl....and cheaper then if you get the never ending meatballs added on).

When I was younger I'd eat 6-10 bows during a never ending pasta deal (even though the second + bowls are really small). Now I have a hard time even eating a second bowl at all....so it makes more sense just to get the meatballs if I go there, even during a deal.

My meatballs still are better, but as mentioned, it's alot of work and time, and honestly 12 of em is over a pound (almost 2 pounds) of meat....which costs almost as much just for the meat from the store, especially when you add in the sauce etc). When you buy it, it comes in a big tin container, and has enough sauce to cover the meatballs with (probably a good quart of sauce) along with 12 meatballs. It's more then enough for 2-3 full pasta meals....after making the pasta at home.

So you end up paying $12 + say $2 for 2 packages of pasta (of various types, barrila....99cents each).

Gives you 4 meals of 1/2 pound of pasta and 3 meatballs + sauce....for only $12 (about $3 a meal).

And very yummy. My meatballs have a bit more spice/kick (I use itallian sausage as well in mine, along with spices), but they are tender (they slow cook them at Olive garden as well) and tasty just the same.

I'd probably just buy ones that seem to be made well. I could probably find some that would taste better. Or like cheese stuff ones of something. Haha. I don't mind making stuff. But homemade doesn't always taste better to me. I think it has to potential to. But it doesn't always taste automatically better to me. So, I would rather buy ones that I'm sure would taste good...

Maybe. But I don't usually use meatballs for my pasta. I usually do a white pasta. Meatballs can go with them, but I usually don't use those since I don't really meatballs with white pasta. Maybe a red one. But that's rare. At least, that's how I feel...

I was actually planning to get a slow cooker, but I don't have money for one. Apparently, my BF had like 3. When I mentioned I was planning to get one, he said he wished he would have known. He had like a bunch he had sold. He would've just given me one. Haha.
